New Monsson chassis?
Hi All I bent my chassis on my monsoon from a bad crash and was looking to buy a new one. When I searched chassis under monsoon, two parts came up. the one in the manual: 88004 http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.849850/id.905/.f?sc=14 no picture and : 50001 http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.849850/it.A/id.1294/.f the new one looks way stronger with the sides, but I got a sneaky suspicion that that is for the 1/5 scale and in the wrong section. anyone know for sure? thanks

RE: Center diff vs slipper
yeah I have to try to remember that. I occasionally forget and do land with the throttle on. Thats something I have to work on.

Center diff vs slipper
I was reading an article on the importance of not landing a jump with the throttle on and It got me thinking. The article stated that it puts tremendous stress on the drive train and that spur gears would strip. On way to help alleviate the problem would be to loosen the slipper a bit, but the best would be not to land with the throttle on. I do jump my earthquake and monsoon a fair bit and I do sometimes land with the throttle on, so I lossened the slipper on the quake a bit, but the monsoon come with a center diff and not a slipper. Is the center diff better than the slipper for landing on throttle and is there anyway to adjust it like on the quake? Just a little worried that I will strip the gears on the monsoon.

short clips testing out my new ramp and doing backflips
I finally got around to building a ramp this weekend and just had to try it. Its is height adjustable and when I got it steep enough, I was able to get my monsoon to backflip! I only had a camera phone with me so the video are just short clips, but I was a heck of alot of fun. RE: Locktite
You can also try using the gel loctite. I find that it is less messy to use and you waste less than the liquid loctite.

RE: beat up body
Fiberglass tape for drywall and shoe goo works really well. Stick the tape on the inside of the body where the crack is and then spread shoe goo over it. You can also use goop instead of shoe goo.....I think its a bit cheaper and its the same stuff.

I think I come and watch at least (if its the 12). Can't make it if its on the 19th though.....St. Pierre is fighting serra that day an no way i'm missing that. [:D]. If its the 12th I'm not sure if I will run on the track though.......I never ran on a track with other people or even seen it in person, so I don't know what to expect. I'll come watch on the 12th though and meet everybody. Count me in for now unless something really urgent come up. Btw what would everyone be bringing to the track? If i do decide to run, I'll probably bring my monsoon or earthquake....I don't think the tornado is quite ready for a track yet.

RE: RED CAT ANYONE?
Redcat Support is second to none. The owner of the company frequents the support forum and deals with problems. He asks for input on upcoming models and problems that can be improved with current models. He is willing to replace parts (ie FM transmitter) if it is found that the majority of people are having issue with it. In my book thats top notch customer support.

RE: REDCRAP FM RADIO
Would this also apply to people in Canada? I love the Am radios that I got with my shockwave and quake, but not the FM that I got with the Mosoon. Either way, its okay, since I have already replaced it. But it would be nice to have a spare though. We would have to trade in the servo's also? Why not just the radio and receiver?

RE: Part for Monsoon
ORIGINAL: Redharris need2drag...... There is a p/n listed in My manual for that Front Body Mount. p/n is 88030. The picture DOES look wrong though, so I'm not sure if it is Correct.
I needed the exact same part 88030, but it isn't listed on the redcat site. The redcat rep said that 83009 is the right part. After cross referencing the number, I noticed that it is the same part as the earthquake mount. I took that mount off of my earthquake, and while it does fit, the posts are wider apart. I needed to make the holes in the body slighty further apart. I do see however that there is part 88015 listed for the monsoon, but there is no picture, so i don't know if that is the right part.

Hey Clermont...what happened with that BUKU pipe you were testing? I totally forgot about that post until my friend asked me about that pipe today. I remember in that post you were waiting for a reply from the manufacturer to respond before posting what happened. Have they responded yet?

RE: Help with tires
I just finished dyeing and gluing my new wheels and tires for my monsoon. I wanted a different look for my H2 body, so I went with these wheels: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/20885 and these tires: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_26_58/products_id/21338 they come out to be the same size as the stock monsoon wheels + tires. The only difference between the stock wheels and the Rulux is that the Rulux wheels are 1/2 offset. The stock wheels look like more than 1/2 offset...maybe 3/4 offset (?). the track width is slightly reduced with the rulux. BTW: Greathobbies is very good since you are in canada since they are very fast with shipping and they only charge you what it actually cost to ship you the package. Here are some pictures I took:

Thanks ehroof ! I tried going down to my local hardware store, but the only grub screws they had were not metric. Pretty strange if you ask me though since I am in Canada[:D] ANyways, I'll order the M3*3 to replace mine. Just curious, but what are the M4*4 used for? I don't see any larger grub screws on both my 1/8 (earthquake, monsoon) or 1/10 (tornado) redcats. I do however see a smaller where the pipe is secured to the wire hanger.

RE: Glitching Radio Crash
ORIGINAL: jumpanddrop mhhm. im not sure. you could just spend a little more money and buy the one i listed on the bottom. i have the stock am radio on my hpi and it go's far. like so far that i cant tell which what the car is pointing. i dont think you need any better range then that[:D]. i think that the servo's on the 1/8 are preaty good for stock one's but a new radio system would be sweet[:D]. i think that redcat could do it for the same price as the one they are using now.
I also find the the Futaba 2ph my quake has great range already. I don't think that I would dare go far enough to take advantage of the extra range offered by the fm system. Maybe thats why I don't notice a difference in range between the fm and am radio. Since I am tight on cash, I will probably get the 2ph.

RE: Glitching Radio Crash
[:o] Now you all have me worried. I have not had any problems with my FM radio yet, but I think I should just get another radio before mine craps out. I think I'll just get another Futaba 2ph since I have that for the Quake and its a good solid radio and cheap too. My only concern is the loss of range switching from FM to AM. Anyone know what the difference (if any) in range between the two bands? I haven't really noticed any increase in range of the stock FM vs the Futaba AM, so I'm guessing its negligible.

New monsoon body and bumper!
I wrecked my monsoon body due to my crappy jumping skills and decided to get myself a proline body. I always thought that the monsoon body looked a little too narrow for the wide stance of the monsoon, so I test fitted my LST body and it looked like it should have from the factory. I ended up getting a LST hummer h2 body and I also put on a ofna mutilator bumper (the bumper almost fits, but requires some dremel work and fabrication of an upper mount to fit). Hope you enjoy the pictures!
