voltage rating for RS300 Rx
Hi, I know the RS300 is rated for 4.8v - 6v, well, my 6v hump pack after fully charged always have voltage of 6.7v, would this higher than rated voltage level damage the receiver ? Thank you.

Replacement of the Fuel bottle cap
Hi, i have a fuel bottle that is similar to this: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLS14&P=7 , I have lost the little black cap. So what would you guys suggest to replace it ? I usually would fill up the bottle with fuel and store it in the locker room, the balck cap has done a great job sealing it, now I can't think of anything that can do the job, please help.

I have a big Hauler Bag for my savage, I love this bag, but it's just way too big to carry in the public. So how do you folks carry your truck ?

Rive, or tear. so I tried to tear off the tires from the rims, but that would destory the tires from what I saw, part of the rubber is still sticking on the rims... if I just glue the open part, would the residues matter ?

Help, can't star/run the engine with pressure line on.
Hi, I havea savage 4.6, ran thr ought about 1 gallon fuel already, it always have problem with the pressure line. Racently, i put a one way valve into the fuel tank to prevent the fuel flow backwards, but the problem now is that it's damn hard to start the engine with the pressure line on. If I take the presure line off, start the engine, put it back, the truck will dies(hydro lock) quickly, but I leave the pressure line unattatched, the truck will run just fine, but there would be alot of fuels spilling out from the top exhoust hole of the pipe. Please help !

Just broke my Rx antenna wire
Hi, the receiver I am using is JR RS300, the antenna wire has been cutted off by half of its total length after a rolling crash of the truck. And I couldn't find the broken part of the wire, so I can only buy new wires to solder them on, so what kind of wire should I buy ? ( I don't want to send it to the company for repairing because it takes seveal weeks and the radio I bought is second hand). Another thing is, this is my third time doing soldering, so any technical suggestions you have ?

Engine stop everytime when break applied.
Hi, I just started break in this Savage 4.6, went through about 3 tanks of gas so far. I found that if I apply the break, the engine will stop immediately. It even stops when I manually pull the break, what possibly could be the problem(the linkage is been set correcttly for sure. ) ? Another problem is that the maxium tempture of my engine when running is always lower than 50C, (about 125F ), even with tin foil wrapped around the heat sink, it still won't pass 50C. It's pretty cold in here right now, but my friend's 1/10th buggy engine can reach 98C (200F)in a few seconds (it's also a new car). What should I do ?

I installed the stock linkage exactly like the manual, however the problem is when I push the trigger, the carb would be closed entirely, but hte manual shows it should keep a gap just like it's in neutral. What possibly could be the problem ?

RE: Break spring is touching with slipper clutch nut
And also, how tight shoud I tighten my slipper clutch nut ? Some said they tightened it all teh way in then loosen 1/2 to 1 turn, and that never caused a problem. Are they bullshitting coz the manual says tight slipper clutch would damage the drive chain ? Also, is there a way to play around the slipper clutch nut without taking out the engine ?

Break spring is touching with slipper clutch nut
I just put on the break linkage spring (86356e) on carburator, and I noticed the spring is ouching the cluth nut, the reason is probaly because of the holder (which is a small pellet)on the low speed adjuster is in horizontal position( the manual shows it is about 60 degree higher than horizontal level), is there a way to turn this pellet ? Or if I just leaving the spring contact with the slipper clutch nut, will it cause any problems ? Another thing is the break linkage spring I received is different than the one shown in the manual(the looping length is the same thou), will this cause problems ? Thanks. And by the way, the truck is a Savage SS K4.6

RE: replacement steering servo
Well, my HS 645MG just dead for no reason. It was tested alright right out of the box, but after about one and a half month sitting on the truck(the truck hasn't moved once), its respondence suddenly gets slow and even no response at all. Called Tower, they told me they couldn't do a thing about it since they have no service center for Hitec R/C equipment.
ORIGINAL: thunderw0lf
ORIGINAL: boydie1 I just noticed a guy on ebay Australia selling TowPro metal gear servos for $15 USD. I dont know if they're any good but I've ordered one as a replacement for my steering servo. Will keep posted Specifications: TowerPro Professional Speed MG995 Servo >Dimensions: 1.57" x 0.79" x 1.44" (40 x 20 x 36.5mm) >Weight: 1.78oz (48g) >Operating Speed (4.8V no load) : 0.17sec / 60 degrees >Operating Speed (6.0V no load) : 0.13sec / 60 degrees >Stall Torque (4.8V): 77oz/in (13kg/cm) >Stall Torque (6.0V): 94oz/in (15kg/cm) >Temperature Range: -30 to +60 Degree C >Dead Band Width: 4usec >Operation Voltage: 3.5 - 8.4Volts
Never heard of that brand but 94 oz/in of torque is gonna be pretty lean for the Savage. I recommend the Hitec 5645, puts 160 in/oz at 6 volts.
HOld on, you see, it says 15Kg/cm at 6.0v, that is twice of the 645MG which is 7.7kg/cm, what the hell, I am so confused !!!

RE: HPI ALUMINUM THREADED SHOCK SET
Well, I am more concerned of its sealing, durability, and bleeding. I found the stock plastic shocks are extreamly hard to bleed, I have read though hundreds of posts, instructions, and tips, but no matter what method I choose, and how hard I try, there's always air traped in the shock body which makes the piston rebound at least 3mm when fully compressed. I even drilled holes on the middle of the cap, but nothing helped. This is so frustrating. I am even thinking if I received defected shock molds.

Alright, I am so tired of this. Whoever successfuly built their shock, please let me ask you a question: when you pushing your piston up and down with the cap tightened, can you hear any squishing noises ? EDIT: I will try some bladder tomorrow.

RE: Shock sealing problem
I tried to get all the air out, but now I think I will leave some air inside of the shock. Here's the reason:
Of all the theories that have been mentioned on this thread, no one has really hit the nail on the head as to why there is a pressure build up when you compress the shock (if you havent topped up oil with the piston near the top or if you havent bled the shock). The simple reason is the SHOCK ROD (and the savage rod is a bug 'un) displaces a certain amount of volume and if you fill your shocks to the top with the piston down you have not accounted for the volume they displace when they are up, therefore when they come up into the oil, pressure is built up (and we all know what happens when too much pressure builds up!!)...its gotta come out!! Therefore the correct method to fill a shock is this: Fill shock with oil almost to the top, Push piston up slowly til it is almost to the top, this should cause some oil to overflow. Bring back piston all the way to the bottom. You will now have a shock that is almost full with a space for some air at the top. Screw on cap. The air that is left in the shock will COMPRESS when the piston travels up into the shock body. Failure to leave an airgap will result in: A. If you have left the piston down and filled to the top, as we all know PREESURE BUILD-UP!!! B. If you have raised the piston and filled up, then put the cap on without bringing the piston back down, you have now created an environment that causes a NEGATIVE PRESSURE when the piston is brought back down. In other words you are trying to suck the walls of your shock inwards. Beacause when you bring the piston down you are taking volume out of the shock and there is nothing to replace that volume until the shock compresses again. Oh and hi all im new here as I have just got me a Savage SS 4.6 (and boy WHAT A TRUCK!!!) Cheers, Azzman
I will let you know how it works.

RE: Shock sealing problem
ORIGINAL: Stablock But the O rings are already new. And you are pushing the shock shaft up before screwing the cap on, right? Perhaps you just need to screw the caps on tighter. ???? Terrible advise but I don't see what else it could be? What oil are you using? how much oil from the shock was missing?
I pushed the shock shaft to the top before screwing the cap and I am sure it's very tight. I use 30wt silicone oil. I can't really tell how much oil was missing, but I can tell you the first time I built them, there were no pressure inside the shock. But now it's very bad, as I push the piston to the top, air inside will push it back to about 1/4 of the shaft length.
This is a shot in the dark but I made a big mistake of thinking the o-ring went around the bottom of the shock body threads instead of inside the shock cap. You by chance did not make the same mistake did you?
I am sorry, what exactly do you mean ? I put the O Ring into the bottom of the cap before I screw it on the body, isn't that correct ? EDIT: And btw, when you sliding the piston up and down after built, should you hear anything ? Mine makes some noise when I sliding the shaft, it sounds like there's air init.
