I got this plane in monday, and there is only a one sheet list of directions. There is nothing about the center of gravity or balance of this model. This is my second plane and would like some help on this COG business please. thanks baron

Finally got to fly again,
after 2 days and 4 inches of rain/thunder etc...the wind calmed down to nuthin and I walked acrrose to the empty lot and put the little Avion IO into the air!!! Yeaaahhh.....did a bunch of round n rounds and even some "sloppy" figure 8's LOL....what fun I'm having for an old man!!! I noticed the rudder wasn't responding very well, figured out that a little plastic guide for the rudder wire was not lined up, so did that and it helped a lot...flew it till the battery got low, so now recharging and hoping for no wind in the morning....having a ball with this little bugger!! don

RE: New to hobby
Zip, I'm a newbie too (but 70yr old), I did a lot of reading on these forums...and got the FMS Simulator to practice with...I got mine cheap on auction sale, the esky xmtrr that is, then downloaded FMS from the web...due to being pension I bought a "cheapy" plane, but I'm still having a blast with it....so just jump in and ask questions, and do the best you can, like I'm doin....have fun... baron

RE: Do I have a problem,
Guver thanks, I think I have to have two batts in the charger for it to work properly, I'll try that sunday with the new setup...I prob won't remove batts from xmtr, unless I can't plan on flying for several days,,,,the wind is the main thing around here... thanks don

RE: Do I have a problem,
Guver, thanks for this info...I've called radio shack and they agreed to swap all of it out for new stuff, this was only second time the batts had been recharged, in fact only second time plane had been flown....so I feel something wrong with batts or charger or both...bought them only 10 days ago, so will swap out for new ones tomorrow and see how it all goes, I've been chargin 4 at a time. Also the manual on this little plane sez to remove batt's from xmtr after flying, is that something I should be doing? Don't understand why that would be necessary.... thanks don

Do I have a problem,
I bought one of RadSchak 4 place batteery chargers and 8 radshack nimh 1.2v 2100mah batteries, for this avion-io plane I have...today after flying for about 20mins, I recharged the plane off the xmtr like it sez... no probs there, then took batts out of xmtr and put 4 in charger, they charged in about 40 mins...then put other 4 batts in and they were on charger for 2+ hrs, yet charger still going...don't make sense to me... also, when I looked in back of xmtr where one of the batts fit there was some whiteish powder around contacts...batts don't seem bloated or anything...these are like brand new batteries!?!?! Any ideas please?? thanks don <! / message ><! BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig ><! END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig >

Round 'n rounds today,
just got in from my round n rounds with the avion-IO...what fun...took some time to get my hands working well, but was able finally to keep the little fella in air for about 10mins at a time, whooeee...LOL...it is def hard to keep in a straight forward flite for any distance, it wants to spiral quite a lot, but I got better at it...and got dizzy a couple times too, LOL, from getting it overheard and trying to keep up with it...I seem to have a prob keeping it away from me...guess I'll learn.....but anyway much fun...no wind hardly, sun was up enuff to see things, and the dew was heavy on the ground, funny tho the rabbits all left when I got on the field!! I know this, if I had a real speedster, my old brain and hands would have a H""L of a time keeping up.....thanks for listening!! don

RE: I DID IT!!
Well I just took the plane out again, 61deg and no wind (for now)!!! I did about a dozen "round n rounds"....but the plane seems to be lacking power to get higher than 20ft or so... even with full throttle...and I had probs with it going into "death spiral" LOL...but all in all it was fun...I had fully charged it last eve, and put in the new batts for xmtr...I think my trims are set up well...may need to add a little "up" to the elevators after all...but anyway I'm having a blast just getting into the AIR!!!... don

RE: I DID IT!!
Rich, thanks, but I can assure you that my pension will limit those purchases...these radshack batts are for the xmtr, the little plane has built in lipo, if needed I can purchase one of those later...but I'm not going to be putting too much money into this...but of course I would like to be able too!!!! Hopefully this plane will last me awhile. tks don

I DID IT!!
mark this time down 6:50am local time...FIRST RC FLIGHT EVER!!! LOL, I feel like a 15yo instead of a 70yrold!!!...Took my little AVION-IO out across street to big lot (next to graveyard), and it FLEW!! I was nervous as could be of course...but used adv from here to just chuck it straight away from me with throttle all the way up and level, it started up and I made gentle turns with it for about 3 rotations, but, the little plane would not seem to get any altitude even tho throttle all the way up... had charged the plane when I got it in last week, and power lites seemed okay... but anyway I'm hooked now LOL..now I think I'm gonna get rechargeable batt's for the xmtr, (mebbe on next pension checkLOL)...and see if that increases power with better batteries.....anyway, flew for about 10 mins with no serious problems...this is all new, but dream has finally been realized...whooeeeee!!! don

Thanks Teen...most planes u mentioned are above my budget...but I am glad for your input....on building my old hands are so messed up with arthritis I can barely hold a large tool, let alone do detail stuff...so am looking at getting into the fly thing the cheapest, quickest way...I think the avion is how I'm gonna try this for now...and no I won't go out thinking to crash LOL... tanks again don

Nitro, this is one you recomended to me, so I found some vid's on u tube...I noticed in all vid's that the plane seems tail heavy, is this normal for the plane or what? Also since you recharge from the xmitter, how often do you need new batteries? I may get one if stimulus check comes in soon, & convince my better half!!!LOL... thanks baron
