RE: Pilot Seduction Freestyle - Conversion?
This is excellent, thank you so much. I'm fine with the IC but a little lost in electric and this will help me get acquainted. Looking forward to flying it, love these Japanes planes, am a big fan. I have a Naruke design from Hirobo that's next on the conversion table but thought I'd start with a favourite. Thank you again for this.

Pilot Seduction Freestyle - Conversion?
I have a Pilot Seduction Freestyle, all built and very light. http://www.okmodel.co.jp/catalog/airplane/Seduction-FS/index.html The plane was destined for a YS63 but one thing and another and possibly 10 years meant the project was never completed. So I would like to try an electric set-up, can anybody recommend one? I'd like to emulate the YS63 but nothing more, no point overpowering this plane to silly levels. I'm a little new to electrics so motor/esc/lipo recommendations and perhaps a little explanation? I just don't get some of the motor terminology (no pun intended). Span is 50". weight with YS would have been 2kg. Thanks in advance!

RE: 20C 2000mAh 3s1p 11.1V - Help Charging?
Yes, thats about what I was asking in the beginning, the pack was charged at 2.0 through a balancer and took 16+ hours and discharged in under a minute. I then removed the balancer and it was charged in 1 hour and a bit. The pack discharged in... just under a minute. So I borrowed another battery pack and that discharged in 8 minutes. I then recharged it through the same set-up without the balance and it took 1 hour and a bit and discharged again in 8 minutes. I'm guessing the batteries are duff. Next step is to use the balance. I have a feeling all will be well there again. Guess its process of elimination and process of buying-more-batteries. Hurray!

RE: 20C 2000mAh 3s1p 11.1V - Help Charging?
It was charged at 2.0 alright, double checked. It was also passed through a balancer, I'm wondering if that's the problem, charged again without the balance and the job was done in 1 hour and 11 minutes, though the battery checker showed 88%. I also use a power supply, a 200w device that is clearly up to the job according to the instructions. I'm wondering if the batteries are duff. I charged one of my shockie batteries on the same system and they were done on time and full charged. I'm going to charge the same set on another set-up and see what happens. The LiPo was charged in a very safe place, could have blown up and caught fire if it wanted to without harm to the surroundings. Thanks for the help.

20C 2000mAh 3s1p 11.1V - Help Charging?
I have just got into electric flight and with the aircraft I bought came two batteries: AirPower 20C Range 2000mAh 3s1p 11.1V I am not sure how to charge these, I have a dedicated LiPo charger and a balancer, the charger is set up manually and requires a variety of settings most of which I understand. Its the charge rate I want to get right, I set it at 2.0Ah and it took almost overnight to charge. I wouldn't mind a slightly faster turn-around, any ideas?

Futaba MZ14 Coversion to 2.4
I have an MZ14 and would like to convert to 2.4 as it seems the way to go. I have a few questions After spending so much money on this TX is there a 'factory' conversion that can be done to mount the 2.4 aerial in the correct place, rather than have this thing sticking out of the back of the module? I see there is another brand that does this with a short lead and a loss of 5 channels.... it just looks so UGLY with the Futaba after-market unit. Second question, once I make the conversion will the software now reflect the switch? I believe there are a few extra menus required to run 2.4. And the third question of my two, I presume the balance will go out on the neck strap attachment point. Are there any solutions to this? Thanks to anyone who can help Oh.... I also have a ZAP WCII, love it to death, can that be converted to 2.4?

RE: What is the real story from Portugal?
Ugh, its awful all this 'Europe' and us stuff. Like being oin the same continent somehow gives you a 'home advantage'? (Said some place else in RCU). I'm sure the comments from the actual competitors, although diplomatic will not go as far as to accuse each other of of being favoured. Europe is a vast and varied place, so would be nice to be treated as the different countries that it is. Some of which spawned other continents... The judges seem pretty hurt at the accusations and no doubt the Podium Flyers will also. Shame.

France will have an advantage in Portugal because of their "home field advantage" Portugal and France a 'home advantage'? Thats soooooo naive. :) But then again, its all on one continent, they don't speak English, and its foreign, point taken. :) CPLR then QQ.

Wow, joking or not you Americans certainly know how to put the needle in! Is this preparation incase an American does not win? Why not create your own version of flying/sport that nobody else follows then you can be World Champions every year! (Wait... hang on...) My country has little chance in this but at least I can claim we invented RC. Didn't we invent everything anyway? Or was that ruled the world. Once. :) I say good luck to all and lets hope the profile of RC and especially Pattern Flying is raised so all can enjoy it a little more.

Realflight G3.5 Issue
I had loads of issues with my RF 3.5, I bought the thing for the 'training mode' so I could try my hand at Helis. However... I'm mode 1 and despite all the documentation telling me this was not a problem, on the supplied controller you bet it is! The training mode only works in mode 2! So my sticks are crossed. And is it me or is the MP3 playback function gone? I've heard nothign back from support, indeed I've had 4 or 5 emails telling me the same (wrong) instruction! Very annoying. I'd like to know if this will be fixed so it can work as advertised.

RE: OXAI announced new Zeque
You Americans! Love it... invented industrialisation? Oh come on. That niave comment aside, ZN, PL, Lorenz etc. etc.. are all very popular designs in Europe. They are good enough quality to create a wonderful and competitive airframe, match enough for just about any flyer around. Paying $$$ of your airframe is a a choice you choose to make, like driving a Ferrari, a Lambo, a Zonda, a Masseratti, an Aston, Maclaren, a Rolls Royce, Bentley... err I'm struggling for a US player there. Anyway, you allocate the cash, you smile with pride as it respons to your err.. delicate touch. Good on anyone who keeps modelling alive by consuming.

14MZ Slooow Screen
For some reason my touch screen is all but useless. I got the TX not long ago and the screen was pretty slow in that you needed to apply too much pressure to get any activation. I didn't want to damage the screen so used the dial. Now I have seen another MZ and the screen is feather touch. What on earth is wrong? Its always been slow and it takes some time for the activation to occur. Bit of a bummer. Just wondered if it was a silly answer before I start bothering my Dealer. Yes, I have calibrated and yes I have updated, neither seems to have changed this problem. The pen is fine too and my fingers are of a normal size.

RE: Tucson aerobatic shootout
I have this on DVD and it really is great, you do feel somebody has taken the time to edit the thing properly and give some of that polished TV production value. The graphics are a tad dodgy but I would say that being an Art Director. The interviews and shots of the planes, the general storyline and the extra features are fantastic. The flying shots are very good indeed, it really is hard to follow a plane on camera and yet still get a feel for the space and scope and these guys seem to be getting there. Buy it, it is witout doubt the best produced so far.

RE: British Freestyle Champ's 2005- RCM&E
How about the NEC, isn't there some show put on there by Traplet? You are telling me an indoor 3d competition to music wouldn't get a few spectators? We could run just one class some set routines then the freestyle. I've seen/flown in a few events now and it needs a good sound system and a great MC to make the day a success. Oh and some good pilots.

RE: British Freestyle Champ's 2005- RCM&E
Why don't we take the competition indoors? I mean we have the eTOC now and it seems a pretty popular event. We could hijack a model event like Sandown or such like and get some PR. The field would be largely levelled, I mean apart from a 4d prop there are very little advantages in electric indoor 3d. Worth a go? We could have AA rules or a variation with some set schedules in the morning then flights to music the rest of the day. We could even start at 7am just like F3A :) . I've flown AA extensively both for testing and competition and having some concrete rules will allow solid practice before any event, which means a better show all round. Just a thought....

Anyway.. glad this has become slightly more light-hearted. The WCs will be amazing anyway, look on the bright side, the food and wine will be outstanding. and I have a sneaky suspicion a European might well win it too... I've been to the US a lot and it was great.. hey, I got to shoot a gun! You just don't get that kind of hospitality here in England. Or Scotland. Or Wales.. Ireland... (oh wait..) Any predictions? RE: Quique not going to France this year?
Oh come on! One guy expresses a view and suddenly we clutch out hearts and salute the US flag. Don't be so shallow as to attack the British or the French, believe me, Europe has its sterotypes for the US as well. Perhaps we should all remember its a hobby and we all enjoy it. It would be nice to think we can say what we want and hope it is taken in context and that we can all sit down and have a beer and talk shop. Quique is a great guy and I always follow his progress and love to watch him fly. It nice he should clarify the situation and I'm sure he has. Whoever mentioned Beckham playing for England... well... I'd say the answer was fairly obvious. So how about a big US-UK-FR hug?

RE: Hirobo Astral X 100
I'm guessing the Astral is a logical progression from the Stream 90 HiPerf, which I own and fly with a YS110. If the quality is anything like the Stream then seriously consider one, here is no comparison in quality, the Stream is a work of art. Glass underbelly, two piece cowl, wheel pants and tail, all carbon towed. The finish is first rate, both on these parts and the plane as a whole.
