these oil war forums are pure bs, it is always my brand is best, your brand is junk.just use what you want and be done with it, if it works for you fine. it is a 50/50 argument, always was and always will be. if you are new to gas, call the manufacture and ask what he suggests. 32-1 and you won't go wrong, regardless of what brand r/c engine you are using. whenever a motor is fried there are to many unknown variables we never hear about, and it is always blamed on the oil.[X(]

How am I meant to take a review seriously if the product being reviewed is not absolutely positively brand spanking new, especially a battery. Also the test was done with a 30A bulb discharger, fine if you're testing NiMH or NiCd batteries but not for the latest in LiPo technology designed for todays brushless systems. RE: Are all RC forum's activity in decline?
My biggest problem with this forum and most others is the attitude of some, they are what I call trolls, a person asks a reasonable question and here they come, attitude trolls. And you know who you are because I see it. Same ones over and over #1 complaining about spelling and grammar. hell this is a hobby forum not an English class #2 my stuff is better than yours. who cares I just want some info!!! #3 I am right, I know everything and it must be done my way or you will fail. sorry I don’t know you so stop pounding your chest #4 running certain r/c mfg’s down if someone states he bought such and such items from who ever. Did it ever occur to you that maybe you’re the problem and not the mfg #5 busting someones chops because he ask’s a repeated question and or did not do a proper search. Don’t worry about it maybe someone does want to take the time to help, why should it bother you # 6 a person asks a question and within 4 or 5 replies it goes’ off topic or we have a computer brawl because someone offended another. Stay on topic, if you want to have a brawl take it else where. in my opinion these are some of the problem with all forums

most of this is b.s. about these lipo monsters. been around them from day 1 since the came out for r/c use. never had any of these so called issues. i have even tried to recreate these so called problems from old or damaged cells. no fires, no explosions!!!, just smoke, puff and vent!!! for these so called monsters to come alive there has to be absolute abuse or lack of know how. most likely both. and after all this info out there about the safety on use, we still have those people who charge and walk away from the charging process and wonder why???. if you would just research and read!!( and there is plenty to go around on all the forums) you would have to be a complete idiot to walk away while operating a charger. spend a little extra money for some monitoring and testing equipment and observe what is going on and you will be just fine whith any "monster battery".

RE: HobbyKing - Good or Bad
[quote]ORIGINAL: byrne1157 Thank you for the welcome,Maritza! Well, I must say, we all have our opinions, and they are just that. Opinions, I've been taught, are neither right, nor wrong, just someone's belief based on either thought, or experience. Now down to facts. I will repeat myself so that you will understand what I am basing my OPINION on. My experience has shown me that if I had said I would use a futaba radio in a jet, nobody would have a problem with that. I said in my earlier post that I own a Futaba 6ex. So I guess, Maritza you might say that I have used ''proper equipment''. I trained using my friends Hitec radio. My Turnigy has an excellent ''high quality'' feel to it. The gimbals are smooth and tight. The programming is easy, and has all the mixes I need to fly any aircraft. It also can be programmed for Helis. The range checks I have done show me that the system is good for AT LEAST 1.500 METERS. I have NEVER experienced a loss of control. That cannot be claimed by *pektrum. It is NOT a cheap little toy store radio. Have you ever used one? Sounds like you haven't. In 5years, or maybe 10, maybe you guys will accept it. These are made (figuratively) just up the road a little way from where yours are. If you want to find out, spend the price, and test one. You might be surprised. gentlemen please, why do we continue to beat this dead horse? i see it over and over, with a little search on r/c forums before you buy from any vendor you can find out if there is!! a potential problem and then decide!! if i have never had dealings with a vendor that is what i do. ask questions, there is more than enough pros and cons info on this vendor and others to go around. i would like to see a true scientific survey comparing the % of unsatisfied customers to the satisfied ones. until that time it is just a he said she said. there is always 2 sides to every story. do your homework it will be worth your while. as for me in all the times i have ordered r/c parts i have never had a problem from any vendor including hobby king. am i just lucky, i don't think so,do the homework-. one more thing, opinions are like ******** everyone has one so take everything with a grain of salt

t.o.m 100% right on, to many people have no clue how to even tune a good engine/carb set up let alone take one apart!!! first thing they want to do is grab a hammer a screwdriver and start ripping, on top of a cluttered work bench, never taking the time to see and noteing how it came apart. in reality most probably could not take a fountain pen apart and reassemble it. then go on a forum and complain about how a product is no good or not up to expectations [:@]

RE: they can have my 72mhz radio when they pry it from my cold dead hands !
2.4 technology is here to stay that is a fact,it has vastly improved r/c in all ways. for people getting into the hobby it is the way to go for sure. but here is where i have to differ.for 30yrs i have been hearing whenever a new tech. comes down the pike we are to immediately trash it and throw it away because it is out dated and unsafe. good for the mfg's!!!! no matter where you read whether it is magazines, talk forums, clubhouses, or flyers them selfs, seem to enjoy telling people how wonderful the 2.4 is while bashing the 27mhz system such as (antiquated, unsafe, not hip, junk, model destroyers, etc,etc.etc.) i would like to ask all this question, if the 72mhz system is so unsafe and unpredictable how is it we made it this far over many many years without all our airplanes falling from the sky????. now i start to hear we should ban it!!!! HOLY H*** do you people realize what you are suggesting.what is next? ANOLOG SERVOS, BRUSHED MOTORS! i would love to hear this if BIG DADDY GOV. was saying this, we all would be up in arms. i am hearing and have seen this happen where people are quitting and trying to sell because THE ELITE 2.4 is telling them its unsafe no good, now they dont have the money to "upgrade" and feel ashamed to go to the field. it took a long time, and $$$$$ for some of these flyers to acquire this equipment.excuse me but i thought this was a hobby to relax with and have fun with, not to bash flyers for not having the latest equipment, what has it turned into a fashion and hip scene!!!!. we cant all drive ROLLS ROYCES but we share the road with them. in 30yrs i have only lost 1 plane to interference and that was more my fault (stupidity) for not acting sooner.a friend 25 yrs and 0 planes lost.now he has decided to give it up because he is tired of being ridiculed and does not have the $$$$$ to upgrade.the clubs and the ama cry about declining members and the so called renegade over the hill/park flyers.but i keep hearing we are to "promote" the hobby. i guess we are all getting lazy,if there are some 27mhz who would like to fly at a large event why can't they be accomodated with rx impound and pins??, been doing it for how many years and seemed to work(and yes i have been there and done that) it is their game, ball, and bat they can do what they want.but when it comes to the local clubs i think it is a big mistake. in all the years i have never had a problem with pins, but then maybe it is in some areas. i have 10 planes from foamies, gliders, sport, and 1/4 scale, do i have 27mhz? yes, do i plan to continue using? yes, do i have 2.4? yes. can the 27mhz have interference? of course, can it be eliminated? no, can it be controlled? to some degree, nothing is 100%. but for me 30 yrs 1 plane thats pretty good odds.not enough to make me go total 2.4. i have seen planes lost on 2.4, also,is it pilot era or electronics??????????. my opinion on most 27mhz interference problems is lack of knowledge, research, understanding, and stupidity!! 10 yrs. ago had a friend fying a $10 grand imac on 27mhz and not nervous at all, now we want to throw them (27mhz) away. go figure, i think it is more a must have than a necessity!!! or is it maybe "brainwashing"

small e-glider
hi, just wondering if any of you e-glider buffs have built and powered a skybench mini li'l bird 2 e glider. i am looking for some ideas on a good power system for it, (motor-batt-prop) or any other sugestions you might have. i have started to build it but i do not know what flying weight ill end up with (it is advertised at 7 oz less battery) i was thinking about a brushless outrunner, 3s lipo, and folding prop. i have built an skybench oly 2 with an electric system, and spoilers. it is one of my favorites for a relaxing summer evening of flying. just wanted to try this kit as to build something smaller for up close/park flying. thanks for you time.

[quote]ORIGINAL: meef rustler You will hear negative things about everything. Everyone is different, people need different and use different. Someone could be a complete boob and buy a Maxamps and let's say they trickle charge it and destroy their battery then they go online and say Maxamps suck. You never know the full details of complaints, the person who said they used their venoms for 3 months and they died. Who says they didn't fit like 500cycles in or they over discharged or the esc drew more amps than the battery can supply. A few will be truly defects. The world can't be perfect neither can all batteries. ONBOARD IGNITION BATTERY
HELLO i have a onboard ignition, single plug system, that requires A 1.2 volt 1700mah (minimum) battery to run the glow plug.the charger that comes with it has a 3 volt dc 300 mA out put. i would like to use the largest mAH battery i can! to give me a reasonable amount of time before recharge. it will be set to go on and off with the throttle. my question is how big of an mAH battery can i go with using this charger?, to charge the battery to its fullest within a reasonable time frame (12-13 hrs.) should i use aa, sub c, or c cells in a single or pack setup,( i was leaning towards using the largest mAH single c cell i can) i would like to keep weight to a minimum and no need to over kill. would appreciate any suggestions

s 61 k abc rebuild
i have a supertiger s 61 k abc engine i bought around 14 yrs ago. i have been using it all those yrs. hard, without a glitch, ran terrific, the older it got the better it ran. about a year ago i noticed it was making stange noises like a bearing going bad. i tore it down and found that the rear bearing was going out. just a lot of play everything else looked fine, so i decided to just replace front and rear bearings. at the time i could not find original supertiger bearings but found some rossi bearings that were the same specs. i put it back together and it ran great. second day of flying it started it all over again. tore it down and the rear bearing was shedding pieces of the ball bearings, one actually broke in half and pieces scored piston and liner. at this point i was going to just retire it figuring it would probabaly be cheaper to buy a new engine. but i came across a new original piston and liner and bearing set and decided to try it again.(good winter project by the fire). my question is what might have been the reason for the second bearing failure if it was some thing i did wrong i don't want to make the same mistake over. maybe it was just a bad bearing or was not designed for that application. even though it was stated to be used in an r/c engine. appreciate any suggestions

trim lever question
hi, i have a futaba 7cap set up for airplane functions (ppm) the radio is around 2 yrs. old and have never had a problem with it. i have 9 models programmed into it,just recently i was programming # 10 and noticed that when i tried to change the trim with the aileron trim lever it would not move to the right unless i held it for 15-20 sec. then it would move. when i move it to the left it would function like it should, instantly. all the other trim levers work fine. it also does not matter what model # i am on it does the same thing.i am guessing that maybe it is that switch or is it more complicated and in the computer brain itself. i have been reading the manual thinking i might be missing something, hate to send it in for repair for something stupid on my part. i was also wondering if it goes in for repairs do i end up losing all the diff. model memorys? what a bummer!! sure hope not.

question on futaba servos
on a few of my planes, i have some with long servo leads, 18-24". for the past few flying season now i have noticed that when i get them out say, after a few months idle and start checking them out for the new season i have had some servos not work properly. worked fine when put away. at first i thought it was just one of those things and replaced them. but by coincedence i am finding out that when this happens if i unplug and replug the ends of each a few times everything is fine. and never had a problem in the flying season, but when put away waiting for summer season it seems to happen. they are kept in a nice warm and clean enviroment. really no big deal but just wondering what might be happening. all connections seem very snug. i guess ill have to start soldering them but really did not want too.maybe some sort of spray?? anybody else have this happen or got any ideas? thanks

HI FOLKS, ABOUT TWO YRS. AGO I AQUIRED A TELEMASTER SENIOR,9 FT.WINGSPAN ONE PIECE WING.IT WAS WELL USED AND ABUSED. I STRIPPED IT DOWN PATCHED AND REPAIRED IT. MADE IT A BOLT ON WING INSTEAD OF RUBBER BANDS COVERED IT WITH ULTRACOTE ORANGE/BLUE COVERING. ADDED A ZENOAH 20 EI ENGINE, WITH A C-H IGNITION. IT TUNED OUT TERRIFIC AND FLIES GREAT. I USE IT FOR JUST LUMMBERING AROUND THE SKIES ON A LAZY SUMMER DAY WHILE RESTING ON A LAWN CHAIR OR TOWING UP A FEW GLIDERS. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT-9 FT.-ONE PIECE-WING!!!!!!! IT HAS TO GO!!!!! I DECIDED TO RE-DO THE WING AND MAKE IT A TWO PIECE TAKE DOWN WING. RIGHT NOW IT HAS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF DIHEDRIAL BUILT IN TO THE WING. MY QUESTION IS HOW MUCH DIHEDRIAL CAN I TAKE OUT OF THIS WING. CAN I REMOVE IT ALL AND MAKE IT AS FLAT AS A TABLE TOP OR DO I NEED SOME AND APPROX. HOW MUCH?. WILL THE FLYING CHARACTERISTICS CHANGE DRAMATICALLY? WANT TO TAKE OUT AS MUCH AS I CAN, USING -AILERONSRUDDERELEVATOR. THANK YOU FOR ANY INPUT ON THE AMOUNT OF DIHEDRIAL OR THE CONVERSION OF THE WING
