RE: Magnum XL52 RFS Blue 4 Stroke
Yes I have one. A good engine for the price, read the manual that comes with it and break it in per the manual. Done that with mine and it runs great. The onlt difference I have noticed between the blue heads and the old style magnums is the valve cover really leaks bad! A wipe down is in order between flights! Happy flying![:)]

RE: Maiden my Escapade...
You did not mention if it is glow or electic, if it is glow, is it a new engine? If so is it broken in properly? This is another factor that should be considered, I fly glow, so if it is a new engine it gets broken in before going up, dont know your skill level but even when you have flown for years you can get a case of the nerves, so it is a good idea like previously mentioned to have someone stand next to you that is a proficient flyer to hand the transmitter to in case the shaking gets too bad! other than that, go out with a bucket load of confidence and fly that plane like its been in the air for years, good luck too! I have a .60 size escapade that needs to be put together also, new home for the .91 magnum f.s. I had sitting around. Let us know how it goes![:D]

RE: Spinner nut falls off
I geuss I am just lucky, never have used Loctite or a double nut, always just the single propnut. This is on two and four stroke a like, no issues in ten years of flying.

RE: can't give up old faithful (oil soaked wood)
A good tip I picked up here is to use a heat gun, works fantastic, pretty quick also, when applying heat the oil will bead up on the wood which then can be wiped off. Be patient, keep heating and wiping till its all out.[;)]

RE: Bad engine plane combos, learnt the hard way
The worst pairing I have assembled is a G.P. extra 300 .40 with an O.S. fp.60, no doubt about it! This plane needs to land under power, which made looking at your watch a must! you only have ten minutes, so you have to start setting up to land at around eight minutes, if you go a little long, it aint good, this thing is coming down, rigt now! Actually ended up hating this plane/ engine combo![:)]

RE: Throttle pushrod on Magnum 52 4stroke
ORIGINAL: scale only 4 me I typically make a double dog leg push rod to a Z-bend at the carb,, then use a good ez connector at the servo. Basically you come out the firewall, 90 degree bend, then another 90 bend to the carb connection,, all the adjustment is at the servo. that set up has worked well for me in several airplanes. If you really need a pic I can pull the cowl off my kingfisher, I need to redo the fuel lines anyway good luck
This is exactly what I do also. Have this method on a four star .40 and a super sportster, very reliable so far.[8D]

RE: where to put my battery pack? help
Definetly put the battery inside the plane! The battery in my extra 300 is in a similar location inside the plane in the compartment on top of the landing gear, pitts muffler close to it like yours. Never had a problem with it. [;)]

Apply a little pyscology to the situation, take the amount you have in the plane and divide it by the number of flights until loss.[:D] Made me feel a lot better after my beloved cub went in recently. It also helped that a great planes cub is on the building table about framed up.[8|]

I usually go in the morning, stay from 7 am to noon or one, depending on whos there, if anyone. In this time frame there will be 6-8 flights of 15 minutes each. There is always at least two or three planes that go to the field also, you never know whats going to happen! gotta have them spares![:)]

RE: USPS, Service with a smile. The Sequel
ORIGINAL: Taz_Hobbies
ORIGINAL: dbacque A few days ago I ordered some parts for my latest project. Today when I got home the familiar priority mail triangular tube was on the doorstep, but with a twist. Or actually with a bend. The box was crushed flat, folded in two, ripped open and taped closed with parts hanging out. Holy cow, I can't believe they even delivered it! The carbon pushrods were all exploded and several items were missing. I took it and ran down to the Post Office. After waiting in a very long line, when I showed it to the clerk he asked if it was fragile. Blank stare from me. He asked again if it was fragile, I said ''It's folded in two!''. He said, and this is the part I love, ''If it's not marked fragile it should be fine''!!!!! What freaking planet do these people come from? The vendor is shipping new parts out, I knew they would, but I had to take the mangled box in to see what they thought of it. I guess we now know what they think. If it's not marked fragile it should be fine. Dave
Deal with type of delivery service 3000+ times a month! USPS will end up putting me in the looney bin! We currently have 14 packages this month so far that have just vanished, they were scanned ''Out For Delivery'' which means they were on a truck going to a customers delivery address and never arrived, nor were they ever scanned again! I met with Fed Ex day before yesterday... My account is open and I am waiting on my printers & software!
Your not out of the woods with Fed Ex, last kit I recieved was delivered by Fed Ex and dropped off out side my door at an apartment complex while I was at work. I came home and found it all right, but anybody could have got it. I didnt think they were supposed to leave anything without a signature.

RE: Years of experience in R/C hobby including operating/flying & building
Dont know how I missed this thread the first time it rolled around, must have been that nasty thing called work![:D] This hobby started out as something for me and my youngest son to do together, that was about 10 years ago. I'm still at it, he is now in the air force living his own life.not much time for dad anymore.[:o] Anyway, I think this is the greatest hobby in the world, the people , flying, and building. I build most of everything I fly, turned 48 years young this year, going on 12! Love this hobby, hope to be doing it 50 years from now![:)]

WOW!! You have a lot on the ball for someone your age, I was doing my best just to get out of high school at 18! welcome to building, you came to the right place for a lot of good advice. My super sportster is the easiest plane to fly and land in the hanger, I'm sure you will enjoy both experiences, building and flying it. covered mine in a military theme, olive drab on top, white on the bottom. .52 magnum f.s for power.
