RE: Glider 2003 League Lazer Cut ARF
Hi, xactibu. I have just been given one of these as an unfinished kit and would like to know what you did with yours. The power system looks a bit wimpy to me and will replace it with a brushless system when I figure out what to get for it. Was thinking of getting a 400 size gearbox and motor to drive a 9 - 10 inch prop at about 7000 revs. Not enough room to fit an outrunner on direct drive without mods. What did you do with it and how well does it fly?

RE: Ziroli Mustang Wing Guns?
In a recent magazine (can't remember which one but may be RCM&E) they showed a machine gun that fired blanks and was designed for RC planes. Not sure what size but may have been .22 blanks. Perhaps someone else may remember the article and chip in here. However, they were not cheap to operate, a short burst cost about $7. Now that I think about it, maybe the blanks were special made for it.

Need to know what your setup is first. What battery do you use? It sounds like LVC is kicking in.

RE: Discouraged with electric
It's a steep learning curve getting into electrics and you will have your failures. The way I did it, after much research, was to get myself a .40 sized trainer and an AXI outrunner with 3 packs of 14 round cells. If you wanted to go that way any .40 sized trainer with an AXI 2826/10 on 14 cells will give you an airplane comparable to the glo equivolent. The best part is NO CLEAN UP will be required. However, to continue in electrics you will have to be prepared to put in a lot of research and it does take a lot more thought than glo power because of the versatility of electrics.

RE: AXI 2826-10 on 6s
As long as your total power input does not exceed the manufacturers recomendation (by too much) you should be ok. That means if you up the volts you may have to drop the amps to maintain the power at an acceptable level otherwise you will put too much heat into the motor.

RE: Brushless Motors
Cells refers to the number of cells either NiCd or NiMhi. So the voltage applied is No. of cells X 1.2. If they are going to specify LiPos it is usually in form of nPnS, ie:- 3S2P.

RE: HEELLLPPPPP MY 05 Cobalt stinks!!!!
It sounds like you are using too high a gearbox ratio. Pikeman said he was using 2.38:1 ratio and it sounds like you need to use the same ratio.

RE: Long-EZ by badsplice
Many years ago I designed and built a 40 size canard and did the same thing. Anyway, it was destroyed on the first day on about the 3rd attempt to fly. Some enquiries later pointed out my mistake. The C.G. needs to be in front of the leading egde as hattend says.

RE: HITEC FLASH 5X RADIO SYSTEM..
I had one of the Flash 5s and was very pleased with it. It was my first computer radio and had all I needed for a couple of years. The only reason I don't have it now is that I gave it to my son when I moved. I then got a JR 6 computer radio and wished I had the Flash 5 back. It's a good solid TX for a first up computer radio. I now have an Eclipse 7 but only because it was too difficult to get a Royal Evo 9 at the time.

RE: how do you drill your props
I use a metal taper reamer meant for opening up holes in panels. Ream the hole till it just fits the prop shaft. Stays nicely centered and gives you just the right size.

RE: Help with MP Jet Hook up
It really doesn't matter which wire goes where. Once they are hooked up if it runs backward you swap two of the wires over and it will be running in the right direction. No damages will occur from running it backward.

RE: Multi engine, brushless application
The problem with trying to run two brushless motors on one speed control is that the ESC senses the motor timing and that's how it runs operates. If it is using the feedback from one that might not suit the other one. Having said that I believe that there is one manufacturer and I don't know who it is, produces an ESC that will run two of their brand motors in tandem. Hope this helps.

Mufffler for CS .46
I have a brand new CS.46 but no muffler. The muffler from a Thunder Tiger .46 pro looks like it would fit. However, the muffler is a little bit wider at the inlet than the engine. What I would like to know is whether an OS #873 muffler would fit it. I would appreciate any help or suggestions you might have.

Retuning Receiver
I have a Futaba Hi-band receiver and wish to use it on channel 31, a Lo-band frequency. Can the receiver be retuned to the Lo-band or is ch 31 close enough to the Hi-band to just use as is? Also, if it can be retuned, can I do it or does it need to be sent away to a specialist?

RE: Eclipse 7: Upgrading software
Who can get an Evo 9? I got sick of waiting and bought an eclipse with the spectra module. Had to send it to be changed from modeII to mode I but at least I will be able to fly soon. It would be cool if it could be upgraded via my PC. Save having to send it to California for any upgrades so I could spend more time in the air.

What do you guys use for a fire safe to store your fuel in? I had a look for one online and they are way too expensive. At the moment I am looking around for an old steel locker to use but I'm flexible. Any ideas?

RE: Graupner Wankel
Not sure but I think it would be a 1st gen. To tell the truth I didn't know that there was a 1st and 2nd generation. Does it matter when it comes to buying parts such as seals and such?

Graupner Wankel
Does anyone know if parts are still available for this engine? I am thinking of buying an old one and I'm pretty sure it will need some parts. Seals, gaskets and such almost certainly, hopefully that will be all.

Flying Field
Hi all, I've just moved from Australia to Cumming near Atlanta, Georgia and I am looking for a field. Preferably somewhere that has flyers all week round and where you can take large aircraft. It would be real good if it were just down the road but it doesn't really matter. Any help will be appreciated and directions definately welcome. Thanks

RE: gas fuel with glo plug no ignition
I've been following this disscussion with interest. I have an OS .90 four stroke that I was planning to convert to ignition and gas but if it can be done with glo, all the better. However, I'm not sure about lubrication. One of the main reasons for going to gas is because of the gunk that methanol, or rather the castor oil, leaves on the aircraft. If gas is used and 20% methanol could two stroke oil be used at say 25:1 or would this damage the engine?

Weedeater Conversion
Thanks for the replies. I am looking to replace a glow sized .90 with this motor, do you think it will have enough power to do this? I usually fly electric power but for the bigger planes I would like to use petrol power. The reason I won't use glo fuel is that I hate the clean up after use.

Weedeater Conversion
I am looking to convert a Weedeater Featherlite 18 cc motor out of a garden blower. Does anyone know if there is a kit of parts available for this engine or will all the bits need to be made up as I go? Hmmmm, maybe a good excuse to buy a lathe.

Elevon Adjustment On XF631
Hi, Danny. I have a problem when setting up elevons. Trying to get different throws on elevators and ailerons what happens is that one servo gets elevator throws and the other servo gets aileron throws. The only way to get the two elevons the same is to set the elevator throw the same as the aileron throw. Is this how it is or am I doing something wrong?
