avalanche driveshafts
hey guys forgive me, driveshafts are called "dogbones" right? here's the deal, had my first wreck today. i started my avalanche up and it took off on me, got about 12-15 ft. away before some bricks stopped it for me. everything looks good, my steering servo is toast and my dogbones are bent. i see on redcat's site they have 96mm and 117 mm. when i hold both of my dogbones up together, they appear to be the same length. can someone point me in the direction to what i need on redcat's site?

RE: avalanche seals
oh no no, i got the muffler/header seal to fit right. i was saying that that particular muffler and header setup was what i couldn't get on the truck.

RE: avalanche seals
okay here is the deal. i decided to try my stock header and exhaust with the new seals, those OFNA 10068 ones. fits like a glove. i bought the tuned pipe redcat sells on their site for the avalanche. it looks nothing like the one in the picture. it looks like the stock pipe just with the spring joint instead of the rubber coupler. that is the one i cannot get to fit on the truck. i guess i'm back to square one using my stock pipe. i guess i'm in the market for a better AFFORDABLE pipe.

RE: avalanche seals
i've even considered grinding the opening of the header open a little more. sureley there's a better way. i can't believe how hard this is. my hands are all scratched up and hurt because there isn't a good way to hold the engine (even when out of the truck) to get good leverage to push the header on. what does everyone else do for the hurricanes and monsoons when they change the header out?

avalanche seals
hey guys, will these seals fit my avalanche? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPEC8&P=7 i'm having trouble finding some new ones that fit. i can't seem to get the header to fit over the seal on the engine. i end up tearing them up. when i do get the header on, it's pulled so much of the seal down that it isn't sealed anymore. anybody have any tips on getting these things to fit? i found a pair of these http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXNUL8 from the LHS no go, they're still too thick. any help?

RE: exhaust seals
ahhh, that was my next question. how do you get the stupid pipe to fit over the new seal? i'm tearing these things up! i bought some new ones today and they are on their way out! maybe some grease or vaseline or something? do you have a link to some thin ones Clermont? maybe you even carry the ones i need, i'll gladly buy, my avalanche has sat for weeks now waiting on parts.

RE: bearings in an hpi bell
SUCCESSS!!! I got my bag of HPI 5x10x.5 spacers (washers) today. I added a total of three to the clutch bell and placed them in various places between the bearings. Now i have the bell sitting PERFECT! I took it out to try it and WOW! I can really tell a difference! I mean it's probably a combo of the header, pipe, motor saver filter, clutch spring, bell and pinion gears, but man this thing moves now! I have RCU to thank for me learning all this stuff. Now if they could just get some good stuff out for the avalanche...

okay that's a no for the Home Depot, i got some that are small enough but the hole in the middle is too small to fit over the shaft. i'm losing my patience, i drove an hour to another Hobbytown to get my new bearings and I still can't run because nothing is fitting right!!!![:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

RE: bearings in an hpi bell
no wobble at all, just front to back, lemme try moving the washer... wait a minute, the only washer i have can only go one place, it isn't big enough to fit over the black shaft that goes thru the bearings. and here i thought i'd have this buggy out tonight [&o] i guess i need to get some washers that'll fit over the shaft.

i put the washers in the way they came out of the old one. all i had was a washer and a lock washer on the end where the screw is. that same set up works fine if i put the old bell back on.

bearings in an hpi bell
okay, i got the hpi clutch bell and the two pinion gears for my tornado. when i put the 2 bearings in the new bell i can't get it all tightened down. the bell will slide back and forth a little. did i miss something here? i put the bearings in the new bell just like they came out of the old bell, one in the top, one in the bottom.
