RE: OS 1.20AX Unexplained Flameouts.......>>>
Had trouble getting a O.S. 55 nitro to run, had a pitts muffler, engine did not want to idle well and ran fair at full throttle. Had heard that the pitts exhaust would not allow enough tank pressure to get engine to run well, was suggested to plug off one of the down tubes on the Bison muffler, but had enough room to go back to stock O.S. muffler and it seemed to cure a lot of problems, Good luck, Bob.

RE: OS Max 91fx Shutting off above 3/4 throttle, HELP!
Couple of thoughts, 1. did any engine ever run right in this airframe? 2. Borrow a tank of fuel from a fellow rcer to see if your fuel may have condensation(water) in it, even if you can't visually see it, and 3. the tank is common to both engine problems, I have used a small tank that is plumbed correctly and just rubberband it to the fuse externally to see if it cures the problem. Good luck.

RE: Are Zap Adhesives Worth the Extra $$$?
bchapman, I remember back when guys used white glues, alpa-resins, etc., there may have be instant glue around, but the first ones I remembered were called "hot stuff" they would actually smoke and fume when laid down on some balsa. Then came zap and zap-a-gap and accelerators and so on and so forth. The glues that didn't "go off" and set was glue that had set on the shelf at the lhs. Probably because it was kinda new, and expensive compared to white glues. Plus you needed accelerators if you wanted to build really fast. I think that if you get bad instant glue that doesn't work, it's because it's not moving off of the shelf fast enough to get replaced with fresh glue. Have bought some from Hobby Lobby that turned out to be stale and would not set well. If your lhs has enough builders/users then they will turn stock over quick enough to constantly have fresh instant there. As far as brands, I used a lot of Zap, but they got pretty pricey, so most of the time I order from Tower in their stock up sales. Anyway, good luck, and have fun building, it's a great hobby, Bob.

RE: Need some ideas on putting balsa on foam wings.
Have used 3M spray contact cement. Spray both surfaces, let dry tack free, then put together, but as always, remember, when you touch both tack free surfaces together, there is no going back or readjusting. Wing that size, as you know is going to be somewhat heavy. I've seen the front portion and trailing portion of foam wings partially sheeted and a leading and trailing edge and shaped wing tips added, plus a center section glued in, then glassed for strength. I am assuming this is a two piece foam core. Then fake spar caps can be glued in place, so to simulate ribs when covering.

RE: OS 46/55 bearings bad again!
Have been using Byrons GenII 15%/with 20% oil, because I think their blending facility is top notch and reading their ad, it actually states that their fuels lubricate so well, their is no need to run after run oil. But I also think that any good quality fuel with enough oil content should give years of trouble free operation. Have seen guys have problems when they use the same steel fuel can and continue to just ad fuel into that can when it becomes low. I think they found out that they had some condensation in the can. Had much more trouble free results when they disposed of the plastic bottle ever time they ran out of fuel. Sounds like your club has tons of experience in RC. Can't believe Hobbico won't warranty these bearings for free, along with some recommendations. Just a thought, might take one engine and back the rpm back down to 13k(use it as a test case) and see if bearing life increases. Have always read and been told that engines "unload" when flown, but have never heard how much they "unload" rpm wise. Would have to carry some on board telemetry to find out?? Anyway, good luck with these problems.

RE: Platinum-less Glow Plugs
Our local club is probably like a lot of other clubs, always shopping for better glow fuel prices. A couple of years ago the guy the we were buying fuel from stated that he was having trouble getting nitro and also that he was going to change the formula of his fuel contents to stay at a competitive price, and as the conversation continued he stated that if we bought his new fuel and had trouble getting our engines to run the same as before, that he could sell us some $6 glow plugs that would cure the problems. I don't think he was able to make a large enough purchase of raw materials to mix and sell fuel on a competitive level, so he was cutting corners where he had to. Needless to say we didn't buy from him. Other problems we have seen is that if you don't burn a gallon of fuel within a normal amount of time that some condensation(water) can get in the fuel and cause more engine idle and run troubles. Also agree the glow plug could be getting bad, or if you think you could have some bad or old fuel, most of the time, you can borrow a tank of fuel from a fellow modeler to see if it cures your problems, Good Luck.

RE: New to Gas, What Oil Choice
Had a DLE 30cc and the instructions they send with that engine are only a couple of pages long. When you go to Tower Hobbies their manual is 30? pages long. Found a recommendation for oil in their manual, they said use synthetic oil. Called a Dle rep at Tower to find out what type of synthetic oil DLE recommended. He stated that they(he) did not recommend using synthetic oil, instead he said to use Lawn Boy ashless Gen II oil, and then after a couple of gallons of this mix, go to Amsoil. So you might call DLE service center 1(217)-398-8970, and see what they say, good luck, Bob.

RE: Greyhound shipped plane, LOST! , HELP!
Denny, didn't know until I asked around that Ebay owns Paypal. Anyway I am an ebayer and have a 100% positive feedback. Hadn't sold anything through Ebay for several months and decided to sell a couple of RC engines. Sold them for over $400.00, and ebay took what I thought was way too much for fees!! Anyway I get a posting on may Paypal account that s of the end of the month(July) that ebay would be holding any money that I made selling for up to 21 days, until they thought the buyer were satisfied., stating that my account looked suspicious?? I did everything ebay asked to do, communicated will the buyers, packaged and sent out sold items asap, described items accurately and all buyers posted a 100% positive feedback!!! Apparently not good enough for ebay. A short while later I started getting emails from buyers on ebay wanting more info on a car that I was selling and the bid was up to $9.000.00. After waiting a long time on the phone, I was actually able to talking to an Ebay rep, and after 2 hours of questions, I convinced they of who I was and after another hour, after getting someone with enough authority, they agreed that someone had stolen my user ID and had indeed, used it to post an ad for a car. Don't understand why?? Anyway ebay then told me that I HAD TO CANCEL THE AD, NOT THEM, EVEN THOUGH THEY Agreed I didn't post it. They then suspended my ebay account for a couple of weeks, to try to straighten things out and notify bidders that I didn't post ad. Anyway, I did talk to a paypal account person and explained my situation to her and stated that I didn't feel I had violated any ebay rules or regulations, and she stated that she would put in a request to get rid of the delay in the money, and after three more weeks, ebay lifted my restrictions. I won't deal with ebay any more. Sounds like you have went above and beyond trying to clear up a problem with shipping that wasn't yours to start with. I once shipped an rc plane to a guy in Florida, by way of Gray hound, and when he got it, it had a hole poked through the wing, so when he called, I asked him to take care of the situation, because I paid for insurance and Gray hound in Florida was going to have to deal with the damage. He did. I know the buyer paid you, but it wouldn't hurt to try and get him involved with Grayhound, (call and complain daily until the package is found)since this really affects him more than you. I realize that you are protecting you feedback scores and your ability to continue to sell with customer confidence. Can't blame people for being gun-shy about not getting what they paid for. But, it sounds like you are making every possible effort to make things right, Good luck, Bob.
