RE: .........
Hi Petey, Glad to hear that. Just make sure that you Lock-tight EVERYTHING! they come put together but you will have to unscrew all the frame screws and lock-tight them. Once you get it all set up you will find it VERY stable in the air. I've flown mine in 14 mph winds with no problems. Also...if you haven't got one on your Belt cp that you can swap over, get yourself an Align tail rotor as soon as you can. They are the best for the job. The EXI tail rotors are cheap and break after a while.

Hey Aircrash...where did you get a 450 clone from for $9? I've been looking for a cheap one.

RE: .........
Hi Guys! Hope everyone has been O.K. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. I've been flying the EXI 450 for some time now and love it. (not to knock the Belt Cp) it's still a good bird. But you wouldn't have to do any mods on it and it is a very nice stable flying heli. Most of the Belt Cp parts will transfer right over to it, and for $70 u.s. you can have the whole thing. The only thing I didn't like was the tail rotor, so I changed it to an Align. I just hate the thought of you spending money then having to cut up a carbon frame so that you can get direct link to the servo, when the EXI offers that. Here is the link. http://www.xheli.com/18h18-exi450pro-belt.html P.S. I know in the past that EXI has gotten a bad rap for their service, but I have been doing business with them for about a year now and they really have gotten their stuff together. I even returned a part recently and had the amount back on my credit card within a week. Anyways I hope this helps.

Can someone tell me where to find main grip linkage rods that are adjustable for a 250? My LHS doesn't have them and I have been unable to locate them online. Thanks.

Trimming an EXI 250
Anyone know how to do this? I just finished rebuilding a used EXI 250. I noticed that the grip links were solid and can't find anything about trimming the main rotor blades, and of course they are out. Thanks, BD.

RE: .........
ORIGINAL: aircrash Hmm, if the short made the cell`s lead to break then waste this battery. So do you get a reading through the charging plug? If not then definitely one or more leads have broken. If yes then apply a low load to the charging plug, connect a bulb or something to the cables that are in the edges (so do not use the middle ones) and make the battery get discharged. Then you can try removing the cover and see what`s going on. But if it is charged then just throw it in a safe place (in a bucket full of saltwater for some days). Well, there are a lot cheap batteries out there. Such as here that has some good batteries at a nice price. Or you could try one of those. And if you do then please post about, I would be interested.
Thanks Aircrash, I've decided to toss it in salt water. I don't like fooling around with these batteries after all LOL! I have been using these batteries and after about 1 year they start to puff a little after a 5 min flight. http://www.valuehobby.com/power-systems/lipo-batteries/3s-lipo/gforce-25c-2200mah-3s-11-1v-lipo.html Then I read about these batteries http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17814__ZIPPY_Flightmax_2200mAh_3S1P_25C_X_Thin_USA_Warehouse_.html and have just started using them. The bad thing about these is you have to resolder your Deans connector arter removing the plug they come with which is what started the whole problem with the short. Anyway, I have 3 new batteries and 2 that will be ready for the saltwater bath soon so I think I'm good for now. Once I start trying 3d flight then I will consider buying some expensive batteries. B.

Ehh, I tossed it. I've decided that Lipos are too scary for me. It's in a bucket of salt water now. Anyone know how long to leave it in, and what to do with it next? I've seen stuff on you tube where some ppl say that putting them in a bucket of salt water really doesn't work. Thanks, B.

O.K. so the other day after having had too much coffee I tried to replace the plug on one of my new MaxAmps.com for all your LiPo, NiMh and NiCd RC Battery Needs. Click here now. batteries (a 3 cell lipo for my 450 heli) with a Deans plug. This was a bad idea because I couldn't hold still and ended up shorting out the MaxAmps.com for all your LiPo, NiMh and NiCd RC Battery Needs. Click here now. battery. I think what happened was that the short caused the copper connection on the top of the battery board to break the connection which is why the battery will not work now. I believe that the cells are fine. Has anyone out there ever tried to replace this board? I was thinking about trying it but I'm thinking I should leave well enough alone. Thanks in advance, B.

I'm with Philly on that one. Also I think it would be pretty difficult to drill through those shafts and get it straight. Are you using a Trex clone main rotor on your belt cp? I was buying the Trex main shafts and turning them upside down to make them work with my belt. I also had to grind a small spot on the shaft for the grub screw to fit flush on. B.

RE: .........
So after several trial and errors, I have decided that my clone flies best with a 10 tooth gear. The 11 and 12 had the motor spinning too fast with the 3800 kv motor and I could not get my gyro to behave right. The 10 seems to give me the smoothest and best head speed. Also something strange, I was getting an odd vibration in the tail and couldn't figure it out. I spent several days going through the head to the tail with no luck. Changing main shaft, making sure the tail shaft was true. Then tonight while starting to give up on it something snapped into place and all of a sudden no bad vibration, and it's flying better than it has since I went into the deck in the back yard. Anyways, I'll keep an eye on everything and if it comes back I guess I'll disassemble the thing from top to bottom and replace the drive belt and start all over. I hope you guys have a good holiday. B.

Sooooo...Hows everyone doing? I finally got my new ESC yesterday. Everything is hooked up and flying O.K. I have some tail adjustments to work out and all, but other than that I'm good. I also have to replace 2 older batteries cause they are starting t puff a little after a flight. My computer got a worm virus 3 days ago and I am rebuilding my system, so I haven't been able to get on the sim for a while.
ORIGINAL: phillyD Yep Bro The 10 degrees will be good enough. Just make sure you throttle is set 85% and above. For you and Biker try and keep the pitch curve identical above mid stick. If you check back in this thread(searching Servo failure/esky servos) you will see I had some bad experiences. Maybe it might have been rectified...but I would keep hitting the sim till I get my servos
ORIGINAL: aircrash You`re welcome Bryan. My ebay Trex -clone- 450V2 metal head has arrived. From a first look it seems a good one but I have not dismantled it so to see if it uses bearings to every link. Once I see it`s a worthy one I may buy another one as it seems it is cheap enough to have in hands two of them. I should had bought a head - tail combo though. As the tail would be used to a 450 clone or after modding the belt pulley even on the Belt-CP, if I could manage to do a pulley modding. I guess I went (too) cheap. Next time I`ll buy a combo.
You shouldbe very happy with the new rotor head. I have had my clone head for about 6 months or so and I have not had any problems with it. Each time I crash it never breaks and all I have to do is retune it and all is good. I am however using the Trex sport tail assembly on my EXI Trex clone. The other ones I had tried (but not the Copterx one which is supposed to be very good) kept flying apart on me. The more I stay in this hobby, the more I learn that it is good to have good componants on the heli. Now I have to wait for my new ESC to arrive so I can get back in the air. I am so addicted to this hobby it is crazy! B.
ORIGINAL: Markus8 ok but check out the tail servo so the gyro and the receiver works fine with each other. Hey Dis...I burnt out my 30 amp esc today. It has been getting hot pretty much since the day I bought it. I'm thinking I need to go to a 40amp now. what would you recommend? I am running a 3800 kv motor with 2.2mah batteries and a 12 tooth pinion (at least I was today before the 1 little plastic gear inside of my new metal gear servo decided to strip). I thought maybe the 12 tooth gear may have caused the esc to over heat and burn out, but I don't know if that would have effected it? I think I was the cause of stripping the gear though. I jammed the throttle full on a few times trying to get the heli to zoom up, but now I'm guessing thats a bad idea. Anyway...thanks for your help, and if anyone else wants to jump in please do. Bryan
