RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Anyone try a DLE 20CC it her? Perfect size gas motor but wont be a real screamer. My field wont allow jets.

RE: Top Flite P-47D Thunderbolt ARF .60-.91: Building & Mods
I have the Eflite retracts and between my friend and I we have both had problem. He had two burn out and my cycled on their own. I was thinking of going mechanical. Id want all metal ones. Air seems to be heavy and a pain with leaks. Whats the most reliable system to go with? As far as struts how are the ones from skylite?

RE: Sundowner 50 Arf
Ive been a lipo guy and took this plane on trade with a 95os in it. I have a DLE20 that would be a good idea. I cant stand the cost of fuel and the mess of nitro. I just put a DLE30 in my 73" Sbach. Ill have to see how it will fit. My buddy has a DLE20 in his 70" Revolver and it flys awesome.

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Thats what we thought. We richen it up on both flights and it didnt help. The way we tuned it was to get it to around max rpm and then back it down 400rpm. Think I should prop it down to get the rpms up? With a 15x6 its only doing 8k.

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
We did shoot a video but all I have is 4 deadstick flights. After 1 or 2 min it stalled each time. This JBA 15cc is starting to worry me. My buddy is great with gas and his planes run great. Funny it runs fine on the ground tests.

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Well we redid the tank today and hope to fly it again tomorrow. With the 15x6prop its running about 8000. The transition is good but at full throttle it does fluctuate from 7800-8300. Its got a good idle and has power all the way though. Yesterday when it would stall in flight it would slowly start to loose power. We richened it up 2x and didnt matter and she still would dead stick. Then when we tested it on the ground it would run great. Each time it stalled in flight it was in level flight at full throttle.

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Think the tank is a 420cc. Now if the LS needle off why would that effect the high end? Seems like it runs great from 0-100%. Isnt LS needle just for 0-50%. We are gonna redo the tank line and start from scratch.

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Well my Top Flite P51 65in deadsticked 4x today. Weird since it runs great on the ground. During testing on ground we ran the plane inverted and straight up. During flight it stalls and full throttle about 2mins in. Tried it again on the ground and after 3min ran great. Any clues?

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
I was able to move one life pack a little further back and moved the ignition back as far as possible as well. Still nose heavy but Im not about to hack the plane apart or add weight. If you cut out behind the wing and put packs inside there it would probably balance. I should have a flight video on sunday along with more info on pull and rpm.

I have that prop on order and yes I agree I think Ill keep it nose heavy. It will be too much work trying to shift the weight back much further.

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
So far Im using a 15x6 running at 8200rpm. Its making 8.66 lbs of thrust but its far from being broken in. The motor dropped right in but its very nose heavy. We just tried to balance it and it would need about 7oz in tail to balance. Im going to try to move the life batts back. She weights 10.5 so I dont want to add any weight. When I get a chance Ill post a pic. I was able to mount the ignition on firewall but might be better further back to help cg. Exaust pisses out oil. I used permatex to seal it. Ugly but worked. She is running on my lawn as I type. They say 4hrs at 3500prm break in.

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Mine runs pretty good. With a 15x6 its running around 8200-8300rpm. It is rough around 1/2 stick. No problems at all letting it idle and then full throttle. Just needs to smooth out. I hope to fly it in my Top Flite P51 65in this weekend. Gonna run a few more tanks though it.

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
My first tank using a 15x6 prop and Im pulling 8.66lbs of thrust. I burnt up a fuel line so my testing ended. Even with the muffler sealed its still leaking oil at the joints. Seems the head sealed fine. Hope to run it again tomorrow. Anyboby else have an info?

Mine is pretty much ready to madien. Just have to cut the cowl. I went with the Eflite retracts and a 15cc JBA motor. Hope to get a pull test in a day or two. She weighs 10lb 5oz. Praying for a 1:1 thrust to weight ratio.

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
I doubt it would fit in the cowl too well at least the 30. The 20 will fit but needs a little work. My buddy put a 20DLE in his 70in Revolver and its insane. Before he installed it we dropped it in the P51 it will be tight but looks good.

Does anyone have pics of the Eflite retracts with the struts installed? Can you still fit the covers on? Im getting ready to mount my 15cc JBA motor. Hope it pulls with lots of power. Sucks nobody has a better exuast for it. I might try to mod the factory one so it fits under the cowl.

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
They need to comes out with a smaller pipe. That will stick out so far out of the cowl. My buddy bought over the new DLE 20cc rail mount and it has a pipe 1/2 the size probably fit with not too much work and weighs the same. I might run the P51 with no cowl til I have a better option. Any pics on the P51 with the cowl installed?

RE: Top Flite '.60 size' P-51D Mustang ARF: Building & Modifications
I finally unboxed her and started to iron it out. I have a JBA 15cc on order I didnt want to deal with nitro. I hope its a good setup. They claim 3.2hp. I also went with Eflite electric retracts. My buddy has them on a Top Flite P47. They work great but he needs struts to absorb the landings on grass. I plan on reinforcing the gear area. Anybody try these retracts with struts and use a 15cc gas?

I was planning on using an RCGF 15cc anybody try that? It fits in but the exaust might be a pain. Im looking towards gas due to longer flight times and fuel savings. Just need motor to start build.

RE: Sundowner 50 Arf
Did some radar runs today and with my .95 0s and a 12x8 prop spinning about 11,000 downwind hit 110. Id say its probably doing 95-100. a little bummed thought it would be faster. Think a 12x10 would make much difference?

I like my Revolver much better. It can knife edge and turns much tighter. I love the look of the Sundowner but its not what I expected. I hope the smaller prop wakes it up.
