Disco...FWIW...I think the train has left the station and you will not be getting a Shockwave from Elite. Honestly I can't blame them for not wanting you as a customer. Your behavior, attitude and overall demeanor all send signals...and they say "stay away". Why would Elite want your name in their customer data base? You are hassling them online, complaining ETC and you are not even a customer. Sorry, but that's just howIi see it. Pablo is one of the most upstanding, straight shooting no BS guys out there...if his word is not good than no one's is. Beave PS. I'm picking up my new Shockwave from Pablo at Kentucky...turnkey. I can't wait!

RE: Battery for Rhino Kero Start
Common. A couple of years ago Eric almost caught his RV on fire in Kentucky when his Viper battery did the same thing while he was charging it in the back bedroom. After that, overnight battery charging was prohibited at Kentucky so we would not burn the hangar down. I threw all of mine away a long time ago and would not use one for anything. Beave

RE: Question to Jet Event Contest Directors
Kirk, Maybe that was not your intent, but it sure came out that way. No worries... Thanks...ever since switching to the awesome Jetcat Spt-5 V3 Turbo Prop unit I have had nothing but success with now over 200 flights logged. It's a blast and from what I have heard...the electric Tucano flies just as nice...just no smoke (which is half the show)! Take it easy, Boli
ORIGINAL: k_sonn Actually, no. I stated the JPO VP was the CD of JOW at the time the decision was made for the JOW event. I referred to a specific event and did not use a blanket statement as you did. Boli, I wish you many happy flights with your Tucano. RE: Question to Jet Event Contest Directors
Correct...that is how it should be done. Furthermore, I believe helicopters are considered "rotorcraft"...not "aircraft" per say so that pretty much answers the heli part of the discussion. I guess anyway...lol. Beave
ORIGINAL: Wclays That is correct it is up to the CD. The CD could list the Class C event as restricted to turbine powered aircraft or list it as a Jet aircraft powered by a turbine, ducted fan, or EDF. Both listings will get you a mixture of aircraft. We list that the aircraft must be able to taxi out and back, plus fly the pattern. This eliminated the hand launch stuff and I guess powered gliders. So each event is tailor to the CD discretion, but the CD has to make hard choices because there is always someone to push the rules setup by the CD. It is also important that that CD establish the rules and safety of the flying. Clay
RE: Question to Jet Event Contest Directors
Well, The President of the JPO just told me "they require a turbine waiver which makes them turbine powered aircraft so yes they should be allowed to fly". Beave
ORIGINAL: k_sonn Thanks for the response Clay. The former CD for JOW, who is also the VP for the JPO, declared the same thing a few years ago. Basically, if it needs a prop or rotor to fly, it's not a jet even if it uses a turbine to turn a prop or rotor. Just for kicks, would an EDF powered glider be allowed to fly at events where turbine powered gliders are flown? RE: Can a 757 do rolls?
David, I prefer rolling the 767 over the 757 because of the 767 having 4 ailerons active below 280 knots. Of course, I also turn off the yaw dampers prior to the rolls but that's just me...it seems to point roll better that way...lol. Kids...they do the funniest things. Jack brought the boys up for a look see in the cockpit prior to takeoff. (Quique the youngest was nervous and was hesitant to come in too far) but Santiago hopped into my seat and looked around absorbing the moment. He then looked up at the seatbelt sign, asked what it was and we told him. He turned it on and then said "can I go to my seat now?". After the flight he asked about the no smoking sign switch. He watched it the entire flight and the sign never went off so he asked me "why have a switch for it if you never turn it off?". I did my best version of uh umm uh till I was able to distract him with the engine fire warning bells. He's a pretty bright kid...he must get his smarts from Grandpa...ahem. Beave [8D]

Well...we had weather on takeoff...weather enroute...they kept us too high on the arrival...they wanted 300 or greater above 10...180 to 5 DME...the wind was ripping...the ILS to 28L was OTS and even with all that going for me...I still blew the landing...LOL. At least Santiago and Quique got some fresh cookies! Beave [:D]

Jeff, I've had 3 different motors on the "Bolicat" and by far...the P100 is the winner! I have not done a single thing to the ECU, change wise...I'm running it like it arrived out of the box with no adjustments anywhere. It's weird you are having that issue...I dunno. RE: Jets Over Kentucky Week 2012 /
Man...what a show! Lewis has again made it a tremendous success with Jets over Kentucky! His dedication all the year round preparing for JOK really paid off again with tremendous results. There are so so many great guys I hung out with I can't even begin to name them so I'll just say woo hoo to everyone! A couple of guys I will mention are Richard and Lukey...thanks for letting me fly your jets all week...you guys wiped me out. Between my stuff and theirs, I was flying 11 airplanes...man was that a rush. Of all the flights, I think the one I will remember (besides the red Velox XL with Bobcat wings doing the Cobra/deep stall tumble) was one of my flights with the F-100. It was real busy on the flight line and I was kind of tired so I took off, rolled inverted and proceeded to fly the entire flight upside down, low pass after low pass...inverted...just to be different. Somehow, Jake Bottita and the guy standing next to him saw what I was doing so they too rolled inverted (both flying Bandits) and formed up on me and we mad a 3 ship inverted pass...which actually looked pretty good. I hope someone got a pic of the pass... The evening activities were as usual just a blast...and I appreciate the friendship and laughs. Again, a big thanks to Lewis for his hard work...it's all because of you that we have the great times that we enjoy. Hurry up 2013...I'm ready to come back!!! Beave [:D]

RE: Jets Over Kentucky Week 2012 /
Exactly two years ago...at 2:50 in the afternoon I landed my Lightning after making another fun flight with it and found my phone ringing. I answered it to my wife sort of frantically telling me "get home...the baby is coming!" (a week and a half early sort of in my defense...LOL). Well, a little bit of panic...a few phone calls made and I was out of there...leaving my planes, RV, trailer...everything...sitting right where I left it and heading to Florida. 7 hours after the call I was standing in the hospital in Boca Raton looking at out little Angel...arriving at the hospital about 40 minutes after she took her first breath. Today she is two years old, loves R/C planes (yes, my wife is not too happy about that...ahem) and according to Lewis is the Original and Official "Jets over Kentucky Baby". Life...it's really good sometimes... See you all there! Boli PS. Zoom in on the map and you will see exactly where I was at the moment Marley was born.
