RE: what people do for living ?
Just saw this post. I had to respond, just because I'm pretty excited right now (I just go my first base assinement). I'm at The Citadel right now (second semester senior) working on a B.S. in Civil Engineering. I'll be heading out to Vance AFB in the middle of no where Oklahoma to start Pilot Training.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread
ehroof, I saw that it went from like 17t to 13t. My question is, should I keep my 2.8 in tires or go down to a smaller 2.2 in with the shorter gearing??? Thanks

So ehroof, you tried the lower gearing clutchbell, and it worked. Sound like good news or me.

that's what I wanted to know. I to am waiting to see what happens with the clutch bell. Right now I have the jato 2.8 inch rims so I'll definitely need some lower gearing. Thanks again dclintonh

Tronado Tire and Rim Combos
I thought I'd start a post of what tires and rims fit the tornado. I think it's been said that a 2.2 inch rim with a 12mm hex will fit. Unfortunately some guys have had some problems with rub and stuff like that. SO lets post some successful tire and rim combos. Personally I'm interested in some good street meat if anyone is out to please me [:D] I have Jato rims (2.8) with road runner medium compound tires. I haven't ran them yet, but going with this bigger option turns the buggy into a truggy and I might have some gearing issues.

RE: Lower Gearing for Tornado
Ohhhh I see, the clutch bell it self has two different ratios of gears. I thought that the tranny only had the two gears. I'm at school (in SC the cars in NM) right now so I don't have the benefit of being able to look to see how things work. I also don't have the benefit of being able to buy things and try them out, such as this clutchbell. Ehroof if you do try it let me know how it works. If not then I'll robubly just go with the single speed, but I got some time to make that decision...lol. Right now I'm just trying to get some parts and stuff for when I go back home. I ordered the tires and rims, pipe and header (they are both now polished aluminum), some a-arms (broke they day before I left) and a new body. Hopefully It will all go together nicely when I get home. We'll see.... Thanks for the comments ehroof

RE: Lower Gearing for Tornado
I take it you used the 15tooth bell housing to reduce the gearing and the xl tranny to make it a single speed car. First where did you get the bell housing (I'm looking for redcat 15 tooth bellhousings right now.) Secondly, does the single speed also reduce gearing? I'd like to keep the two speed tranny if the first gear is the same ratio as the one speed. I plan on adjusting the shift point so it never shifts into second when I have the bigger street tires on. Thanks Again, DJ

Lower Gearing for Tornado
I read on the compatability link that you can use 2.8" jato rims on a Tornado. I purchased the 2.8" rims and road warrior tires. I know it will be slower in the low end, I'm woundering if I have to lower the gearing or can I get away with using the bigger tires until I break something and decide to change the gears? Also if I were to lower the gears should I do this in the tranny or diffs? And what parts should I use? Thanks Guys

RE: does anybody have these
I bought my dad a pair for his f-150 (full size) and I have a pair for my ranger. I think they're funny. For full size aplications they actually mold them off of bulls. I don't know what they would have to mold those off of.....squirl????

RE: how do these compare to a redcat?
This forum is awesome, without out it I would never have gotten my car runnning. It's just hard to get direct answers from redcat. I wrote them about getting a green and purple car body (simple question) never got a reply. Ehroof I hope your right, like I said I like the product but hate the company. It seems like it's a sort of franchise himoto/redcat, and Darin just invested in the franchise, and either doesn't have the knowledge or resources to run the company properly. He'll make money now seeling the product for super cheap but if there is no consumer backing, he's screwed in the long run. Again my 2cents

RE: how do these compare to a redcat?
Here's my 2 cents I'm new to the rc world. I like my tornado, for the price it seems like a really good rc. THey have their problems (a-arms breaking and spur gears) which you can read about on the forum, but all in all it's a really good car. Here's my problem, DARIN I HOPE YOU READ THIS: There is absolutely no factory support for the product. This forum is what they consider factory support; which is just costumers figuring out how to fix the problems their cars have, and fix factory flaws. If you e-mail/call redcat which I've done many times you will NOT get ANY customer support. DARIN DOESN'T GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT ANY PROBLEMS YOU HAVE. Again I like the product but honestly, the company sucks, and I'll never buy anything from redcatracing.com again. ***Read the Spur gear post***

RE: Tornado BB
there's a ton of info in this post http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5271405/tm.htm I got my car started by this post, first nitro car ever owned. I found that mine started after about 15 pulls with just about factory settings. My dad on the other hand dicked with his and had to use this post to start his car. If you still can't get it started I'll be more then willing to take it off your hands [:D]

RE: 1/10 Buggy Compatible Parts
Hi Guys, I've been reading allot of the discussions on here trying to get educated. I'm woundering three things. First, there was some talk earlier about getting exhaust pipes and round headers that fit (from traxxas). Does anyone know what these are? Perferably part numbers. Also please feel free to list all headers and pipes that will fit just so I can browse and see whats out there. Secondly does anyon know where to get a body for these cars? I can't seen to find a green and purple body to save my life. Third has anyone tride upgrading from XP to BB? In particular I just want to upgrade the front suspension. Thank You
