RE: My Zenoah 26 wont start.
A engine needs only 3 things to start, compression, fuel and spark. So see which of those you don't have. Did the engine ingest dirt? If so you probably have no compression, hence it won't start, this is the most common reason for engines failing.

RE: Throttle Management On a Gas Engine?
Throttle management is for sissies. Engines are designed to run within a certain power curve, 2 stroke engines develop most of their power at higher rpm's, so keeping those rpm's up is ideal....heat...don't worry about it, these aren't nitro's...not sure why this dude above says 215 degrees...never concerned myself with heat and live in a desert, as long as your fuel is mixed right and your engine can breath and get airflow, don't worry about heat. Punch it and enjoy it, if it blows up build a bigger and badder engine!

I don't think any other 1/5 scale maker is gonna reach scale and amount of part availibility that the Baja series does, which is why I recommend sticking with them unless you like being ''different* or just have to have 4WD for whatever reason. RE: Integy closed clutch holder?
ORIGINAL: SAVAGEJIM
ORIGINAL: hndaman1 Nope not associated with Integy in any way, do not work for them. and yes I do think they are JUST AS GOOD AS THE the names you say about, I run alot of the alloy parts and yet to break any..[;)][;)]
Okay then, I will take your word on that Matt. But stop calling people haters and saying that they don't know what they are talking about. And when people give you indication that they do not want Integy, please stop shilling it. It is very clear you are rubbing people the wrong way. You are an adult, read the following responses to see that they are not too happy. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9852458/tm.htm And just because YOUR Integy stuff don't break does not erase the possibility that Integy stuff could break on someone else when it should not. Just because your Integy gear is perfect for you does not mean it is perfect for everyone else. And Matt, thank you for qualifying your claim as your own opinion by saying ''...I think...'' when you say they are just as good as other RC gear. For a long time, not just in this thread, but in the other Integy threads where you chimed in, you sounded like you were trying to assert that statement as fact rather than just your thoughts and opinion.
Lot's of people run Integy parts without issue. As far as "fanboys" go, well one place that makes parts, wait take that back they don't make anything they buy rebranded parts and claim they make them does in fact offer discounts for being a "fanboy" and spamming and recommending their name to everyone. They also don't warranty items as they claim they do. So buyer beware, but don't assume because 2000 people tell you a company is great that company actually is great. Use your own judgements on parts or those of members you can trust, not fanboys.
Not sure what to tell you about them, they have no physical address in Utah, it's just a PO Box. They may not even be located here who knows. I'd imagine its someone importing the item. If you cannot contact them I'd suggest contacting the Utah BBB and authorities because not supplying a product but accepting payment for it is illegal. Also there are mail order laws about shipping the product within a certain time period.

RE: DDM Billet Head Kit
ORIGINAL: irenaslavo I got DDM 29cc Billet Head Kit to rebuild my CY 29cc Head engine but I'm thinking to use it with Zenoah 26cc and my questions is: 1- should I replace crank came with kit or I can use Zenoah standard crank and replace piston and cylinder head only. I'm asking because replacing crank is not easy. 2- I can't find mark on the piston guide me to right direction of installing the piston. Is CY is different that Zenoah. 3- Can I use Zenoah stock carburetor with CY 29cc engine. Please I need help.
Yes use all the parts that came with the head kit on the engine you wish to make 29cc. You can use stock carb settings also and the stock carb should be fine with that kit. The 29cc's comes from the kits cylinder displacement taking the engine to 27ccs and then a stroked +2mm crank bringing you into the 29cc's. So yes you must use the included crankshaft.

RE: Proline shorty reed cylinder kit VS oneils bolt on reed kit
if i remembered right the taping the crankcase eliminated the need to window the piston on a cylinder reed kit, there are loads of older threads on them...cylinder reeds just usually aren't noted for producing alot of power, they supposedly clean up the bottom end alot though

RE: is it ok
ORIGINAL: lauderboy hi guys will it be ok to use a am system on my baja with a failsafe ? i hope it is
the issue with gasers is interference. Even the highest quality FM radios are prone to it when placed into a gaser. There are no FM radios on the market that will not glitch at some point on a gas rc cars/trucks, we're simply not able to get the reciever far enough away from the engine. Spread Spectrum is the way to go. I would not ever recommend running a AM radio on a gaser. Even with a failsafe you're asking for disaster to happen. Don't be offended by Lars' post he's pretty much correct, if you can afford the car the radio isn't anything. If you don't have a radio shop around loads of people removed the stock Baja gear and sell it cheap, it's at least FM and much less prone to interference.

RE: DIY cylinder race porting
ORIGINAL: ryan@ddm
ORIGINAL: badz a bad port job usually just doesn't add any performance.
That's an interesting theory. I propose you perform a "bad" port job by raising the roof of the transfers by, say, .040 and significantly changing their angle. Then retest the engine and see if it merely didn't "add any performance". As to case

RE: Team FastEddy Baja SPEED Challenge 70+
ORIGINAL: FastEddy There seems to be a healthy group of Baja owners out there that are battling it out to see who can go the fastest with an HPI Baja. We are going to add a little fuel to the fire by offering up a $500.00 cash prize to the first person that can brake 70mph. We will post the official rules here once they have been properly set. As we all know "proof of speed" is the difficult part. We have been talking to experts and will have an official proof of speed verification in place shortly that will be fair to all involved. We are having a "Fastest Baja on Earth" trophy made up as we speak. This trophy will be sent to the record holder. Each time the record is broken, the trophy will be passed on to the new record holder. At this time, We have Carlo with CC Racing engines that hold the unofficial record of 66mph and MiamizFinest (Luke Borge) who has broken 64mph and has a few tricks up his sleeve and believes he can break Carlos record real soon. I have heard that there are several more people that are working on their buggies to break the record as well. Hopefully this little "Cash Carrot" will add some incentive to get some more people involved. Being Crown the Fastest Baja in the world is a great thing and the best reward of all but a little cash to go along with it if you break 70 wont hurt. Have fun guys, and go FAST!
Does the Baja have to be piston engined? Or can I enter a turbine model?

RE: DIY cylinder race porting
ORIGINAL: savagecommander be careful how much you remove- an increase in case volume DECREASES velocity and hurts bottom end.
not true at all, i've only ever heard of porting too much causing issues in the nitro world not 2 stroke world, a bad port job usually just doesn't add any performance. People have been home porting for a long time, it's not a difficult thing to do

RE: esp 36mm raceported and regular 36mm raceported headkits
ORIGINAL: looker2756 If you put a ported head on an un-ported CY case, you will not be able to take full advantage of the porting. The port work continues down into the cases as well & yours will be missing that part. I definitely feel the ESP modified heads perform better. Reason being is the modification allows only 1 head gasket to be installed, ( Not stacked gaskets ). From what I have seen, this allows the port timing to stay correct, causing the engine to perform considerably better than one with stacked gaskets. In the 30.5 engines ESP does some great work that really pays off in performance & reliability.
the case isn't ported, they port the cylinder, the stacking of gaskets is done when people run a +2mm crank in a cylinder without the squish band cut for a +2mm crank splcrazy, not really sure exactly what if any advantage the +2mm crank actually has, I have a ported 26cc zenoah that runs right up along with 30.5cc race ported engines....so who knows exactly whats going on in these small engines, usually more stroke means more torque at a sacrifice of rpm

RE: i hope i didnt get ripped off
bogging in what way? alot of bogging can be caused by the pipe, is it running the tuned pipe or stock pipe? i always have run my lsn in until the idle comes up then back it out about a 1/16 or so it ends up around 1 1/4 out or slightly less....hsn turn in slight amounts 1/16 turn at a time until high speed rpm is stable and not breaking up or chugging along....bogs are usually lsn issue...mainly too right ...they are easy to tune they are just more needle sensative than a nitro...one 1/16 either way can make a world of difference...adjust in small amounts otherwise you'll go from boggy to boggy and skip right past the sweet spot...also be sure your air filter is clean and oiled up, a crummy air filter can make a good tune poor
