Eflite Blade CP+
I saw this heli over on Horizon's website: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=EFLH1105 I'm mostly wondering what people think of it. I've flown a Blade CX and heli's on the sim, but never owned one and I'd like to get one. I'd really like to a Thunder Tiger Mini Titan, but no one at the club I fly at now has a helicopter so I'm little hesitant to spend $800+ on the Mini Titan. Is this something that I could get a play around with to get the hang of things or should i hold onto my money?

RE: OMP Hybrid Edge 540 Build
I second XPS being the culprit of your crash. I lost an airplane on the 7th flight because of it. I know it wasn't the batteries, switches, or regulator because they're still good and I'm still using parts of them. The parts that I didn't keep, I sold to friends and they haven't had any problems. I was just doing a go-around because I wasn't going to make the runway and it stopped responding. Anyways, nice build! I've thought about getting one of these myself.

YS/Saito 20/20 in OS 46FX
I have an OS 46FX that I'm currently running 30% Heli fuel in. I've added two head gaskets to prevent detonation in the engine and it runs great. I recently moved and I'm about to run out of the 30% Heli fuel and the max nitro the LHS carries is PowerMaster YS/Saito 20/20. Should I remove the head gaskets I added to the engine to run this fuel or what should I do to get the most power out of it?
ORIGINAL: Pat Roy Good idea Ben. If people limit the input to DA only comparisons and leave other manufacturers out of it this should be something pretty useful.
Well, I'm just starting out with something simple. A lot of DA 85's have been sold and should be broken in. Tom Fawcett did a comparison between the 85 and 100 and had some really interesting results

Those who contribute, go ahead and let me know what oil you're using and at what ratio. Might look for comparisons within prop and engine with different oils and ratios.

DA/DL50, DA 85, DA 100 Stats
Ok, I'm trying to gather data on a few different model engines in order to make statistical determinations on performance and comparisons. If you're interested in how the DA 85 compares to the DA 100 or how the DA 50 really compares to the DL 50, then I need your data. This IS NOT to start any brand or model wars. It is to make a true comparison using engines around the country. Please send what engine you have, the top RPM (taken with a tachometer), what prop(s) you're using, what's your exhaust set up (specifics are welcome), and what the altitude of your flying field is to modelenginecomparison@yahoo.com. The comparison will only be as good as the data set and I need people to contribute. This is discreet so no one can start any arguments and so there's no need for you to inflate your RPM numbers. I will post the results once I have enough data to make the comparison. For those who care to know, I'm going to be using SAS 9.1 with a mixed model (Proc Mixed) approach. I'm going to separate the groups by engine and exhaust among the props. Depending on it's effect, I may also further separate by altitude. Probably go with 0-3500 ft. and 3501-7500 ft. ranges, but we'll see once I get some data. I'm going to consider engine and exhaust as fixed effects and altitude as random effects. My model will be RPM = engine | exhaust | altitude.

RE: FP V-Balancer Compatability
They don't have them. Their taps are designed for up to 4 cells or up to 5. So for a 6S pack, I would imagine you would just do two of the 2S-4S taps. I imagine you would just do it the same way and plug each tap into one of the two ports of their 10S balancer.

RE: FP V-Balancer Compatability
So it would be wired differently? I know the balancing taps would be different, but would you configure a 6S pack like a 4S and 2S or would you separate it into 2 3S configurations?

RE: FP V-Balancer Compatability
You may know this better than me, but are FlightPower and Thunder Power more or less the same company? Similar names and the balancing taps are the same. Oh, and if I got your pack set up with the CellPro taps, it would be the same wiring as with a TP/FP tap, right?

FP V-Balancer Compatability
I have two questions: The first question is about the Maxamps packs compatability with the Flight Power V-Balancer. I have one of these balancers that I use with my smaller packs, but I'm considering doing a 50cc conversion project. If I did it, I would like to use Maxamps 6S 5000maH packs for power (I would connect them in series for 12S total). When you put the TP balancing taps on, would you just do two 3S taps? I was looking at a picture of a 6S FP pack and I see two connections with 4 wires each. So, they basically have two 3S taps on each 6S pack for balancing. I'm assuming if Maxamps also did this, then one of your 6S packs would also be compatible, right? The reason why I ask, is FP says that the V-Balancer is only compatible with their batteries, but that can't be completely true. If you were to build a battery pack with their diagrams for doing the balancing taps, then that pack should be compatible as well. I attached a picture. My second question is about using a CellPro 4S charger to charge 6S packs. I have one of these chargers on the way because I need to charge A123 packs. Would I be able to charge a 6S Maxamps pack using two of the CellPro 4S chargers or do I need to stick with my V-Balancer? I'm more or less know what I'm doing when it comes to anything with a single balancing tap, but these multiple tap packs are something that will be new to me. Anyways, I've done some research on the Maxamps packs and I really like what I'm seeing. Your packs are lighter than the FP and seem to be just as durable. They may take a little longer to "break in" but I can live with that with the weight savings.

RE: Which is the best ELECTRIC Yak-73" config?
I'd look in to a Neu 1515/3D with a 6.7:1 gearbox or a Hacker A60-18M on a Castle 110HV Phoenix ESC. I've been doing research in to a similar plane and I've decided that either of the two motors are the way to go. They seem to like the Mejzlik 20x11E prop as well, but an APC 20x10E is also good. As far as batteries, most seem to like the 5000maH batteries in a 10S configuration. I'm planning on doing two Maxamps 5S 5000maH packs connected in series for my project in the future. It also seems that anything in the 4000-5000maH range seems to work good as long as you can supply the amps. Flight times are reduced as pack capacity is reduced, but weight also goes down.

I don't think you can use channels 13 and 14; however, I think they are also not proportional like the other switches. I.E. They're an on/off type channel.

RE: 34% Colombo Anderson Extra 300L Buld!!
Well, I keep running in to problems with the Dalton, but they're related to my current situation and not the manufacturer. Dalton has been flawless in customer support and the kept is awesome. Basically, I've recently moved back to TX and I bought a house. So, I don't think I can afford to crash a 35% plane and so I'm going to stick to something smaller. Then there is the cost of moving and now that I have a house, I need to watch what I buy. I really want a kit I can build myself, but I need something that I don't need to sheet the wings. My parents bought a workbench for me, but you can't sheet wings on it right now because the surface is not perfect flat. I need to either have it planned down or get a piece of marble to put on top of it to sheet on. So, I'm trying to find something that maybe I can build and that won't break the bank. I'd like to get an EF Yak or the Extra 300 that's about to be available, but shipping on those things is over $100 alone. Another thing that is making me think about the CA Extra is because people rave about how they fly and Brillelli is working on an 80cc engine, which I think would be perfect. I just need to do some research.

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
I've read some of the posts of this thread and I was wondering what would be a typical weight for the Yak and a Brillelli 366? I plan on setting the airplane up with 2 Fromeco 2600 maH packs on the RX and I'm going to stick with an aluminum spinner, but I will get one with a lightened backplate. I'll also use Kavan wheels to counteract the extra weight of the spinner.

RE: Fuel System Setup Help
First, you don't want to use those ceramic clunks, they don't work very well from what I've read. What I do is use the regular clunk on just a piece of tygon for fueling/ de-fueling. Then I use a DuBro heavy clunk for the carb. I get some of the DuBro fuel barbs and solder them to a short piece of brass tubing. Then I use tygon between the connections and they are long enough so the clunk can follow the fuel so to speak. The heavy clunk helps it get around the tank to. I have over 100 flights with this set up and I will continue to use it. I've never had a problem.
