ORIGINAL: k_sonn I'm curious as to why you guys think the DS-215 is a ''step too far''? With the amount of thrust it puts out, wouldn't it be an alternative source of power for large airframes like the Tomahawk L-39, CARF/Skygate L-39 and the 1/5.5 and 1/4 scale F-16s? Kirk
I'm sure it will work and work very well too, the DS-215 is a true masterpiece and I was just staring at it for at least 5 minutes in awe... But I was just considering my experience that does not go beyond 6S1P 5000 mAh in a Habu 32 and was thinking of the 400 Amp OPTO regulator (the cables are thicker than those of my car!) and trying to imagine how big and heavy could the 14S 16000 mAh battery pack be..! And then again (personal opinion) a jet must have that burnt kero aroma around! In any case I love the big edfs I see in the meetings! Mauri

RE: P90-RXi
I think it mainly depends on the airframe you are going to use it in. The new P90-RXi looks like an evolution of the P80 as per size and weight. The new features are the BUS connection capability, internal temp sensor, fuel pump, valves and kerosin start so the connections are very simple, one lead and one fuel tube. The P100 is much smaller and lighter than the P90-RXi but has higher RPM, both have similar thrust. Mauri

The transmitter was little more than a dummy box but size, weight and sticks are final. The sticks feel very nice and can be fine tuned to personal preference. It felt nice in the hands but one needs to get used to the unusual aspect. The empty space under the transmitter will be used for the connection slots such as USB / MicroSD and so on I was told. RE: Share Your Thoughts....
Hi Falcon, I think you just chose the wrong retracts ER-40 vs ER-50. For such long heavy struts the ER-50 are the retracts you want. Watch this: [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHMcBVyc7l0]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHMcBVyc7l0[/link] The Electron Retracts are the finest electric retracts I've ever seen and touched and work great. The ER-50 units are the same size of the Behotec C50 series and are rated for the biggest jets on the market. The main struts you see on the video are from Behotec too and are really BIG and HEAVY and the ER-50 handle them effortless. Why don't you and Todd look for a deal and settle down this querelle giving your BEAUTIFUL T-38 the right retracts? Mauri

RE: Electric Retracts - Why don't we have them for Turbines?
The 3 main doors are moved by Lado E-Door actuators (30mm stroke). The outer doors of the mains are linked to the legs. The small nose door is moved by a servo. The retracts are Electron Retracts ER-50 units. The legs and wheels are by Behotec (very heavy and sturdy). Last weekend during final setup I cycled the gears 75 times on a 2S1P 2500 mah Lipo and I still don't need to charge! Mauri
ORIGINAL: Vincent ... I thought these units have a controller that will set the end points anywhere you want to stop it?? Vin...

ORIGINAL: smchale I only see a programming card for cycling, not setting end points.
The programming card in my opinion is no optional, it's a must with these units. You cannot program end points though (these should be automatic but not really as already mentioned!) The programmable features are: - reverse (normal position is not extended, reverse is extended) - door mode (stay open or open-close) - delay 1 (delay from 0 to 15 seconds before opening) - delay 2 (delay from 0 to 15 seconds before closing) No more need for sequencer! RE: Lado e-doors - dimensions ??
In my case I found out that the torque is actually a bit too strong and the actuator stalls only after deforming door and fuselage. And I'm talking about an Ultra Lightning front gear door, very sturdy! I feel that the actuator would stop moving correctly only if the door would close against a firm former, and this is not my case. So I built a small collar that I could adjust as end travel on the rod. See picture. Very easy. I also found out that the resistance to get the stall must be somewhat progressive, soft in other words, otherwise the actuator just blocks without moving anymore if I didn't remove the collar. So I just slid over the rod a small ring of tygon tube between collar and the case of actuator and now it works very well. Another issue I found is that the actuators 'cycle' once every time I switch the system on. I have not managed to avoid this so far, so for now I have my doors open and close every time I switch on. Not a problem in my case as the actuators move only doors that are free to open no matter if gear is in or out... just a bit annoying! On the mains I use the whole 30mm stroke so I didn't have the problem there. In any case these e-doors are a winner for me! Mauri

The alluminium rod of the actuator is internally threaded M3. I just screwed in a threaded rod extension and used a clip. See here [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz8sRI47GiM[/link]. Mauri

RE: Electric Retracts - Why don't we have them for Turbines?
Here you go! Battery is not included in the set, I use a 2S1P 5000 mah Lipo (I need weight, a 1500 mah is safe for many cycles). The retract ECU does not have a separate switch but switches off automatically when receiver signal is off, just like most turbine ECUs. The outputs for the brakes are actually three, just like the retracts. Three are the inputs too: retract signal, brakes and front steering. Then there is the output to the front steering servo. This is a clever trick as the servo is disabled directly by the ECU as soon as you hit the retracts. The round led push button is used for setting the ECU, very simple. The ECU cannot drive other devices such as gear doors but sequencing is easily achived by using servo slow function as the electric retracts and electric actuators (Lado e-doors in my case) only start moving when 100% channel travel has completed. I'm completely sold to this system, fantastic! Mauri
