RE: Too long WOT?
ORIGINAL: 8MILLSNIPER007 Alot of nitro powered boats that are watercooled are actually running too cold, look at the K&B outboards the hi performance models are air cooled and only have two or three cooling fins. The aluminum lower unit is a big heat sink. Alot of guys are going to air cooled buggy/ car engines in their boats for many reasons, some are pretty obvious but as long as you can get airflow to it they work well. Another benefit is the air right above the water surface is usally nice and cool. How does that Siro run in your boat?
It runs incredibly well, top speed of 51 miles with the right prop and exhaust system, which is alot more than the stock Dynamite 32 was able to reach[:)]

RE: Master K vs APC
In my Katana 70 profile 3-D plane the Master Schimitare S-2 14-6 provided way better pullout from hover than APC 14-6. Engine was a magnum .91 fs. The master was clearly the best choice in this particular application anyway

RE: Twin engines uneven compression Magnum
I think 18-6 is a bit too big for it, that`s really a .180 single prop. Try 16-8 it should rev about 9000 rpm or more, or you can use a 17-6 if you need bigger prop and less speed

RE: Twin engines uneven compression Magnum
Does your engine run fine? If so just let it be. My friends engine is just like yours, but it runs great nevertheless so he doesn`t worry about the difference in compression between the sylinders.

RE: Engine fuel question please!!!!!!!!!!
I`ll be fine, thrust me. A friend of mine has never ran his YS 63-S on anything other than 15/15 synth and it is a very capable and impressive engine still, blows everything in the same size away despite only 15% nitro Myself, I have ran my YS engines on anything from 0% (FAI) to 60%, but I have found that my standard 15% is fine for me. My 110 actually ran fine and flew great on 0% after alot of tweaking the needles and regulator, but I didn`t tach it that time so I can`t comment of how much power was lost, I regret that now

RE: YS 63FZ vs Saito 82 vs OS 70
I run only synthetic, we don`t have fuels containing castor around here anymore, but I suspect that old left over castor in the engine can cause troubble over time. After each flying session I just disconnect the fuel and pressure lines, put on the glowdriver and turn over the engine with my Dynatron until the engine is completely dead and dry, can be stored forever like that, the engine is still oily inside but all the methanol is gone. Everybody is so hung up in that YS needs so much nitro, in fact the instuctions of my 110 says from 15% and up, which to me is my standard fuel anmyway. Sure the YS produce more power on 20% or 30%, but so does Saito and all of my Sanye engines too, but that still doesn`t mean I have to use it . The YS WILL need some attention and service down the road at some point, but they are not that complex, I do my own service. Usually it is only needed to change diaphragm and plunger and that is easy enough to do. Here`s the manual for the YS 63, it clearly says 15% nitro < and castor or a blend of synt/castor can be used. I`m a bit sceptical to castor if the engine is going to be taken out of service for a long period of time though. http://www.yspower.co.jp/en/data/pdf/fz63.pdf

RE: YS 63FZ vs Saito 82 vs OS 70
ORIGINAL: Ernie Misner Does anyone run regular Omega type 15% in a YS 70? I'm hoping to do that since that's what all my other engines thrive on - and definitely won't need every last rpm out of that 70! Ernie
Yes, I`ve been doing that for years, 15% runs fine when you don`t absolutely need every last rpm, and it is still stronger than other engines of same size. I ran my 110 FZ on 60% last time I flew and boy did it gulp through the tank fast[X(] Was the difference in power worth it? I don`t think so but it was fun to try, definately brought out the beast but I`m back to my regular 15/18 fuel for sport flying

RE: HobbyKing - Good or Bad
I have over 150 orders from them, not one single problem so far. They are great, and they are the sole reason I can afford all the stuff I have in my rc-workshop. Edit: I see radios are much discussed in this thread. I converted my Hitec Optic6 35mhz to 2.4ghz with the cheap Assan module kit from HK and I have been flying everything with it for 3-4 years now. I also own a Futaba FASST 2.4 radio and it is no better in any way, only the recievers are 4x the cost of those for my Assan system. For my boats and cars I use the ultra cheap HK 2.4 2 channel radio and all I know is when my buddies run out of range on the water with their Spektrum radios I blow past them and continue to race my boat[:D] Never again will I spend high dollars for any sort of radio[8D]

RE: Prop suggestions
I own the exact same engine and when I switched from APC 14-6 to a 14-6 Master Schimitar S-2 my pullout from hover and vertical power was greatly improved. A 14-6 prop is about ideal, but you need the right one, try the Master airscrew scimitar s-2 14-6[;)] If your`re not happy then, then you need a lighter plane or a more powerfull engine

RE: RPM vs cylinder head temperature on O.S.46AX
I wouldn`t worry about the temperature at all, set the needles correct and forget about the temperature as it will be fine. On the other hand if 10800 rpm is all you get I might advice a bit smaller prop, your engine is working too hard. What prop are you using?

RE: Which engine vibrates more! Gas or Glow 4 Stroke??
My ASP 180 fs glow engine definately shakes my test rig more than my MVVS 160 gasser. The fourstroke only fires every other rotation, and when it fires it does so with more power than when a two stroke fires. In short these two engines are about exaxtly the same power (both turns MenzS 18-6 at 8000 rpm+) But the gasser takes twice the amount of firings to get it done, therefore more smooth

RE: 2 stroke fuel in a 4 stroke glow engine?
What counts is the amount of oil and nitro in the fuel, 15% or more oil and 5-20% nitro and you pretty much have a universal fuel for use in most anything. (extreme exeptions exist of course, a world champion buggy racer wouldn`t run a 5% nitro 15% oil fuel, it wouldn`t hurt the engine though, only less performance)

RE: Jett muffler Red vs black on ASP XLS 52
ORIGINAL: airraptor Did you widen the top a little also? . if you have a narrow range of adjustment like 4-6 clicks rich to lean then need a bigger carb.
No, I didn`t widen the exhaust port on the top, I will try that too. And I definetly need a bigger carb as I go lean/rich in just a few clicks. I will try to find a 60L carb from a destroyed OS hyper .50 heli engine. I use this carb on my OS 91 FX and it is great.
