RE: Returned newbe - SPEED ELECTRIC
Thanks for the response yellow-bird. I just purchase a modified Genesis with a 1250kv 5862 Leopard motor, 1700mah RC pack, octura 642 prop, Seaking 130amp Hv with 180 max burst - paid $375. I figured I would get my feet wet first before I jump all in. I checked out the videos on YouTube - man, what a boat. Of all the hulls I've looked at, the catamaran seems to be very stable in ruff waters. Also it seem that the 40 to 45 length seems to be the norm. Let me know your thoughts on this boat. Go to RCU and check out the recently sold column. BTW, are local? Regards, Steven

Returned newbe - SPEED ELECTRIC
Looking to get back into boats, electric. I have experience in running outriggers with a gentlemen by the name of Paul (at leg Lake in Whitter Narrows, Ca) . He was know to have some of the hottiest running boats, had a hugh machine shop in his garage but sadly moved up north (can't think of his last name). Anywho, like to get some recommendations for you fellows boaters out their on where to start. Stability is first hand, speed and ease maintainance. I have an open wallet (under a $1k). Seen a lot on hull design, looked at a lot of videos, check out a lot on China brand boats that comes RTR. The hull that I seem to favor is the catamaran, like the stability. What I don't like in certain boats in the bobbing up and down on high speed runs. The catamaran seens very smooth. What I definetly don't want is an out of the box RTR boat that does 30mph. Not afraid to spend money, as long as I get what I want. Like to have somewhere in the 50+ range and be able to upgrade if I desire more speed. Appreciate any and all help - thanks, Steven Criss RTR WOULD BE NICE BUT I WOULD DEFINETLY REPLACE THE INCLUDED 2.4GHZ RADIO WITH MY OWN FUTABA 2.4 RADIO.

FrequentFlyer Meeting
I meet with Don this afternoon (frequentrflyer). All I can say of his efforts and love for the preserving of the 70's thru 90's pattern planes is nothing short of estonishing. His work area is like a candy store - Saturn, Atlanta, Exception, Kaos, La-1, Citation, Aurora, Beetle, etc. Wing panels, fuse, canopies belly pans, pipe covers - DAMN, I can't remember them all - also, he has a great view of the ocean. For those of us who continue to fly the "barn burners" - lets supports Don in is efforts to perserve those that are, in my opinion, far superior of those so call "electrics" in today markets. I really don't give a hoot on electrics - if its not burning nitro, taching 15K static on ground, trike ot tale dragger retracts, tuned pipe and craking a sliglty pitched prop - IT AIN'T MOVING. Don, it was a pleasure - for all my trials and tribulation that I got thru from day to day, steping into your office just made me feel so good. - thanks, Steven Looking to get my Atlanta when ready - Steven

RE: MAGIC 60
The question becomes, due I want to take the time, spend the money and probably invent some swear words that have not come across this planet earth - answer, a big "NOPE". I've worked with these type of fuse in my younger years and even then, they were a pain in the butt. I guess I was just hoping the wind would blow right in my direction and snatch up one of these fine pattern beauties. MK kits are out there but far and few and when they do come across the table, you pay for it - and you should, its an "MK" kit. I'm looking foward to getting together with Don of "frequentFlyer" and taking my Arrow fuse for him to mold. I spoke with him about two weeks ago and had no ideal how he has preserve these great planes. I told him when he is ready to let me know and I'll bring the Arrow fuse to him - also, I'll need to bring plenty of money as he has informed me of whats in his inventory - @#$%, here I go again. RE: MAGIC 60
I think after reading the replys and especially after carefully looking at the photo on ebay, you can see this big depression at the forward left side of the fuse, I'm backing off this one. You will always have those that will swear by them and those that will find numerous faults and rightly so. Being a pattern flyer for the last 35+ years, there's nothing worst than a bad fiberglass fuse, to start with. Check out this picture

RE: MAGIC 60
If you look at the pictures in ebay, under "pattern" you'll see a picture of the contents, especially the "white" ABS. Is this what you were referring to as "crappy"? What was so crappy about it?

thanks for the reply, just one last question. In reviewing your list of pattern planes, I notice for the Atlanta, you only list the fuse chin cowl, wing pan, plans and cores - but no fuselage. Are planning on making one?

RE: motor upgrade on E-Revo (5608)
Appreciate your comments - thats exactly what I'm not going to do. I figured any mods with regards to more speed would put to much strain on the design Thanks again

motor upgrade on E-Revo (5608)
This may be a way out question but here goes. I just purchased an E-Revo (5608) and I added the 5000mah 40-90c 11.1V lipos - the truck is a beast. Lets say I wanted to have additiional power (faster), could I change out the motor to a larger Kv motor (same size), keep the same ESC120A that comes stock with the Truck? The reason why I'm asking this question is two-fold. First RPM's for these electrics are deterimend by Kv x Volts (2200 x 22.2 = 48840). This means this motor wil turn 49K - thats smokin. Secondly, if this is possible, would I be straining the basic design - meaning, now I would have to add alum upgrades, bigger spur gear, bigger pinion gear, etc. OR just leave it alone and be happy? These questions came from an auction on ebay where a guy is selling is Traxxas rusler VXL. He switch out motors and ESC, and replace the stock motor (3500Kv x 11.1V=34K, running 3S) with a HobbyKing S3650 (3300Kv x 14.8V=48.8K, running 4S) motor and a HobbyKing ESC80C. He didn't mention anything about changes spur gears or pinion gears BUT he did upgrade to alot of alum parts.

RE: Best buggy
Fellows, I appreciate all comments and opinions but I need to revised my question ever so slightly. The basic question still remains the same but the difference I should have mentioned is, "1/8th buggy RTR". I'm not so much as a basher but I'm for sure, built on speed - I fly pattern from the old days, Rossi, YS, ST, OPS - motors that tach 15K on the ground - I'm for sure a speed freak. I have been leaning towards the HPI Pulse in that it has the largest motor (4.6) that I have found for RTR offroad buggy. Again, any comments? - thanks, Steven

Best buggy
I know I'm opening a can of worns OR either "tired" worns but I would like to know of those experience buggy racers, which buggy(s) has been the most reliable in terms of power, little maintanence and quality in built. I've raced on-road cars in the past, MRX, Serpent, Integra, never in great detail but I've been involved. Now I want to do some off-road racing. Any and all comments will be greatly appreciated - thanks, Steven
