RE: Top Flite Staggerwing
njmheli, I understand what you mean about the wing spare. Ill most likely end up doing that. As for the u/c I do have metal collars with the screw fitting that fits but the problem i have is getting the collar over the bend in the strut. The plastic plates i believe i do have I remember seeing one i just hope I have the other. The piano wire is what i need..I can make it myself but would need a good visual of how it is bent/formed. Thanks

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing
Hey everyone!!! Been building the staggerwing, I originally purchased this un-built ARF from a member on these forms. The guy started to build it like do the hinges and stuff like that. but on the top wing he glued the aluminum bar on the wrong side of the wing. So I need to be able to separate the top wing for storage. I installed the top wing to the fuse with out gluing the wings together and it seems like it holds very will with just the nylon bolts. What do you all think will I be safe? besides that..the kit was shorted some parts but lucky I had some extras laying around from other kits. But unfortunately there were a couple that were not included :( The nylon collars for the rear main struts on the landing gear to hold the gear door to it. Do anyone have any spares or an alternative for this? As well as that, the pre-bent wire/rod for the main gear door flaps is missing as well. Anyone have extras of those or an instruction or plans on how to bend them and what gauge rod I would need to make them if anyone don't have any. Let me know I'm currently at a stand still with this plane.

Nitroplanes Pitts M12 ARF
Hey everyone, I figure I would post this up since I have not seen any threads for this ARF/kit. http://www.nitroplanes.com/23a01-pitts-12-a132-kit.html UPS delivered mine yesterday and was pretty surprised with the quality. This ARF is just like HK's pitts but bigger and better. Shipping was only $25 and cost around the same if I went the HK way. On the box and site it states a "70 class nitro motor". I have a Zenoah G20 laying around that I'm going bolt on to this thing. I test fit it last night and its kinda tight but will fit with some minor trimming. On the other hand a DLE 20 will fit perfectly on this thing with plenty of room under the cowl. It has fiberglass re-enforced firewall as well as landing gear mount. Need to beef up the area around the firewall. I'll take some photos and and post them up and as well as start a build log for this.

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
I figured it would need a lot of right rudder. as for the tail gear I had this thing on there http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXES08&P=0 It was just too small and was not cutting it for the models size even with upgrading the wire strut. I upgraded to this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXYSH2&P=0 a bit bigger but fits in the well perfect and is a hell of a lot stronger and bigger wire strut too.

RE: Hughes P21-J MkIII Devastator
I have pretty much got this models control surfaces planed out. its not going to have flaps but instead the "flaps" on the top wings are going to be speed brakes that split/flare open. The ailerons will be located at the wing ends of the lower wing. The elevator will be located on the inner of the lower wing and will be in sync with the canards. I hope that makes sense...As for the vertical stabilizer i haven't decided to used functional rudders or have the speed brakes on the top wings used as rudders kinda like the B2 bomber has on its wing tips.

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
Tried to maiden the P51 2 weekends ago and had an issue with the retract tail wheel on take off. plane kept wanting to swing around. Is there any torque that would pull this plane to the left on take off? I have a GP Christen Eagle 2 .46 and that thing pulls hard to the lefty and needs lot of right rudder. But replacing the tail wheel retract with a robart air unit and having servo to activate tail wheel doors. ill take some pics once the install is finished.

RE: GP Christen Eagle .46
I know its a natural thing for this plane to pull to the left on take off cause of the short fuselage...what is everyones method for taking there eagle off on counter acting the pull to left factor? I have started depending on wind direction on the far side of the runway, and start gradually adding throttle and keeping the tail on the ground with a fare amount of right rudder. once the tail is off the ground ill punch the throttle and it will lift off....sometimes this always don't work and ill have to about take off and the tail spins around and end up nosing in the grass (no damage). any other take off methods for this plane??

RE: GP Christen Eagle .46
Thanks man. I'm using a 12X8 prop. With this plane being as small as it is a .46 should be plenty of power as well. I think the .55 is a little over kill on it but there is nothing wrong with that. this plane is fast. uses up a good bit of runway on take off due to size and weight, but other than that landings are simple and just a tad on the hot side but a very nice plane at that. The build is very fast easy/simple. are you doing 2 aileron servos or 4? I went with 4.

Flyer, Good pointers. I have been lurking on other peoples scratch builds and such. I am in no rush at all to complete this anytime soon. when ever I get free time at work I do more sketches and design changes. Looking at other plans is a plus. Getting ideas for my frame/structure design as well as landing gear and such. I do love top flites aircraft as well I have several. Thanks for the pointers
