RE: Hangar 9 60cc Corsair
Nick, I do not have that dimension with me so when I get back from Joe Nall I will post that info

RE: Hangar 9 60cc Corsair
Ok guys the Saito FG 84 will fit into the cowl but the engine has 2.5 degrees of right thrust and that will cause the engine to displace enough to now allow the rocker cover to make contact with the cowl It might be possible to grind back some of the rocker cover enough to provide clearance or you could install the engine with no right thrust and set up a mix in your Tx for right rudder based upon throttle setting I believe Peter Goldsmith our team Horizon field marketing manager will be doing just that Have been having a blast flying mine on a Zenoah G62 at Joe Nall Bill

RE: Hangar 9 60cc Corsair
77cc radial consumes 2-3 oz per minute depending upon your throttle management and the tank included with the Corsair is 22 oz Like John mentioned we should have the manual up tomorrow

RE: Hangar 9 60cc Corsair
Guys We are at Nall this week and when I get the chance I will test the cowl fit over the Display Saito radial, I do not believe the engine will fit, but will let you know for sure. For reference there is 2.5 degrees of right thrust built into the firewall We have two G62 powered Corsairs at Joe Nall flying on 22x 10 Falcon and Mejzlik carbon props and the performance is fantastic and for me is the perfect combination Keep in mind that with the G62 you need 14-17 oz of additional nose weight to achieve the recommended C/G so a lighter engine just means more lead to balance Bill Brundle

RE: Hangar 9 30cc P-47 Build Thread
An update on the retracts and the optional parts i.e. cockpit tub and EP power. The retracts were delivered personally by the owner of Robart Friday so these should be processed and ready for shipping next week. The cockpit tub was missing the correct paper instrument panel, but these were received earlier this past week so these should be in stock and also ready for shipping next week. The EP battery trays are enroute to us and we should have these in stock within a couple of weeks. Sorry for the delay on this, but the item failed QA and we are rushing new parts to correct the issue.

Al, Thanks As a member if the H9 team I can tell you that we try very hard to provide you the modeler with products that fly great and look great. The options recommended for this model have been thoroughly test flown by me personally and as the developer on this bird I am confident that by using the recommended set up parts will ensure you have a great experience.

RE: New Hanger 9 P-47 30cc and electric friendly
mobyal, Sounds like you will have your own Squadron. The model will be an easy conversion to Electric especially if you use the optional battery tray and motor extension box. What motors will your fellow flyers be using? The P-47 has become my favorite as it is so fogiving on the ground and is so predictable on approach. I will keep you boys updated with the ETR as I obtain new info and in teh meantime let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to hearing your comments on this bird was you receive yours.

RE: New Hanger 9 P-47 30cc and electric friendly
Foundryratjim- You should have no problem fitting the Saito or the Zenoah into the P-47 as the firewall is set to allow for the Saito FG 30 and it requires 158mm from firewall to prop hub. Not sure of the DLE, but I suspect you will need to add standoffs. I think you might find that the performace in the Zenoah might be marginal as the model is a 30cc warbird. Mobyal- Yes thoes servos will work fine for all surfaces. We are using a new premade aileron servo mount that will require you to glue the included servo spacers onto the mount to align the JR servo arm with the center of the servo cover slot. The fuselage and flap servos will not require the spacers. Still looking at the end of the year to receive the first shipment.

RE: New Hanger 9 P-47 30cc and electric friendly
Brian, The wing span is identical to the previous P-47 razorback as this model shares the same proven airfoil and planform. I am currently flying the model with an Evolution 40GX gas engine. THe FG 36 would be a good choice for power, but you will need to modify the modelt to allow the carb of the big Saito to recess into the firewall. We are waiting from some calm days to shoot video. I will let you know once it is up on HH.com and will also let you know once the manaul is available for review online. Thanks and I look forward to meeting some of you guy next year as we are planning to travel to quite a few events next year with this bird. Stay tuned for some really cool new releases next year as we have been extremely busy lately with development

RE: New Hanger 9 P-47 30cc and electric friendly
MobyAl, We are looking at Late December early January for the first shipment. The model will include 3 decal sets so I would sure like to see some photos once you guys have them all finished up and flying. The model is designed to use our Eflite Power 160 on 10S. The EP standoff mount and a really cool battery tray will be offered as an optional part. The tray has a mounting platform that you assemble and glue into the are where the fuel tank would reside for a gas model. The batteries are secured to a plywood removable tray using velcro straps and then inserted and held in place by a tab towards the front of the tray and 2 4-40 SHCS at te rear corners.

Daniel, The new cowl will fit the older model razorback, but you will need to grind out the internal hidden mounting formers on the new cowl.

RE: New Hanger 9 P-47 30cc and electric friendly
Guys, Just to help clarify a few specifics about the landing gear that Robart is producing for Hangar 9 to specifically fit the new P-47D Thunderbolt. The stock Robart 631 units and the model specific units that Robart developed for the previous Hangar 9 razorback will bolt into the mounting rails of this new model, but that is about the only similarity. The new units have a custom length strut and the lower oleo leg has been altered to allow for clearance of the new larger 5 1/8" wheel so the stock struts will not work. The new strut has attachment holes for the gear doors and also some standoffs that will keep the door aligned flush to the surface of the wing. The retracts will include the air install kit and all the bits and pcs for a complete install. The model will come with inner gear doors that you will cut for the clearance of main wheels and then glue into the model, but for those looking to have working inner gear doors you could hinge these doors and then use either a servo or small air cylinder to actuate and sequence these inner doors. We will be working on a full build video prior to release showing the assembly of this model along with some pretty cool how to scale techniques.

RE: New Hanger 9 P-47 30cc and electric friendly
Prop Wash, The retracts for this model should fit. The only issue you will be faced wtith may be the scissor link may not completely fit into the wheel well area as the current model has larger wheel well. The mounting holes for the Robart unit are also slightly different than the H9 units, but the amount is slight and you should be able to remove a littel material from the Robart retract mounting holes with a dremel.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Guys, About the nylon control horns. I considered not using the nylon backing plate and just securing the control horn into a hard point in the control surface, but my concern was that the thickness of the control surface, especially the aileron is so thin that the screw would have to be so short that the potential for the control horn to pull out in flight was too much of a potential failure issue for most of our consumer base modelers.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Guys, Here is the straight and skinny in the Jackal 50. All Fast Forward orders to our dealers always go out at least 2 days prior to shipping all consumer direct orders. Dealer orders went out last Thursday and all consumer direct orders began to ship today. Wehave enough stock on hand to fill all current back orders so you should all begin to see your airframes at teh latest toward the end of this week. Now that I-hobby in Chicago is overwith I am going to head out to the field with a gallon of fresh fuel and fly until I have used up the entire gallon. I am looking forward to seeing many of you complete and fly yours, so keep us posted and if I can be of any help then let me know

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Sonny, This main issue you will run into is the weight difference between a .61 & our small case 60NX. The Jackal is a 50 sized model, but our new 60NX is the same dimensinally as our 52 or typical 55 size 2-stroke, so it is really the perfect combination for this airframe along with the new mini pipe. The 60NX weighs close to 7 oz. less than a comparable .61 2-stroke including the Evolutiojn .61NX and as the battery is already placed in the tail of the Jackal for balancing with the recommended set up so if you run the heavier .61 engein be prepared to add considerable weight to the tail to balance. The engine range is .46-.55 for th Jackal. I hope this helps

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Guys, The Jackal 50's have arrived and I just wrapped up QA and they look great. Mike thanks for clarifying the original design as I must have not paid close enough attention during many of our meetings. If you are in the Chicago area this coming weekend be sure and stop in to the Intenational Hobby Expo (I-Hobby) as we will have Jackal on display along with a few other new H9 releases. The Jackal should begin to ship to our dealers this Thursday/Friday and then begin shipping to anyone who purchased directly from our HH.com store the beginning of next week. The best propeller I found during development of the Jackal 50 is an APC 10x7 using the new Evolution 60NX and Evoltion muffler(this pipe/muffler has been modified by Jett specfically for use with the 60NX). With this combination you will need to change out the stock GP1 glow plug that is included with the 60NX for either an HAN3011 Super plug or similar, such as a MC-#9.

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Guys the Jackals are at the Dock in CA and so we anticipate shipping these before the end of this month. As far as the retracts go we have not yet installed any of the E-flite retracts. The 60-120 units a share the same mouting dimensions, but the extension lead exits the top of hteretract and makes the unit too tall to fit intot the very thin wing of the Jadkal. The 25-40 size retracts which are not yet avaiilable should work well in the JAckal, but the mounting dimensions are smaller and you may have to do some additional modeleing to get these to work. As soon as we eturn from I-hobby later this month I am planning to install the 25-40 size electrics and will let you all know the results. By the way these 25 - 40 size retracts should not be any heavier than the Robart units the model was designed around. If you are thinking about installing the mechanical version of the new Robart PRS landing gear (our part number HAN502) into the Jackal remember that these landing gear were designed to be able to be converted from mechanical to Pneumatic (HAN501) by purchasing hte air cylinder upgrade kit (HAN502A) I worked together with Robart to develop this new landing gear for possible inclision into future Hangar 9 releases. The idea was to include the mechanical unit wth the kit(lower cost ) and then if hte consumer wanted Pneumatic retracts he could easily upgrade these by the addition of air cylinder kit.

RE: H-9 Phoenix 7 build note! mis-print!!
Dubro makes a 5 or 6 inch ( can not recall which) muffler extension that you can cut to the length needed. This will fit the bolt pattern on the 60NX Great looking photo,

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Hi Sonny, The rear hatch has two full size servo openings. While developing the model we were not sure if we were going to need additional weight in the tail to maintain C/G so we set up the tail for 2 servos. We ended up not needing the 2nd servo, but we decided to leave the 2nd opening which would allow for placement of a 2nd servo for those guys choosing to install a heavier engine than shown in the manual. A 2nd servo in the tail would move the C/G quite a lot considering the moment arm for the location of the added 2+ oz. for the additioanal servo. I would use 2 mini servos and make an adapter plate to reduce the size of the servo opening if I was going to install 2 servos. The Jackal behaves quite well at any speed and although it was designed with speed in mind,. but I do like to fly it around at a reduced throttle setting doing low slow flight like horizontal figure 8's with the flaps down. Looks really cool down close to the tops of the corn.
