i imagine it could be adapted to fit on a 1:10 Slash 2wd chassis (just for kicks)... @$30, count me in. you might have some luck with those 3D Printers... it might cost less that way?

RE: My Baja 5B FULL ALUMINUM Gold/Silver [Part 2] 2011
when they say it's an expensive hobby, they usually mean keeping the car running. :D looks nice, but a little over-dramatic and repetitive (background music) If you can change up the music a little, I think it would enhance the video- watching experience. Also, maybe a quicker fade between silver-alum part to gold-alum replacement, since the video drags a little. (If you want to be spiffy, do the 360 spin around a part, but have it transition after 120 degrees) it's all about pacing, and you don't want to lose the attention-deficit audience.

RE: DANG! I got the rc buying bug!
[quote]ORIGINAL: markfos73 I'm thinking about how many RC cars I could buy with the money I just shelled out to rent a beach house. I can't figure out why the wife and kids prefer a vacation over me getting more cars [:D] [/quote] haha, that's true... the two Disney annual passes my wife wanted far outweighs the Slash 2wd. Fedex seems to think I might get my hands on the Slash tomorrow instead of the 7th... anticipation mounting.

RE: Losi 1/18 mini desert buggy
Thanks for the welcome, Chuck. After more research and analysis paralysis and overthinking, I ended up taking my son to the park to play with his toy RC truck. Its top speed is slower than we walk! :) What I noticed was our local area is limited to a park and we'll end up running on a lot of grass... I think the 1/18 won't be able to handle it (even upgraded) so, I'm gonna have to change forums now and head over to the 1/10 truck area... Slash is set to arrive on the 4th :) (yeah, we blew our $150 budget by almost double... I hang my head down with shame. ok, shame's done. can't wait to drive it around next week.)

RE: Losi 1/18 mini desert buggy
Hi all, About to get my desert buggy. It'll be my first non-toy rc car. looks like I'm jumping into this too late, since no one's selling them for $100. from reading through this thread (5 hours of reading...), I'm wondering how many of you are still running stock shocks (since I doubt I'm mechanical enough to figure out how to attach/jerryrig aluminum shocks) or maybe a better question is, how many aftermarket parts have you needed to buy to keep the thing rolling? $150 is already a lot to spend to start a hobby, and I learned my lesson from trying to fly a e-heli (Eagle 50 never even got off the ground before I broke it... should find time to figure out what popped on that too... some day) Thanks in advance and thanks for all the vids you've posted... (tomorrow will be my last chance to return shipment before receiving to avoid any charges)

RE: Losi Mini Desert Buggy
don't know if you solved this or not, but reading this, I'm wondering if your new ESC might be in the 'training' mode that I see mentioned on some models... (at least the 1/10 ones that have mode 1 = normal, mode 2 = racing (no reverse), and mode 3 (default) = training (half speed))

happy new year, Andy still haven't received the replacement parts to make the defective-on-delivery heli work. Can you check if it's been sent? I hope it didn't get lost in the mail. Thanks. waiting for part 50H03-09 and 50H03-38. xheli Order Number: 463747

RE: eagle 50 - blade pop off while spinning up?
to clarify, the horizontal stabilizer was horizontal, but pivoted around one of the two screws that keeps the white flat surface to the black holding clamp. it was not sticking up and in the way of the main blade in any way. when the blade popped off, it ended up caught against the tail and against the horizontal stabilizer.

RE: eagle 50 - blade pop off while spinning up?
[quote]ORIGINAL: yadac123 looks like we sent you 1 x 50h03-22 for you to fix the heli. Andy [/quote] yes, the heli came with a loose horizontal stabilizer that i reported when i initially received the heli. I reported that the seal looked tempered with and that the tail stabilizer was loose. got impatient after a couple of days and decided to just do the 'battery-one' spin up and down, when the blade popped off as described above.

RE: eagle 50 - blade pop off while spinning up?
Sorry, been away from keyboard. Does 50H03-09 come with directions on how to get the 'part that rotates on top of the ball socket' back into the 'part that pitches and yaws the ballsocket' ? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's in the bottom most picture. (can you provide instructions on putting it in, since I couldn't find that in the pilot's manual) Thanks Andy. I'll PM you the order number. [quote]ORIGINAL: yadac123 sorry we do not allow walkin as we are not B&M store. what's your order number? part 50H03-09 as replacement. You can snap back together the swash. Andy [/quote]

eagle 50 - blade pop off while spinning up?
Andy, help... this is very sad. I hooked up my newly purchased Eagle 50 and started working on 'battery one' of RADD's today. (That's the throttle up and down one) So, I throttle up to the 3rd click and the Eagle is still on the ground. no problem. Did this a couple of times, then went on to the 4th click, where the eagle was still on the ground, when the blade popped off and the heli fell over and out of control. :( one of the blades smacked into the horizontal stabilizer fin (that i've already reported). I quickly throttled down, and brought in inside. Here's what the heli blade / center post area looks like. [image]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3256/3088441150_d98e09f968.jpg[/image] [image]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3169/3088441158_c36d2294e6.jpg[/image] [image]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3252/3088441166_6e4d058917.jpg[/image] it seems like one of the blades popped off the center post, and the center post is not connected to the servo anymore. i pushed that part that popped off back in and allenwrenched the blades off and spun it up and it spins, but the angle is all wrong now. what should i do? (I'm in OC, and can bring it back to show you, if you PM me where. I think you're in City of Industry, right?) Billy

RE: Xheli
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with XHeli or anyone affiliated with them in any way. I'm just a random customer. Summary: +1 for XHeli. Long Story: I just bought my first RC Heli. From XHeli. I read a lot of horror stories after placing my order, so I joined RCU... just in case. Story so far has been positive: I bought the Eagle 50 from XHeli during Black Friday, after getting my cousin a toy LamaV3 for $30 elsewhere. They shipped right away. I received within a couple of days. So shipping was great. What I bought: 1 Training Kit (basically 4 pingpong balls?) 1 Simulation Kit (basically a 4-channel controller and the shareware/freeware FMS on a disk) 1 Eagle 50 Kit (comes in a box) What I've noticed: the Eagle 50 box had a sticker seal that looked obviously tampered with, so I'm a little wary. Open it up, and the horizontal tail stabilizer was broken and twisted about 30 degrees from horizontal. looks like it ran into the controller that lies below it in the box. I quickly PM'ed Andy through RCU (the reason I joined in the first place) and he quickly (within 5 hours) responded by asking for the part number. Went home to check the flight manual and gave him the part number. The battery was already attached (via bands) to the heli, but i don't see any other signs that my heli was 'used'. no dents or scratches noticed yet, other than the broken stabilizer. So I pushed the battery out and charged it. When from 'blinking red' to 'green' within 30 minutes. yay. I'm assuming that without a stable horizontal stabilizer, i shouldn't throttle up at all, so I can't check motors and such yet. That's the story thus far, and I'm still in the 'happy camper' side of things. I'll update more once I get the tail stabilizer fixed. I'm reading RADD's flight school (and have printed it out) so I'm itching to 'do nothing but stay in a 1ft square box' for a couple of batteries. :) (This Eagle 50 was supposed to be for my cousin's birthday, but I figure I'd try it out first to see how 11yo friendly it is. I'm glad, since he's already trashed/crashed his $30 lamaV3 toy ... as expected. he's only 11 after all)
