RE: Shelf life question re; Sealer
Should be OK . I have some twice that old . Just pore off the liquid & add some thinner to help get the solids back in suspension then add the liquid back in stir & use . No sweat ! Max H. [:D]

I use the color of the tissue (or silk) as the main color . Use any dope just for the trim . You can dye the silk-span ( or buy it colored) . Very few of the old builders color doped the whole plane . Have fun with your Playboy & good luck with it . Max H. [:)]

RE: Silkspan and dope Questions.
Check it in the morning & as long as it is smooth with no wrinkles give it a coat of dope thinned 50 -50. I think you will find it will tighten up . After a couple of coats add a few drops of castor oil to keep it from getting too tight . Silkspan is about as easy as silk to work with . Good luck ,MAX H. [:)]

RE: Solder issue.
You want to put solder on the cable back so it will be stiffer where it comes out of the plastic tube . Put a little flux on the cable & put it in the coupler & put your soldering iron on the coupler & heat it, add your solder where the cable go in ,you will see it flow in the coupler . It won't come out then . Good luck , MAX H. [:)]

I use a foam brush & don't thin it . Coat both the foam & wood & let dry .If going around a leading edge I lay the wood on a wet towel to soften the wood before bending. I think the smallest can you can buy is a quart but it really lasts . Good luck, MAX H.

There are 1/8"wire racks that use little caps that fit over the wires to stop scratching on furniture. I have bought them for years at ACE hardware . Just the thing . Have plugged engine pressure fittings with them & they don't blow off. Good luck ,MAX H.

If it is just dents try to get most of them out first. Lay a real wet rag or paper towel on them for a hour or so & then take your covering iron on high & iron over the wood . Most will come out . If you need to fill them I use the balsa colored Model Magic . Good Luck , MAX H. [:)]

RE: Hiding Balsa Structure Under Solartex
You can dye it yellow with Rit dye mixed with either water or alcohol. I used to do this years ago with some old timers I built . The water didn't effect the glue joints . Did a 84" Powerhouse with black dye & covered it with transparent red Monocoat . Different looking but wear old clothes as some color will rib off. Max H. [:)]

I built several static display models for a chemical supplier in Nebraska a few years back & used Super Coverite or Balsa USA fabric ,ironed it down & then used a brown marking pen on it followed up after it dryed good with clear dope or a polycoating. Looked pretty good . MAX H. [:D]

I think if you look real close you will see that it is a GHQ.It was well known for not running well if at all. A .519 cu. in. displacement. If in real good condition W/ no parts missing tha price would be over a $100.00. One of the few engines that run clockwise. Have fun , MAX H. [:)]

First off wait for it to quit raining ! You may have a "Pusher prop" possible ? The OS needle valve settings are just to get the engine started & need to be adjusted after it is running . Read the engine directions . Go back to the flying field & you will find some help .The engine will need to be run some to break it in .Good luck, MAX H.

A mixture of 1 parts 70 weight motor oil to 3 parts Colman fuel . You also need a coil ,condencer ,battery box & a old modeler to help you .Don't try to run it on glow fuel with a glow plug . Won't take it . MAX H.
