RE: ICON 312 Barely Flying...
Electrics boils down to power-to-weight ratios, Watts per pound. If you want a certain level of performance, the plane needs to be powered with a certain number of Watts based on its weight. Take an existing power system and put it into a plane that's twice as heavy, and you just cut your power-to-weight ratio in half. It's pretty much a given that the plane's performance will be... disappointing to say the least.
Lets put it this way, the ICON is no shocky as to power-to-weight ratios. If flies heavy. If you want a great pattern ship you will like this plane. DO NOT land it on grass. For 150 bucks I think of all the foamies I could have had.[8|]

RE: ICON 312 Barely Flying...
ORIGINAL: Greg Covey The problem is not with the plane but with your choice of power system. First, the HA 2015-4100 motor is not Hacker but Himax brand. Second, it is only a 100 watt class motor and you need a 200-300 watt class motor. The HA 2025-4200 motor is a better choice at 175 watts.
I had the 2025-4200 with a Colbri gear box, had plenty of power, just built very poorly. It is a nice plane, for 153 dollars!!!!!!!! The lil Banchee IS three times the value!!!! AND..... is built much better.
ORIGINAL: JohnVH www.3dfoamy.com Blows the shockies out of the water as I have both... FOr that matter, blows all the competition out of the water.
SO DO I. I have the SU-28 and It doesn't float and hover like the superstar, OR the Yak. I wouldn't fly it in a gym (16ozs.) It (3dfoamy) is better in the wind and is more percise the the shocky but I still like my shockies!

I think there are some in Arizona and New Mexico. Almingordo NM has a field that cost 2.00 per visit. AMA is required.

RE: Lets see those airbrush jobs!!!!!!
Well I FLEW MY Sukhoi on it's maiden today. It really flies like a pattern ship; seem to be a little nose heavy (had to push on the stick to keep it level inverted), I need to put a little down thrust in the motor which is maybe why it feels nose heavy. Doesn't want to hover as well as my shocky. It lands fast and hard, doesn't want to slow down. Haven't tried to knife edge it yet. I will tweek (sp) it little bit more. I think it will be a good plane for windy days! It just seems heavy to me.

Here's a picture of the tail feathers of my 3D Foamy SuKhoi. Since my main colors are yellow and purple, I had to have a purple motor mount for my purple Hacker motor. So I had some scraps of Purpleheart and I now have an exotic motor mount!

Bill, I think your plane wasn't that pitch sensitive! I can't wait for you to fly my lil banchee; so you can compare the two. I flew it yesterday and it flew the best it ever has. You and I are just spoiled on our shockys! they're just too hard to beat. I flew mine at Jim's and broke off the wheels in his parking lot. So another repair. Call me when you're going flying. BTW we are closer to get into a gym to fly!!!!!!!
