RE: savage vs aftershock
The most reliable Savage I ever had was the Savage Flux. That thing could take an unintentional beating and still stay running. With that said, I still prefer the Losi Aftershock MT to the Savage due to the flat chassis layout and simplicity of the overall design.

RE: savage vs aftershock
ORIGINAL: needanswerslol i wanted to post under traxxas because either the hpi or losi people will say losi or hpi, which is better the savage x or aftershock, i know they all have ups and downs, which is the all out best? thank you
Losi Aftershock is the better truck overall. The Aftershock is easier to work on and can handle a track MUCH better than a Savage.
ORIGINAL: akislander How about this Sidewinder Castle Creations ESC 4600kV Motor 4600 KV?
I'd only run this if you have 3S packs lying around. Otherwise, if you have 2S packs already just get the 5700 setup. You won't be hurting for power even with "only" 2S packs.
ORIGINAL: akislander Just got a new Hpi Blitz. Want to upgrade its motor. Any suggestions?
I went with the brushless setup the E Firestorm Flux comes with......which is just HPI's restickered version of the Castle Sidewinder 5700. Plenty of power (too much actually) for the Blitz. You will need to detune the ESC if you plan on racing it at a track.

RE: ****NEW TRAXXAS RC TRUCK****
ORIGINAL: airmayle Krazy Chicken- I looked at A-main and the Wheely King themed bodies look really good. I wonder why they didn't do more of the monster truck theme? As for marketing to younger children you need to go after the trucks that look really different. For example Jurassic Attack, Grave Digger, Batman truck, and Snakebite. These are just some of the trucks that really get the kids going. I think Traxxas is really looking at that younger age market.
It's all about the licensing and money. Traxxas has tons of money (obviously) and a marketing staff willing to take risks. Most kids don't even know what Snake Bite or Jurassic Attack are. They do know who Monster Mutt, Max D and Grave Digger are though. Traxxas nailed it perfectly. On a sidenote, Traxxas threw Advanced Auto Parts a bone and bodied one of the trucks like their Grinder. So far that isn't a good seller. lol

RE: ****NEW TRAXXAS RC TRUCK****
Say what you will, but I'm 35 and bought the Grave Digger and Monster Mutt replicas. Sure they are for the kids, but they are good enough for adults too. They are SWEET! They look real and perform pretty darn good. So what if they aren't 4WD? They don't need it. The only gripe is the way outdated AM radio they come with, but I have a couple of Traxxas 2.4s on the way. Other than that, these trucks are nothing but fun and can take quite a beating. And a bearing set for them is less than $10.

Then buy a set of Monster Jam tires/wheels and a body. The body will probably be $40-50 and a set of tires and wheels will probably be the same. You will be pretty darn close to the price of the Monster Jam replica.

Savage Flux-free here. Ebay'd mine a month ago and hopefully whomever bought it is having fun with it. Cool truck for sure and the best Savage ever made. Still can't figure out why HPI never offered a factory XL version of the HP instead of the gimp 4S version they just released.

It's more than most can handle and more than the truck can handle really. If you haven't driven a Flux at WOT on 6S, you won't understand.

The MMM is made to run on 6S. Can't see why they would fry from 6S itself. I've been running my Flux on 6S since I pulled it out of the box well over a year ago-no problems.

Is this geared to high? IÂ ran the other day at the Carrolton track and on the second lap my ESC went out. Called Castle and they are sending a new one to me. I have heard someone say that for this setup the gearing needs to be lowered down. Anyone have any advice?
I have the same setup as you and I run a 21/88 gear combo.....seems most guys running this motor/esc on 2S in the Blitz run this gearing. I think your ESC died because it was defective...not because of the gearing.

Ditch the nitro Savage and get yourself a Savage Flux (or Traxxas BL Maxx or BL Revo). They're quiet and much, much faster than their nitro counterparts. Your neighbors will thank you because nitro engines are quite annoying to those that don't know anything about RC.

RE: HobbyCity Lipo help!
Cutting strands from the wire physically weakens it and most importantly, severely degrades the electrical carrying propertires of the wire at the connection point and besides, removing conductors is a wiring 101 no-no.
