Yeah, you're right front suspension is older than the L2. Sorry, didn't see you correction about the whole 12th scale thing.

It is an Associated RC10L2 not an RC12 you can tell by the amount of cell spaces cut out. A 12th scale would never fit 6 cells side by side especially on one side like that.

And the camera goes KABOOM! Nice video man, and great sound from the truck man. I hope to have a new Zenoah in mine in a month or so and can put up a good video of it at the track. Your truck looks like it has some serious torque ready to be unleashed at a bigger location.

RE: New to the 1/5 scale RC world
Good to hear from you again. Good luck on the new motor. I am currently looking for a new motor for my beast, but racing season down here is in full swing. Currently I am finding it hard to find time for the large scale stuff while trying to race 1/10th scale touring in two different classes, 1/8th scale buggy, 1/10 scale truck, and my SC10 in the SC classes. I cranked mine up for the first time in months at the offroad track during practice, and wow did I have a lot of questions to answer! As soon as I started it with the Jetpro pipe I had everyone at the track around my pit table wanting to know more about the large scale stuff. I think it rekindled the large scale spirit in me, so here I am again. My answer to most questions was to check out your thread here.

RE: TC5 tread!!!!!!!
As for brushless combos go, in my opinion, I prefer sensored for smoother starts. Nothing wrong with the Mamba system though, but if you ever plan on racing dump it and go for some competition level equipment. I run the Mamba system with a 6900Kv motor in my T4 for offroad fun, but in my TC5's I run the LRP SPX stock spec and Sphere Comp TC with 13.5 and 17.5 motors. With sensorless system you have a lag and inconsistant acceleration that will be noticed in the high competition world of touring cars. If you just run on a parking lot for fun though, then go for the Mamba system since it is cheaper, and you wont see the difference due to no competition around you. As for batteries you should be fine with what you have, but once you go Lipo, you will never go back!

RE: Mamba, LRP, Novak, or Traxxas Brushless????
The Sphere TC will be a great match for you then. It can handle down to 3 turn brushless, and still has good power profiles for stock racing. Now that the newer SPX stock spec is out, you can find people getting rid of the TC versions for cheap. The SPX stock spec can also do mod, but it would limit you on profiles for mod. In turn you get some really good revs on the straights with 13.5 and up. I recently switched from using the TC to the SPX stock spec, and about half way down the straight it feels like a shot of nitrous just kicked in and the motor revs to eternity.

RE: Mamba, LRP, Novak, or Traxxas Brushless????
I would say you would be. Consider the Tekins though too, since you are used to the Mambas having the computer interface. I don't know if the GTB's have that. Myself, I am a "blue is better" type of person, so I prefer the LRP ESC's, but really like the Novak motors.

RE: Mamba, LRP, Novak, or Traxxas Brushless????
Like I said if you are going to even consider racing, go sensored. They are much smoother than nonsensored designs. Adrenaline is close to Tampa, and they have a pretty good turn out for electric. I would recommend going with either an LRP TC or one of the new Tekins. This way you will have a good racing ESC and it will easily handle mod while just bashing. If you get into racing make sure to get a 17.5 motor to start with.

RE: Mamba, LRP, Novak, or Traxxas Brushless????
Any 3.5 will be just as fast if not faster than the Mamba systems. They just utilize different ways of telling you the power. Racing motors go by winding and the Mambas go by kv. Also you can adjust the timing on the race bred motors to make them wind out even higher. I have a Mamba 6900 and can definitely tell you that my 4.0 Trinity Duo motor packs more punch.

If you are going to race you will want a sensored set up. What class will you be running in if racing?

RE: ASSOCIATED TC5
Also since you will be running mod motors, and decide on LRP. You will probably want to go with the Sphere TC or wait for the new SXX. The SPX really doesn't offer much for mod, but gives the stock motors a lot more RPM, just be careful with gearing on anything over profile 6.

RE: ASSOCIATED TC5
If you are a rookie to racing you may want to start out in 17.5 novice class. This way you can learn more about how the car handles and what adjustments do what, before having to deal with the extra horsepower.

I finally got to put a few laps down with my Corally F1 GRP today during practice, and man was it fun to drive. It also drew a bunch of attention at the track. I really wish there was a bigger following of F1 cars to actually race with it in the area I live in.

RE: ASSOCIATED TC5
Are you going to be racing it? If so, what class, asphalt or carpet, and rubber or foam? I run 13.5 rubber on asphalt and I am running this set up: Novak 13.5 Futaba FASST 3PM radio with a, I think it is anyway, a 9550 steering servo. LRP SPX Stock spec ESC using power profile 8 with a with a 5.26 gear ratio on a small to medium track. Reedy 5000MAH 35C lipo Xeinon 28 premounted tires and SXT 2.0 traction compound. ITF upper and lower chassis. Blue springs with Losi 40 weight up front silver springs losi 40 weight rear, both f&r use #2 pistons No swaybars Slipper spool on front and fairly tight rear diff. 2 degree camber all around, 3 degree rear tow in 0 degree front, 4 degree cast in front. All the rest of the settings are the same as the factory R settings. I am happy with this set up, but I am still trying for a better one.

RE: 1/10 RC Formula 1 Cars...lets see'em
I just added a new car to my collection, which is my first F1 car. It is a Corally F1 GRP (the old one). Anyone have any info on these, such as set up tips or anything really? I can't seem to find much on them. It came with a 27t stock motor made by Corally, stock everything. I honestly don't think this thing has ever even been ran before. It also did not come with a center shock, but by reading the manual it was not supposed to come with one. What advantage would I get from upgrading to a center shock?

RE: Shenqi Hummer
I have the same truck. First thing I did was put a Futaba FASST receiver in it to use my 3PM FASST system with it. I then upgraded the engine with a 27cc head kit, Jet Pro pipe, Velocity stack, Unifilter airfilter with velocity stack, prefilters for the airfilter and pullstart, chrome engine kit, and a high RPM clutch spring all from DDM. I also replaced the crappy stock shocks with ones for the FG Marder sold from pro5thscale.com. I did have to put limiters in the front shocks to make the suspension geometry correct. See both my thread on this truck: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8343941/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm and Slawhammers very informational thread about the Fire Hammer (same vehicle): http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7706537/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm I also replaced the stock weak Jeep Wrangler body with a FG ford F150 body and replaced the roll cage with the FG one for the Marder. Most marder parts will fit.

RE: what rc has surpassed your expatations
I would have to say my Team Lousi 8ight RTR. Man this car is tough, handles great, and the stock engine is reliable and has plenty of power for what I do with it. I thought I was going to regret not spending the extra cash for the Associated RC8, but I don't. I use it to bash the living poop out of after a bad on road race day, occasionally take it to the track, and it always puts a smile on my face. Couldn't ask for more!
