doc if i wire 3 X 12volt 7amp to get 12 volt 21 amps, it's the amps that give you the drive time? what will all the amps do the the esc or is this not a problem? or like you said a bigger fuel tank and no problem

RE: Drive motor and gearbox for the Robbe Happy Hunter
knight mine havent hit the water yet but i will be using two mtroniks viper 25's or 40's there pircey but i was told there the best esc's for boats. unless your looking for raw brute power i would leave the direct drive set up alone here is a pic of one of the guys from the u.k. pulling at least a 750 pound boat my understanding is that car esc's are not good for slow speed work that a tug dose nobody ever putts around with car they hit the gas and go full throttle. a tug will spend most of its time at a slow crawl or 1/3 throttle

RE: Drive motor and gearbox for the Robbe Happy Hunter
knight i have two happy hunters, both in the drydock right now but as i understand the robbe set up is the way to go. i think your problem might be the speed control! are you useing one esc for both motors? these 755/40 are slow spinning motors ive seen a hunter spin its prop so slow you could keep track of one prop blade

i'm not a pro but the only detail lacking boats i know of are the bb battle boats they try to sink each other. there boats are built out of balsa. UMI who post on here knows more about these boats as she builds and fights them. most all other boats are built with full detail and what not

RE: Does anybody know where to buy?
here is the e-mail from scale-speed on the tai koo from you tube Dear Mr. Mark, Thanks for your appreciate for our model boats! Glad to answer your enquiry! All of our models are built by handicraft. The FRP models supplied by us are fine scale R/C ready to run boats. Maybe you have noticed that either their aspect details or their sailing performance are obviously superior to other ready to run boats. Our models could include the motors, the speed controller, the servo, the three channels FM R/C transmitter and receiver ( The agonistic type is used for airplane model aerobatics 3- channels FM type. ), even the rechargeable NiMH battery packs, and the instruction CD. Further more, for make sure the sailing performance of our products, our ready to run boats are passed seriously operational check. So either their aspect details or their sailing performance are as same as the pictures and video clips on our web site. The Tai Koo tugboat you mentioned is a popular type, also her building course is heavy and complicated. There are two different driving systerms for you to choice. One, the two directly driving propellers and propeller shafts. Another, the two Z-drives. The two different driving systerms decides how excellent the maneuverability of Tai Koo is. Also in the handcrafts building process, the difficulty degree of the two different driving systerms are totally different. As a result, the tug with the two Z-drives is more expensive than the tug with directly driving propellers and propeller shafts. Would you please tell me which kind of driving systerm is expected to build on your Tai Koo? We would be glad to estimate freight charge to your home, if you would tell us your address and postcode- this information is needed by DHL. Best wishes, Yours sincerely, Simon Tang 2007-11-29
