RE: New club
Just email the folks at the AMA, they will give you a rundown on the setup, officers, club rules, etc. Good luck!

RE: Is it just me
I don't know why, buy I usually have a problem if I try to get in before 6 AM. I can get to anything but the forums. No problems cruising the ads, etc. but will time out trying to view any forum. After 6 or so, no problems...

All the above is good advise, I believe. I do think that building another Tiger would be great help, too. Good luck to you.

RE: Got my wind wings today
It's a great day, when you bring them back in as many pieces as they came in, isn't it? Congrats, and good success in the future. One day in the future, you will learn the limits, but that creates experience. A good friend of mine crashed today, but not a major one. Sometimes the wind does weird things, he got caught, but about 2 - 3 hours of work, and he will be fine. [;)]

RE: Vmar Apache II HELP
Why not refurbish it? A little glue, a small amount of wood to reinforce things, and some new covering, must be cheaper than a whole new plane?

RE: mowing your field
I run my own field, so I mow it myself. I use a JD GX345 Garden tractor, which has enough weight to pull a 900 lb. roller, which it does about every other time I mow. This keeps the runway fairly smooth at the same time. I have pictures of the field in my profile. I converted the field from pasture, which was a real chore, along with some dozer work. In the spring, when it is wetter, I use a lawn

RE:
If you could give more details about the plane itself, manufacturer, size, someone could probably help. Need to figure out what it is held together with. If it is CA, then soaking it carefully in debonder would allow the joints to come apart. Getting too generous with the debonder will cause more than the joints you want to come apart to come apart. Be careful. [8D]

RE: Why I think a smaller plane is better.
It really sounds like your control throws are just set too conservatively. Not enough throw can seem like the plane takes the whole sky to turn in. Or too nose heavy, can make you run out of elevator on an otherwise nice approach. I love shooting touch and goes with my 60 size planes. If you do make changes, change only one thing at a time, elevator, center of gravity, etc, as too many things changing at once can be confusing and intimidating. I also use a lower pitched prop, for the best pull from a slow maneuver that I can handle, except on my Astro Hog, which flies better on a higher pitch prop. With that Saito 100 on it, you should have totally unlimited vertical, and should be able to perform some extremely awesome large loops. If anything were to be intimidating about it, it would be the fact it is quite overpowered, and that feeling is and can be intimidating.[:D]

Orangehat just put up an Escapade with a 46AX and is using an 11x5 or an 11x6 Apc prop, and can take off at 1/4 throttle, unlimited vertical, and it still lands nicely. PM him, and he can tell you more about his.

RE: Down but not out...
The hardest part about a repair of any kind is just getting started. Glad you took the initiative to do it, and the persistance to get it done. I think fixing it helps to understand the crash better, and makes you mentally think of how to avoid it and how be more careful. It also makes you less afraid to take on repairs, or make adjustments to make your flights better! Keep up the good work![;)]

RE: 2nd plane: Giant Telemaster or a Super Flyin' King
You simply can't do any better than a kit from Bruce Tharpe. The fit and finish of the components, and the wood selected for each part is hand picked. I hold nothing against the Telemaster, but if the question is about the build, the Super Flyin King would take my money. Especially for a camera or heavy lift platform. Good luck! Sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun with it either way.

RE: Slightly different beginner plane?
The LP in LP5 is the Low Power version. It works well, but the range is limited. I believe it is 200 or 300 feet, maximum range.

RE: Another Next Plane question.
I would echo what NorfolkSouthern says, and just figure out a way to add some contrasting color to the wings and tail to make it easier to see. I just use the "Dark on the bottom, Light on the top" kind of color pattern. It works for me. Heavy stripe on the bottom would seem to work also. The 4 star is an excellent flying plane. The only thing I would lose is the expensive 30% fuel and go to 10 or 15. I use that in all my 4 strokes, Saitos and Magnums, and all my 2 strokes. I have the 100 in my Top Flite P-47, and it flies beautifully. Your 4 star should have unlimited vertical.

RE: Another prop safety tip
Exactly my point. The prop was double nutted, didn't matter that I used a 12 in. crescent wrench to tighten them with, either. If you look at the video right about 26 seconds, you can step through the prop nut and lock nut coming off, and the prop striking the ground and flying off to the left. It went about 30 feet.

Another prop safety tip
This is why you don't stand over or in front of a prop while testing.. this was on my Thunderbolt after some maintenance, and the high speed needle got misadjusted. Found the prop nut eventually, about 100 feet to the front, and just about 10 feet to the left. It was the weighted Higley spinner nut. I had just commented to the cameraman that you didn't want to be too close.. http://www.rcuvideos.com/video/Prop-spin-off-MPG

RE: Are we blogging?
I have run across a number of blogs, some are written in style as if the writer were a newspaper reporter, and some, well, there are some very lonely people.. A blog could be many things, the best one to me are the diary style ones. I have one that outlined a trip I took a long time time ago. Remember when gas was less than $1 a gallon? I went coast to coast for less than $100, including hotels and meals..[:D]

RE: Radio problems with mustang PTS...
I had a servo extension lead cause a loss of control, it was intermittent. Tough to find, but I wouldn't fly the plane till I found the cause after nearly crashing 2 x. I found one of the 3 pins would back out just a tiny bit when I plugged in the wing servo. I also had a RX on/off switch that was flakey, the plane went in on a final approach, full up elevator, full throttle, full right rudder, but it crashed into tall weeds, caused no damage whatsoever. It took a while to find that one, too. While you are waiting for any other answers, jiggle and wiggle every switch and connector a lot. [8D] Good luck!

RE: Saito .82 Quits when idle
If I read what you are writing correctly , "I have set the low end needle back to factory settings, nearly flush with the throttle arm, then moved out a quarter turn at a time. I have gotten to at least 4-5 full turns out and no luck." you are making your idle jet richer, you need to turn it in to make it leaner. RO347 probably said it best regarding how to quickly get the idle jet to close to correct. Re-read his post to get the whole thing..[8D] "leaning 1/4 turn at a time until it wont start. Once youve reach the point where the engine wont start.... richen the low end 1/2-3/4 turn. This should put you very close to where you need to be. Tweak low a little...Set the high, then finalize low."
