RE: Shock oil.......safety issue
Not to be contrarious, but the whole "everything causes cancer" attitude is a bit of a misnomer. Guess what, we live in a world where we are infact bombarded by carcinogens on a daily basis. Think this irrelevant?.... just compare cancer statistics from 20 years ago to today, and when you go back 50-60 years compared to today it's downright crazy. The attitude that exposing yourself or your children to chemicals is ok because heck...... they are exposed to chemicals anyway is insane. Industrial silicon is not something you want on your child's skin. It is a relatively small molecule which can easily be absorbed through the skin at which point it has to be processed by your body. This is not an easy task as silicon is extremely hardy and stable hence it's use as shock oil which means your body has a hard time breaking it down. Other than being toxic to your liver and kidneys it mimics harmful estrogens in the endocrine system which is arguably the biggest danger in a child. Furthermore, it contains other harmful things such as dioxin and industrial distillates. Sorry to rain on your parade but perhaps give mineral oil a try, a harmless alternative. Fun stuff I know

RE: Kyosho Inferno Neo st vs what?
Very interested in the Kyosho Inferno Neo st as well. Infact I have almost bought it several times but keep draggin my feet. I am wondering if any of you guys that posted on here could compare it to the OFNA Nexx 8t? Another newish rtr truggy in the same price range. As a guy who is never going to race, just mess around on dirt roads & such what would be a better buy, the ofna or the kyosho?

RE: Help a newb choose right glow plug
ORIGINAL: 1QwkSport2.5r Basically, you choose the glow plug for the amount of nitro in the fuel. If you're going to use 20% nitro or less, use a hot plug. These give the best idle but don't last quite as long. Use a medium plug for 25-30% nitro. These last a little longer but idle may suffer a little. Cold plugs for over 30%. These last the longest but the idle may suffer more yet. Don't pick a glow plug heat range based on air temp. Turbo plugs are only for engines with turbo heads and won't fit standard heads. [/quote Ah, ok that makes sense. Wasn't sure if different engines required diferrent temp plugs. Thanks for the reply it was very helpful!

RE: What Nitro RC (I'm sorry for ANOTHER one of these threads)?
To the OP; maybe give the Kyosho Inferno Neo st a look. Solid rtr for $400. Looks to be the cheaper version of their racing truggy kit which is highly respected in the rc world. I'm relatively a newb as you and have followed all the Truggy VS MT threads, and in my unbiased inexperienced e-opinion it seems as though the truggy is a little more well rounded platform than an MT. With that said seems you can't go wrong with the XXL. There are also several threads where people have "truggified" their lst xxl with smaller tires and lowering etc., so you always have that option if you need it to handle better. From what I have read, most would agree a truggy or the xxl is a superior vehicle to most of what traxxas has to offer. Let us know what you get!

RE: Searching for a ~$450 basher (truggy or MT)
Does anybody have an opinion on the Hot Bodies D8T kit ?This is this cheapest truggy kit I can find and wonder if building one of these up might be a better path than than the rtr kyosho? Again this would be for just messing around with not racing. Sorry for highjacking your thread 18y2 but it seems we're in the same boat.

RE: Searching for a ~$450 basher (truggy or MT)
ORIGINAL: HerrSavage Spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on toy trucks is not logical. It's about having fun. And that can mean something different for everybody. Is guy A more "logical" because he drives his truggy toy truck through a mud puddle as opposed to guy B, who wheelies through it with an MT?
Oh, I don't know, I would argue fun is infact logical, and so is spending money on such. Don't get me wrong, if my bank account allowed I would most definitely get multiples of both MT's and truggy's. My use of the word "logical" was specific to my own personal next rc purchase as I am understanding the differences between an MT vs a truggy. I think if I really enjoy the truggy my next rc would infact be an MT as I would certainly enjoy an MT as well. You will NEVER catch me dictating to people what fun is

RE: Searching for a ~$450 basher (truggy or MT)
What happened? Whasn't there another thread that had this covered? I was hoping for more vehicle specific information. Don't get me wrong the other truggy/mt thread was a hugely helpful read to a newb like myself. Thanks to all the useful information posted on both sides of the arguement. As a third party observer I would say the truggy argument seems the most logical. Thanks to guys like supertip (who are obviously passionate about the hobby) to take their time to lay out evidence based points not based entirely on opinion....very helpful. So unless someone has a better suggestion (for under $450) I think I will get the kyosho inferno neo st.

RE: Searching for a ~$450 basher (truggy or MT)
In the same boat as 18y2, and have all but setled on the kyosho neo st. Alot of people recommend the ofna value wise, and if I wanted a buggy it would no doubt be my first choice. I have spent a lot of e-time sizing up truggy's and from what I can find the ofna mutilator is relatively old/discontinued and a lot of places no longer carry it or am I missing something? You guys think it would be a better choice than a new release from kyosho?

RE: help me choose a nitro for $400
ORIGINAL: HerrSavage The RC8T is not discontinued. And you can't really put an SC body on a truggy. Completely different wheel and arm sizes - would look ridiculous.
Oops yeah, I saw on their site that the rtr rc8t was discontinued and figured the kit was as well. Not familiar with whats out there but would have to imagine that there is some combination of tires and sc body that would at least somewhat work on a truggy.

RE: help me choose a nitro for $400
Hey!...A big thanks for all the input guys.! A forum like this is invaluable for a guy like me that will research all options so that I may buy with confidence. Not set on a SC necessarily HerrSavage , leaning more truggy now and I could always get sc body for it (which I probably will) MT- I think if or when I ever got a MT it probably would be a 5th scale=MT. RE: help me choose a nitro for $400
ORIGINAL: SyCo_VeNoM About traxxas. Their nitros are not so good from what I read. Electrics are mostly fine, but they like to throw their Traxxas 3.3 engine in things that should have a big block engine. Other issues are the EZ-start(or whatever traxxas calls it) is just another part to brake, adds extra weight, and complicates things. Personally I'm against rotostarts, and automated

RE: help me choose a nitro for $400
Thanks for the advice guys I really appreciate it. The ofna is definitely high on my radar, not only because of the suggestions here, but in all my reading everybody has only had good things to say about it, but I would be concerned with the ground clearance as it would probably never see a track. Sooo, no love for traxxas eh? Aesthetically , and visually they look of good quality , and an inventive design to me, but I really know nothing about them. Can someone explain to me why the traxxas is a bad choice? It seems as though at least the slash has been a successful truck, no?

help me choose a nitro for $400
Hello, looking to buy my first nitro in over 15 years. While I really like the looks of sc trucks I would consider anything if it fits my criteria. I am looking for a truck to basically just mess around with. I want it to be fast, durable, have descent parts support, and FUN. As of now I am all but set on a traxxas slayer pro, or the revo and finding a sc body that will fit on it, but the ofna buggies look pretty sweet to. With that said I'm really clusless as to what's out there and what's good so I'm open to any advice. Thamks in advance to any help!

Wow!! Krisma that is an awesome site! Have you ordered from them before as I am leery to deal with a lesser known shop. After doing a lot of reading I think I decided on the blade MSRX and probably a dx6i to go along with it. What do you guys think???

RE: Best heli in the $200 range???
ORIGINAL: Doug47 I just helped a guy learn to hover and into rudimentary forward flight with a Helimax CP 400. It gets snubbed by many, but though I've got plenty of high dollar gear it wont get snubbed by me. It's performed very, very well, is rugged, and replacement parts are cheap and easily available. It can be had for 199 for a receiver ready version minus any other applicable discounts through Tower, and that's pretty darn reasonable. It's a lot better heli than an E-Flite SR is,and though the 120 is a great fun little heli if you used to fly collective pitch you'll get bored in a hurry. Now if you're just looking to hone your reflexes back don't dicard the little MCPx. It can fly in a light breeze, and if you've never flown one you will be flabbergasted at what that thing will do. If you can get a deal o one ,since they usually go for about 300 BNF,the new Blade 450 is one heck of a performer for the money. Good luck with whatever you get, Doug
Thanks for the input Doug, Looked into it and yes the Blade mCP X looks awesome for an indoor heli for sure. Can you recomend a site that sells them?

Best heli in the $200 range???
Hi all, looking to pick up a new electric Daft Gadgets Has A Plethora of RC Helis! heli. Have been out of the game for a while and am overwhelmed by how many of them are on the market now. Got my eye on the e-flite blade 120sr but am afraid I may get bored with it so am comparing it to an axe heli-max cp. Anyway, want something tough and cheap to maintain, fun, and relatively easy to fly but capable of challenging me as I sharpen my skills. Any input would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

What's more fun... Nitro or brushless?
Hi all, Havn't had an rc in a loooong time. I am really excited to get back into it and after much research am ready to pull the trigger on a lst xxl. However I am really intrigued by brushless. While I realize I could convert the xxl to brushless I am now almost on the fence if I should get something like the flux from the get go. So I don't want to start a brand debate here, but I would like to hear from people who own both.....what's more fun nitro or brushless?
