P 80 OVER RPM LIMIT SHUT DOWN
Hello, The turbine is a 2002 P-80 # 791 with 10 hours of running time, NEVER A PROBLEM....and yes I'm still using a version 2.00 ECU. Yesterday, I experienced in flight shut down due to an over RPM of 133,000 and a temp of 555. All limits are set correctly, and the engine is running fine now. Any ideas what caused that and is it OK to use ???? Thank you for any input...

Banana Hobyy F-35 C.G.
What is the correct C.G. for the Banana Hobby F-35 Lighthing II ???? According to the manual should be at 380- 385 mm ( 15 inc from the nose of the plane) The first flight did not indicate that the above C.G. is correct, infact it went from my hand 4 feet forward nose down into the ground. As far as my experience I,m building and flying since 1978 and also a turbine waiver holder # fw 7700. Thanks for your input.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Final question to falcon's turbine users, besides the routine beef-up improvements MUST I strip the wings , elevator and eilerons and fully sheet the entire flying surfaces??? Also do you guys recommend a removable/permanent wings set-up. The renovable wings seems to me pretty complicated and time consuming. Thanks

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
I'm ready to put a jj1400 on this airframe , let's dedicate some time on what is a MUST reinforcing/change of the structure of this plane to make it work with a turbine. All you guys that already went through the process to convert the falcon 120 for turbine use, please advise.

Do's and dont's for the super reaper
Hi everyone, Just purchased a Mickey Reeves Super Reaper and I'd like your opinions on the good things and bad things about this plane as far as the building is concerned. Like, do I really need the rudder? Or, retract? I'm planning to use a JJ 1400. Also on the wings, how can I tell the top from the bottom, or if there is any difference? And, I'd like some info on a low-budget smoke system that I'd like to use on this plane. Pictures of the building process are welcome, since Mickey does not provide any instructions. Thanks.

RE: How many RPMs on the ground for a West .50V1 with an 8X10?
Mike what you need is an APC 8x9 , on the ground you should get arround 20000 to 20500 rpm with a 10% cool power and 1/2 inc. off the engine manifold. I'm flying the magnum since 2000 so is a friend of mine and we did tried any conbination including the 8x10 prop wich did produce 18250 rpm and it was noticeably slower.

RE: 2 NEW SHRIKES
YEP, you can definitely install a 91. Just move the 2 fuselage sides and install a bigger firewall. Also make sure you install the battery all the way to the back , right before the elevator, and I do recommend one servo per aileron

RE: 2 NEW SHRIKES
I'm reading from the O.S. specifications: 19.0 oz (540 gr) I just love this engine , too bad OS stop production of it. As far as the gliding characteristic truly I don't see any difference. Yes it's almost 2 pounds heavier but it lands just like the others. They are so easy to fly. "Just to let you know I made a copy of the blue print today"........

RE: OS .25FX + MACS Tuned Pipe - Which prop?
APC 7x9 and you should get 18100RPM on the ground, with a 10% fuel I have the same set-up and I love it, just a little tricky to launch it since the static trust is very low, but ones in the air this baby is faaaaast. ( faster than the outlaw )

2 NEW SHRIKES
Hi all I thought to share with you my fairly 2 new shrikes : The black shrike uses an O.S. 61RE with a Mac-pipe, with 10% fuel it turns a 10x9 APC prop 16800RPM ( on the ground) and weight 4lb 10oz The white Shrike uses a towerhobbies 75 with stock pipe, with 10% fuel it turns a 10x10 APC at 14700 and it weight 5lb 8oz including a full 8oz smoke tank ( Yes it has a very simple but effective MAC's smoke system What I love about these planes is how smooth and super stable they fly, take-off is super easy ( just open your hand and it will fly level and straight-up with authority. Their speed is about 20/30 mph less than my Weston-Magnum or DDust but definatetly fester than my Outlaw

RE: Westom Magnum Combo?
Hi Nate , I definitely recommend the combo, as Bob said you'll get the whole set up and believe me you will not be disappointed I'm flying the old magnum since 2002, I got more then 100 flights and I can only say that this little rocket is worth every penny I'm getting on the ground 20300 RPM and a calculated speed of 169 mph. with an APC 8x9 and 10% Omega But wait till you do dive this puppy for a low pass and the engine unwinds another 2 or 3 thousand rpm .......... She is on rail, if speed is what you are looking for the name is MAGNUM-WESTON. Good luck to you Guido

Chris , an APC 8x9 with 10% synthetic slightly rich should give you 19,700 RPM on the ground and a calculated speed of 169mh, try it you will like it..

JetCat ECU vs. 2.0
Hello everybody, I am in the final stage of installing a brand new Jet Cat P80 to my HotSpot and I'm very concerned about the ECU vs. 2.0 that it came with. How seriously should I consider replacing it with a new vs. 4.9. ? Is it true that vs. 2.0 create radio interference?. Please advise and let me know of any problems that you have experienced with it. If I do need a new one , since it's a brand new ECU ( although it's two years old ) should JetCat provide me with an upgrade, or at least give me credit for the old one. Thanks

Whiplash VS. Magnum
Mine will turn an APC 8x9 to 20.150 just on a 10% fuel and compared to my DD with a DF KB-45 turning 21800 on APC 7.2x8.6, same fuel, the magnum is 10 to 20 miles faster.

HotSpot wings concern
Hi Guys, I'm building a Graupner HotSpot following manufacturer's instructions and I'm concerned about the length of the wing mounting tube (only 6.5 inches) coming out of the fuselage into the wing panel (which is styrofoam). Is this strong enough? Does anyone have any problems with it? Does anyone have any suggestions or modifications? Thanks. NGG3651@aol.com
