RE: Looking for the right plane....
If you really want to expand your fun, buy a multiplex fun cub. You can get receivers cheap from hobby king , 6 each 9gram microservos, a motor and esc for a fairly great price. Batteries are also fairly inexpensive for a couple of 3S 2200 mAh batteries. I know it's not BNF, but it's a really fun plane to fly.

Also depends what prop you were using. Your really need to get a Watts Meter to check the amp draw to make sure your not burning up the ESC. I have a Eflite Park 370 witha 20A ESC turning an 8X4 prop. It is very happy with that set-up

RE: Jack Stafford Models
WOWPLANES.COM has a foam kit right now for electrics for $139.00. If I had the $$$ and time, I would get one Specifications: 62" span 37" long 3 to 4 lbs AUW 419 sq in wing area A beautiful full scale flying model of the world famous WWII Bomber. This is a builder's kit. Includes all pre-shaped foam and vacuum formed plastic parts. Requires some sanding. Finish in the color scheme of your choice. Kit Includes: (see pictures at the end of this page) After building two JS Kits (assemble all parts, then sand into the shape of an airplane), this might be a better alternative. Plus you can get one now! All pre-cut foam parts Full set of quality plastics with full scale details Detailed online construction manual. Suggested Power Setups: Note: *Trainer setup uses inexpensive brushed motors and a single ESC Sport setup uses brushless motors Perf.* Motor Prop ESC Battery Sport Rimfire 28-26-1600 6x4 4 x >10A 3S1P, 2100 maH, 20C Sport Eflite 370 Park 1360 KV 6x4 4 x >10A 3S1P, 2100 maH, 20C Sport AXI 2208/26 6x4 4 x >10A 3S1P, 2100 maH, 20C Trainer Speed 480 7.2V 6x4 1 x >60A 3S1P, 3700 maH, 20C You can get the 4 motors. ESCs, BEC and batteries from Hobbypartz.com (batteries) and the motors, BEC and ESCs from HeadsUp RC.com for really good prices - I would get the PowerUp 400 (less than $20 each) Jeff is a great guy to work with.

RE: Mini Ultra Stick
I'm really loving mine - it is in the truck everytime I go to the flying field. I'm running a APC 10X7E on a Heads Up RC Power Up 450 motor, Power Up 32A ECS and a 2200 Lipo. Unlimited vertical, fast, and a really great flying plane. Even though I bought a PowerUp 480 for it if it was not enough, I ended up putting the 480 on my GP P-47. Except for the landing gear breaking out once (another pilot was flying it), I've had no compliants at all. It's forcing me to get more electrics, especially with the price of fuel going up. I figure I can buy my batteries for $16 each and fly them all year, so the cost is actually coming down to fly. Plus, no clean-up, bad glowplugs, etc. Yeah, I still get ribbed by my buds at the field, but it sure is nice to just slap a battery in and fly in a minute!

RE: I'm going electric!! What should I get?
Yeah, I went cheap (been in this hobby too long), but the equipment is just as good if not better. Sometimes your paying more for the name than quality. Nothing against the major name brands, but when I can get 3 motors (with better performance)for the price of one, I'll do it. If I destroy it, I've not lost as much and will have its replacement in the shop!

RE: I'm going electric!! What should I get?
Bute 56 - Having recently started in electrics after 25+ years of Nitro this is what I did to get started: H9 Mini Ultra Stik $129 new ( i got mine in a trade) HeadsUpRC.com PowerUp 450 (less than $19.95) HeadsUpRC.com 32A ESC (less than $21.95) HeadsupRC.com Corona Recv (sorry its on 72) $15.25 (but Corona does make a 2.4 recv) Crystal was $2.95 HeadsUpRC.Com 9G Servos (4) each at $5.95 All shipped for $2.00 HobbyPartz.com 3S 20C 2200 mAh battery $16 plus the shipping costs ($6 if I remember right) basically all that new for less than $250. I know that you are looking at a budget of $400, but you might be able to find the radio cheap. The Mini Ultra Stik is a ball to fly even in strong winds and is my favorite knock around plane. A lot a people are going for the 480 on the Stik, but the PowerUp 450 reallys hauls the load, especially in the vertical. Plus, it all ships in fast from FL and CA

RE: Gentle Lady Conv. .049 to Electric
simitar - can I make a suggestion - I recently (in the last 3 months) found a partially built Spectra glider (about the same size (2M) as the GL) that I converted to a Brushless PowerUp 450 motor, 32Amp ESC and am using a 2200 mAh battery. If I remember right, less than $50 for the set-up (less battery I get those from HobbyPartz.com for $16). The motor and ESC came from HeadsUp RC.com located in Florida. Fast shipping, great prices and great customer service. The 450 BL is is more than adequate for the Gentle Lady to get it to altitude FAST. I am using a folding Prop 10X7 designed for the Radian Electric Glider from Horizon with great success. Just need to set the ESC for a Hard Brake to get the prop to fold. Yesterday morning, in cloudy conditions with no wind, I knocked out two 30 minute flights and barely had to charge my battery after each flight.

The squadron maintenance officer decided that an engine swap should be made and a newly uncrated PowerUp 480 was installed. Flight reports

Green Power Lipos from HobbyPartz and a couple of questions
A couple of questions that I hope someone can answer First question - Has anyone used these Lipos in your planes? Are they any good and do they stand up? Second question - is there a difference in a battery for a 450 helicopter (that's what the website says) and just for use in a plane. The reason I ask is that I'm still new to electrics and the price is very attractive. Thanks

E-Flite Mini Pulse Motor Suggestion
Trying to motivate myself to get into electrics, so I'm looking a the E-Flite Mini Pulse. I see the recommended motor is the Park 450BL, but wondering what other BL motor out there would do the trick for fewer $$. I know that I can get the batteries and ESC from Hobbycity but just don't know what motor is equivilent to the 450BL

RE: Fair price to pay for building an ARF
For me, every ARF is different. Trainers start at $100 and go up depending on the plane. The customer also pays for all glue and misc. parts & pieces. PNPs are still $100 minimum. Repairing a damaged plane is more costly for a customer, considering that sometimes, it takes twice as long to do a good repair than to build new. Again, I make sure the customer also pays for all glues, misc. parts & pieces, balsa, and covering. Some customers have frowned and tell me that I charging too much when I qoute them a price, but I tell them that the plane will be built correctly and will fly correctly. I also tell them that they are paying me for my skills and my time, if they don't like it, they can start out new like I did 30 years ago (NO ARFs back then). I give a first flight guarantee on new ARFs, that the plane will fly. If it does not fly correctly (i.e. trimmed for hands off flight), I fix it free of charge until it flys correctly. However, I am also the first to fly the plane. I do not build or repair for free, and that's only fair. At the flying field, I do not charge for my time in assisting and answering questions, or instructing. Needless to say, I do not make my living building or repairing model planes, but I don't work for free either.

I have (had - depending on whether I am flying it or not) a FS .70FS - perfect for the plane. As for the canopy, yes there is a gap on the plane and also on the full size. Smithsonian Air & Space Museum has one on display - I'll try to post some pictures this weekend.

RE: CMPro T-34 Build
Every T-34 that I've seen has some tail waggle (this also includes the TF and H9). My CG is at 85mm and it flies great. In previous posts, you'll see that I got rid of the factory nosegear for a Hobbico nosegear - not one problem from it (especially flying off grass). I gave mine a 7 also, but after getting some things adjusted, I give it a 8.5 overall (the covering likes to loosen up around the edges). I've also noticed the covering on the rudder is starting to darken up (now it just looks dirty white). It's a good semi-scale plane that fun to fly off the grass (when the grass is dry). The .70 4S is a great motor for it.

Just a quick update for this fun-fly. The weather is looking good for the weekend and the event name is spot on. Bring plenty of shade with you, sunny and hot expected with highs at a projected 97 degrees. Another update - the TV being raffled is a 26" not 20". You can still buy tickets at TJs RC Hobbies in Sherwood and do not have to be present to win. Or you can buy them at the fun-fly! Hope to see a lot of folks there, the events are ready and just have to be drawn from the hat!

blvd - you are a dog! I have only been fishing a few times this year, best fish was a 3lb largemouth. I have also caught a couple nice sized bream. Al caught bank fishing. Hopefully I'll be able to get out on the lake with my boat a lot more this summer and fall. You'll like the .70 on the T-34. Not a lot of vertical, but really good scale speed. Very good for scale manuevers.

RE: CMPro T-34 Build
Just a little update on my T-34. I replaced the Satio .65 with my OS .70 4S and used a 12X6 Evo prop. What a difference on performance. Flying off a gradd runway, I'm now able to get airborne a lot sooner. The plane was faster, but the ended up with a new problem. THe right side elevator developed a bad flutter. I traced it down to the elveator enlarging the hole where the elevator "U" connector is installed. Tried an old method of trying to strengthen it up by putting some thin CA in the area and using an elevator horn assembly to add some pressure. Didn't work. So, now that I'm back from vacation, I'm going to cut the elevator away, reinforce the hole with a piece of Sullivan golden rod and reinstall. Other thing that I have noticed is how the covering is letting go around the edges, but Oracote white matches well and I'm putting new pieces along the edges.
