RE: AKM SU-27 Flanker-Does Look Good
ORIGINAL: ser00 Hi everybody, I have sat down and by superimposing a SU-27 over a SU-33, I have determine the exact dimensions for the canards for the SU-27. Applying these same "scale" canards to the SU-27 plans looked a little odd so I have adjusted (slightly enlarged) them to better match the scale of our SU-27. I have included a picture of the canards drawn on the plans and a additional drawing of the new part that needs to be made to mod the SU-27 to a SU-33. I wil make a prototype of the piece and post pictures of it here. The canard mod will be made of several pieces, with CF rods running in it if I feel the new part is too flimsy. The canard itself will be shaped with a flat bottom air foil to generate lift. As always, if anybody wants to chime in here to express the pros and cons of this mod or its approach, I would greatlyappreciate it. Happy flying and soft landings!
How about just about leaving them fixed! It wouldn't bother me a bit to have them nonfunctional. A update/add-on kit could be made as I haven't built mine yet.

RE: looking for someone who can print modelcad plans
From the Tower page at http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAWM1&P=0, you find this software was called "ModelCAD 3000" at one point. I found free downloads for 15 day trials. Also found this; http://www.download.com/ModelCAD/3000-2130_4-10201445.html?cdlPid=10201446 (Version 12). You might load one of these newer versions and convert your files to DXF, DWG, or IGS, should the package let you. Cheap price to outright buy in a retail box is at http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/vgf/vgf1019.htm. Maybe you could load your software on a PC at work, plot and then remove the software. Regards, Bart

Shrike 40 CG Location?
My Shrike 40 ARF manual gives a 5-7/8" CG measurement behind the leading edge measured at the fuselage. Is this the same as the KIT version? I'm using an OS 46 FX with an Ultrathrust muffler on mine and it looks like I'll need to add significant weight to the tail [:@] even with a 1500 mah battery pack pushed aft as far as it will go. I'm hoping the ARF manual number is bogus.

RE: OS 75 AX or OS 91 FX - Which is better as a pusher ?
Bigger engines require bigger propellers. Ground clearance is an issue at takeoff and landing. Also pusher prop sizes are limited. Regards, Bart

RE: Laser Design Services JetMach 100 for the RAM 750
No it's a 2 piece wing like the 60. Note that this is the high wing trainer, so the landing gear is on the fuselage 100% of the time... No stand to assemble needed. Two piece wing will work fine as I can use a wing bag just like the IMAC guys.

RE: Shrike 40 ARF
All the required holes are in the fuselage. I plan on using the Al tube. I just didn't want to glue the wings to the fuselage. I plan using bolts to hold the wings tight against the fuse, just like any IMAC type aircraft. Regards, Bart

Shrike 40 ARF
I'm assembling a Shrike 40 ARF. The arf has a aluminum wing tube and bolt locations. The instructions want me to remove the covering on the fuseage comon to the wing root. This is so the wings can be permanatly bonded. I'm thinking why bother??? Any one build one of these keeping the wings removable? If so how did things work out? Regards, Bart

RE: kit bashing the Facet into an Intruder/prowler
A Facet is a cool [8D] aircraft. I wish I had one to bash! I ordered a 2300HP from Kerry, but he couldn't seem to get it shipped my direction. I eventually got frustrated [:@] and cancelled my order. It's a real pitty that some of the cottage folks have nice kits but don't seem to care or last. I know they come with good intentions but that dosen't help the rest of us. I'd still like to have one someday however. Regards, Bart

RE: Need Hanger 9 Cap 232 Canopy
budgetdude might be correct on the size issue, I went back and looked at the wingspan and it's 80" not 73". I got the fuselage length of 74" mixed up with the wing span. (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HAN2900) Sorry for the bogus info. However, you could order the parts from Horizon and return them if they don't fit. Horizon is good about returns. Regards, Bart

RE: Good for BVM, Hit the deck!!!
According to BVM this plane was at Florida Jets. Pictures are taken by any one and every one. If there is any beef it would be with the owner of the photo. Was this picture lifted off the BVM web site? If not, BVM needs to worry about something more earth shattering. Saying that I don't agree with Skymasters using a picture of a BVM product. Hovever, I'm not aware that there is any law that requires that the pictures used on a box or in a manual have to be a picture of the manufacturers actual product. A F-86 is a F-86, just get permission of the PHOTO's owner.

RE: Good for BVM, Hit the deck!!!
Hey the Skymaster F-16 and the F-4 manuals could be a picture of a BVM product too. I've personally seen a BVM F-16 with a Thunderbirds scheme on it! Wait it could be a picture of an AVONDS F-16, or a AVIATION DESIGN F-16. What to do?
