RE: Final flights of my F-16/Video
mines still going tor, fantastic model, although a few P I R's (pilot induced repairs) and more than a few engine problems, if they ever get sorted out i'll go into detail, $10,000 ($8,000 u s) down the drain

RE: wren 44 blade failure
ORIGINAL: sideshow
ORIGINAL: frema Dont put this failures on this forum . Its not good for the name of Wren. Dont ask the forum viewers ,but ask Sara of Wren directly.
I hope this was a language barrier or troll post. I don't think you shouldn't post stuff because of the Manufacturer's name, I also don't you should post things just to trash a Manufacturer. That all being said, and I've never owned a Wren (Jetcat only), they seem to be VERY responsive to issues (real or perceived) with their engines. There seems to be a pride at the company in ease of use and reliability with their motors. There's a reason their customers are so loyal. If there is truly a problem, they will remedy it. Let Wren work the problem and I can almost guarantee the OP will be back posting that he is a happy camper......just sayin'.
sorry mate but you and me must buy different makes of engine .i could not conceive of more pathetic, i won't say dishonest, but i will say disinterested, lack of service or ''duty of care". i am out over $7,500 aud ($6,000 u s) from both sides of the pond. nearly 2,000 for a repaired engine that lasted 8 runs, and so very nearly destroyed my f 16,(6 months) and 5,500 for a 160 sx ,4 runs, blown ignighter, sent for service, lost!(12 months), common reply? (AFTER payment) tell someone who cares. this is not a tall tale or a flame, i had to work a lot of overtime to indulge myself these luxuries, and now can't fly, and have to wait like a begger because i'm not the editor of a mag. going by previous form from these "gentlemen", i'm expecting nothing less than nothing. i know i really should be more patient. ps expecting to be banned from rcu for badmouthing the buddys

RE: gear to brake mix jr10x
mix your brake channel to gear switch to hold full brakes on with gear up. your brakes should not lose pressure during the flight, depending on valve type of course, a bvm or the new jetronic don't use much air, i think 2 psi per cycle, on with gear up and off with gear down is only 1 cycle. i mix nose steering off and brakes off with gear up, you can command most channels to position. been a while since a big programming effort for me but i'm sure someone will chime in with detailed "how to's " or this ain't R.C.U.

RE: NEW VIDEO OF DAVID SHULMAN'S VISIT TO KUWAIT.
Here here David G, i agree completely. I seem to recall that not to long ago one of David Shulmans' models crashed in a fireball runway centre, hardly "dumb thumbs" but highly demonstrative of the need to resist the temptation to "let your hair down" and toss S.O.P. out the window.

RE: JetCat Germany good service
g'day john, i'd like to take this opportunity to unreservedly apologise for the tone of my last post, it was quite unwarranted, verbose and ill directed. i'll persue the engines through intairco, the proprietor of which loaned me an engine when the sx played up so really a finer gent one would be hard pressed to find and i should think myself lucky to have such friends. short of any satisfaction through this course of action i'll take up your generous offer of help. i must make much more of an effort to measure my responses, sorry for coming across as so petulant and petty, and better luck this time in the ashes! yours in embarrassment jeff sparkes

could john or david send an email on my behalf and ask about my p160 sent for repairs in july or my 160 sx which clagged after 4 starts (you can't even change a plug or start on gas) but the sx is only 2 months wait so far. is that the service that you're crowing about? REALLY wish i had bought another pst, they do know how to spell 'customer relations' well done jg?

i'll give you 50 australian pesos, but hurry, tomorrow they'll only be worth 45. probably a good time for the world to buy from here, our dollar has gone from 98cents US to 60cents in 2 months, same with euro and pounds, so no yellow f18 twin for me, for now. couldn't get an email response anyway

RE: Help with SM F 18 C
careful measuring from the spar, mine (now busted up) and my friend georges have 25mm (1 inch) difference in spar location, my spar is 100mm from the leading edge ( where it meets the fuse) and the cg ended up 25mm behind that, georges is 125mm on the spar. skymaster recommended on the spar for mine which was way too far forward. check your measurements from the leading edge. hey ravill, how far from the l/e is your c/g, out of curiosity?

RE: s/m 1/6 f16 in my hot little hands!
mine has flown with aileron/elevator and elevon/ flap and is now back to ail/elev, to me it feels much more crisp, it never looks like needing flap, lands great, and slow (relativly) and just won "model of the meet" at wangaratta in australia. i''m sure tor flys his with elevon and probably would not change either, might be a matter of your own flying preference, but in any case you won''t be dissapointed with this puppy, it was born to fly! there were some great fotos taken by marie and andy but they haven''t been emailed yet, will post and stroke ego asap

great to see them flying, it is a superb flying model. the fin stories make me feel vindicated in my assessment of rudder setup, yes its a little uglier than some of the more elegant solutions on offer, particularly from the doyan of aesthetics and nice things mr tor, but it as strong as a brick dunny! 8711 direct drive well done all you guys and i hope they give as much fun as mine has ( first fly for 8 weeks this coming weekend)

RE: s/m 1/6 f16 in my hot little hands!
andy, trailing edge of the speed brake, look at any f16 and you can see how the datum line does not follow the fuse shoulder, straight and level (flying) the airplane seems to sit nose high. tam is by all accounts a great bloke, makes excellent models, treats his customers right, flys the pants off his jets and likes the green bottle like a real man (though i wonder how he'd travel on aussie beer, hope to find out someday) sorry to say it but who cares where he measures throws from, what they are, or anything else about his f16, the skymaster website gives good start points for THIS model. as a last resort, i would attempt to transpose and extrapolate tam's , or violet's, or aviation designs' or spyder's or yellow's c/g and throws onto this f16 but its totally not necessary. start with:- elevator 60mm up and down aileron 20mm up and down (at the fuse) rudder 25mm left and right and go easy on the nose gear steering, this unit is travelling fast at rotation c/g is on the spar joiner ( just in front, i rechecked it) and it could easily go back, mine lands a bit fast. tanks empty, 195mm from the leading edge where it meets the fuse thats how mine is set up and it flys great. don't worry about this airplane, its a ripper! ps i have it from a reliable source that exponential is just "dial in slop", and you are allowed a little of it on steering if you really must. pps, if likai has 7mm up at trailing edge (of speedbrake) its probably quite nose heavy, fine if you have an airport at your disposal for first flights.

RE: s/m 1/6 f16 in my hot little hands!
g'day craig, check page 2 post 43 photo 2, same problem for me, they must come out of the jig all the same. i scraped about 2-3mm off the left side of the gear former, more off the inside to straighten up the gear leg, has the net effect of a bit of 'toe in' mine works fine, i think i would be careful of packing it towards the front, you may run out of room for the tyre. put some extra ply behind the former if you take a lot off the wheel bay side, i didn't and its had 40 flights off grass, no problem. i beleive another has just been test flown in melbourne, i'll try to get some details of that one posted here
