RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
ORIGINAL: alanflys98 Is anyone having issues with the Aurora 9 locking out? I have been flying a DX7 for years without a glitch. The wife got me the Aurora for Christmas and New Years Eve, on its second flight about 8 minutes in, total failure and my beloved 100cc Carden 260 went down full throttle and after the trees finished with her the whole thing went into the Etowah River. [:o] After 3 trips into frigid N Ga. waters to recover the wreckage, the motor is headed to DA and the radio an servos are headed to Hitec. Any thoughts out there??
Hi, I use the AURORA with 7 and 9 channel receivers in planes, helicopters, quad fleyrs, ships and cars with combustion and electric engines since October 2009. I use it at well populated locations, at events with many other 2.4GHz users, in rooms with tons of cellular phones, bluetooth devices, computers all over the year with my smart phone in my pockets. It works without any problem and I never had a glitch. Regards from Germany. Uli

HITEC Telemetry Test Flight
Hi, first flight with HITEC telemetry. Works fine, safe data transmission from T-Rex 550 Heli to Aurora 9. RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
ORIGINAL: LQUAN Hi Mike, I have a suggestion for the next firmware upgrade for the A9. The throttle lock is a good idea. However, the software should not allow unlocking when the throttle stick is not at the lowest. Being a software guy, I know this is difficult because the engineer does not know when the throttle servo is reversed. Especially, Hitec allows servo reverse to be programmed through the programmer. How about a warning telling the idiot at the sticks to move it down before unlocking?[:D]
Hi, not every user uses the throttle stick to control the throttle. Helicopter pilots use mixes, throttle curves, switches to control the throttle. The throttle stick controls collectiv pitch. Many plane pilots use the throttle stick to control flaps, gear AND throttle, maybe mid position is idle pwr, lower position controls flaps and or gear, spoilers. Same is with car pilots. They use the throttle stick to control brakes and throttle. So your idea may fit for you, it is BS to me and many others. Check how throttle lock works. It freezes the throttle channel, not the throttle stick position. When throttle lock is selected every input to the throttle channel is interrupted. There is only one exception: throttel cut ist still activ, this is usefull for combustion engines. The present throttle lock option works fine with the wide range of possible applications. It is very intelligenty programed. There is no update necessary. Regards Uli

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
ORIGINAL: orcrest Nothing is WRONG. Thankyou for the lesson but  I am fairly sure I have a handle on the mechanics of changing modules and antennas. I just want Hitec to clarify if the 72MHz antenna is connected externally to the module by a wire or if it works through the internal connection. Very simple question, not too hard to understand I would have thought. A person on this forum has suggested that it is connected externally to the 72MHz module. I am SIMPLY asking if anyone from HITEC can confirm this, and if it is NOT connected externally, is the metal 72MHz antenna sold with the Spectra Pro or is it a separate purchase? Other than a brief oblique reference in the RCFlyer magazine review, nothing that I have seen so far alludes to which situation is true, not on any forum to which I am subscribed nor in any Hitec promotional material that I have seen. Maybe it's just so obvious that it should work through the internal connection like every other FM transmitter in existence that Hitec haven't felt the need to spell it out for us, it's obvious to me that that's probably how it will work. But equally there are some who think it might be wired externally. For me, I assume that it will work internally so I just want to know if the metal antenna comes with the Spectra Pro when you buy it or is it a separate purchase. That's it, plain & simple. I've repeated my question a number of different ways now so I hope the ESL among us have finally got the gist of my question.
Don't come down. Moduls will be connected inside via the antenna base as usual. http://www.flickr.com/photos/14005159@N00/4274337800/ Uli

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
ORIGINAL: orcrest Perhaps but I would have thought the conventional approach would have been simpler for the 72Mhz antenna. If you look at this photo here there does appear to be a serious amount of wiring going to the base of the antenna connection. A lot for what would only need to be a dummy connection for the base of the 2.4GHz & 72MHz antennas. <a href=''http://www.flickr.com/photos/garethky/4097446648/sizes/l/in/set-72157622786379680/''>http://www.flickr.com/photos/garethky/4097446648/sizes/l/in/set-72157622786379680/ Is there someone from Hitec who can confirm how the 72MHz antenna will be connected?
What's wrong? Remove the 2.4GHz Modul. Unscrew the 2.4GHz antenna adapter the same way as a regluar antenna. Put the 72MHz MHz Modul in and screw the antenna in. That's it! Uli

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
ORIGINAL: Pippin ...ops, I just stumbled into this thread. A friend asked my about what new system to buy. I was facing the same question recently and choose the SD-10G. Next on the list was the Futaba T10 and perhaps the new T8 (neat little thing, I already played with it). I thought about the A9 as well, a real bargin compared to the other brand but restricted to only 9ch, maybe one to little if you would like to fly a two-motored bomber. Actually, I am not interested in the telemetry and buddies around with such systems just played with it only a couple of days. More important for me was the latency of the system. Radios which use telemetry technically do not reach the same numbers as FHSS systems get. In both cases, marketing is everythink. The companies concentrating on latency highlight that feaure, the other companies rather avoid talking about latency and focus on there telemetry or other gimicks. The buyer might choose. It´s that I advised my buddy. It´s not a wedding vows.
Hi Pippin, there is no latency disadvantage due to telemetry. Present Systems with telemetry use a PPM to 2.4GHZ conversion. That makes them slow. So I could notice that a DX 7 is faster than a JR 9303 with PPM Spektrum Modul. But the AURORA ist fully digital. I could not notice any latency difference between a DX 7 and the Aurora. Uli

I placed an order for the Aurora at March (!) and it should have been available as from April. I didn't find an alternative to the Aurora and received it in November. Meanwhile I got a second one. Presently we are "testing" under harder conditions, in Germany is cold winter time. It's a fine transmitter.
