RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
Spacoli, your 6 year old was 4 when this thread started :) :) so I take it they discontinued the Warhead...or did they [8|]
ORIGINAL: spacoli Wow, I was post number 19 on the first page of this thread over three years ago. Now here I'm posting on page 501, I wonder if there is any type of Guinness world record for the longest running thread. So how are the Warheads these days? Are they still made of glass or did they toughen them up? I loved the look of the Warhead, it looked so cool and tough, but that's all it had going for it was looks. There was just so much that went wrong with that first model, it was a shame. I have been running a Revo on and off the past couple years. I hope to run it more this year, my 6 yr old like to run his big brothers Revo. Later
Its either not beef up the bulkheads and have to tear that ungodly mess apart when you strip the pinion gears or its beef up the bulkheads, possibly shim them, and only have to replace a dogbone here and there
ORIGINAL: xCrucialx Alloy bulkheads are recommended? I've read conflicting thoughts on aluminum parts. Mainly that the aluminum parts won't break which will move the force to another part that's plastic that will break.
I know that those servos are relatively weak...I really don't think they're hitting 160 oz of torque. You should be well within limits.
ORIGINAL: cgad18 hey can anyone tell me if the spektrum dx2.0 servos will work on the savage ss? i read in the manual that i need a steering servo with at leas 160 oz in torque but i cant find the stats on the servos. Hold the controller in one hand and pull the throttle trigger to 1/3 throttle while you pull start it. You need to get more air in there to crank it. You'll need to get creative as to how to hold it down while you do this
ORIGINAL: mathew0214 Hello. I just recieved this truck for christmas. I have ran three tanks of fuel through it just as directed in the dvd. On the fourth tank it started briefly and died. Now this truck will not start every now and then it sounds like its going to and does nothing. I have went back to the original settings and still nothing. I am at my witts end and dont know what to do. I have tried using different fuel and checked and changed the glow plug. after hours of trying it started for about twenty seconds spit all kinds of fuel and oil then nothing. Where should I have the HS and LS needles. What should I do besides pour the rest of the fuel over this thing and throw a match?
spur gear and differentials are the weak points. Skip steel and go for titanium spurs, hardened differential cases, and shimmed differentials.

that was when it was pure stock and before I got the hang of hitting the brake or the gas mid-air to adjust the flight...otherwise, yeah, you'll smack the ground and break something. RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
hmm thats one of those problems that is hard to diagnose unless you're right there tinkering with it. It could be alot of things - it sounds like an air leak. Also, engines just go to pot after a while - maybe its time to replace the engine. Sorry I can't help more [:o]
ORIGINAL: mountain_of_cheese Hi everyone Need your guys' tuning expertise. I tried to run my X yesterday and I've been having the same problem with it for the last 3 attempts. I've had my X for about 1.5 years now and it used to run great, but after having to do some cleaning and repairs on various parts of the truck, the tune is off. I've returned everything to flush and started again there, but I did look down the carb to try and adjust the opening to about 1mm. The engine starts up pretty easily and appears to idle fine. I did have to adjust the throttle on the remote a little to open up the carb a little more to keep it running. When i hit the throttle, the truck takes off for about 20 feet , but then comes to a stop, but the engine hasn't died. Even if I hold the throttle down a little or a lot, the truck pauses for a while, seems to build up, lunges a few feet then stops again, builds up and lunges and so on, never being able to travel more than a few feet. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated as it's just driving me nuts. thanks
RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
no glue I've used works on the plastic that those tanks are made of - I tried epoxy, shoe goo, elmers lol, silicone, let me know what works :)
ORIGINAL: -SAVAGE-
ORIGINAL: doesgo The idea is to spread the load. Steel and plastic are rather rigid, but can bend a little. They'd help absorb and spread the load across a larger area. Dense rubber would act similarly, but not as much, concentrating the load. If you could fill the entire gap between the shock and tank with some strong foam or rubber, that'd probably be best, but it'd be tough to attach.
How bout some red neck hot melt glue? :)
This conversion also moves the tank forward, fixing the whole shock thing once and for all - [link=http://ashburg.com/?p=403]New Era Fuel Tank Conversion[/link]
ORIGINAL: doesgo Nice work! Your shock hit it. You probably landed hard on the back end which pushed the shock tower forward and pushed the shock into the tank. Been there, done that. :)
Orion 1600maH hump pack is nice
ORIGINAL: Rimshot1911 I was reading the manual of the savage and it has the outside temp. and what plug to use with the temp outside. I was right you use a colder plug when the temp goes up. Plus i know how to tune my engine and I put in the colder plug yesterday and it worked fine. Thanks for the consern but I was just seeing if yall knew if the temp diagram was right or not. Turns out HPI tends to know what they are talking about in some areas. But just for your own pleasure it was "flaming" out at the low-end when it would return to its idle. I would keep trying to richen and the lean out and neither way I went would help. So then I tried new plugs and it seems to be working fine. Now I just need to find a good hump pack and charger for the hump pack. What would ya'll recomend for a good battery?
