RE: On the workbench tonight....
Great work Joe, Your build is helping me with my all metal Mato Tiger it will have the EL MOD Flex board as well. This new board is going to open up a whole new level for the Hobby, and give us the ability to run these heavy all metal tanks with all the power we need, plus all the sounds we want. Here are the specs on what the New EL MOD Flex Board offers. ThinkTank Tank Module PRO Flex is a high integrated control unit for tank models. This central unit is designed for the ambitious modeller and features wide connectivity for miscellaneous controls. It allows the use of external off-the-shelf ESCs for the chain drive. Thus the power limitation and motor types are only limited by the external ESCs. Even brushless motors may be easily used in association with the sophisticated solutions for tank vehicles provided by ElMod. Requirements •A tank model and a common RC-radio and receiver with four to eight channels. *** •Two off-the-shelf reversible ESCs for the chain drive or one dual channel reversible ESC. *** Scope of delivery Tank Module PCB and all necessary cables for use with an RC receiver. Moderator Please remove this Way off Topic Post I agree with some, not all that was written here, but we have a hard enough time getting guys/gals to participate in posting their builds or comments, without the grammar police now scrutinizing everyone’s writing. What about the disabled, what about the unfortunate? I have no excuse, as I grew up in a decent middle class home, and I am still terrible with grammar. Heck, my memory was refreshed by the few things that were pointed out as annoyances. I don’t think we should discourage guys/gals from writing or sharing even if they cannot spell, it’s a hobby right, and we just don’t have the ability to judge who is who, let them all come. Phil
ORIGINAL: spiritoth <img src=''http://rctanksaustralia.com/images/upgrade/upgrade_27.gif'' alt=''http://rctanksaustralia.com/images/upgrade/upgrade_27.gif'' /> I found this but don't really understand how to actually wire the 4wires from the recoil.
Hello Spiritoth, That wire diagram can be confusing, see the one I have attached to keep it simple. Take the positive wire from the airsoft gun and put it to the positive lug of the recoil motor, take the negative wire from the airsoft gun unit and put it to the negative lug on the recoil motor. Now with EL MOD you do not need that switch to trigger the HL Flash unit, just plug the 5 pin connector that is on the EL MOD board and don't worry about the 2 pin socket or anything coming off of the recoil unit. EL MOD will trigger the flash and it will be synchronized the cannon sound. Tip, play around with the outer spring of the HL recoil unit, loosen it up some and it will not be so snappy but don't go too crazy with it. The Blitz
ORIGINAL: Perry S.  you could just stack styrene sheets in there to the height of the standoffs and through drill it. End up with a mounting that is infinetely stronger with no flexure and dispose of the HL standoffs and their split a day nature. Sorry Phil, love you and love everything you sell but those plates are chincy. Perry
Hello Perry, I respect your opinion, but I think you have the plates mistaken for something I use to sell. These plates are the Mato steel plate cut into two pieces that comes with the Mato Gearbox. That is designed for the Heng long standoffs and is much stronger then styrene in my opinion. Maybe you still prefer one sheet of styrene? I do not think you have tested this set up using the Mato plate that comes with the new Mato 2.0 gearbox or have you? Phil

The AGermans used the tracks to steer like a tank did, as well as the front wheels. The board has good power as Nick Agular used it & my 280 motor in his all metal 222. Or just uses the M-16 board. Phil
ORIGINAL: yellowshaker I was thinking of using an elmod unit if possible. If you take the steering channel and split it with a servo splitter, would that work?
Hello Joe, Maybe I don't understand the question but I carry 2 boards that are designed to run the Halftracks, and both of them will work with front steering off of one servo. The Xion or 22x board was designed for the German Halftracks, you can add sound board but it was not designed to take a CSI http://www.rctankwars.com/Pdf/Bst22X_en_A5_080201.pdf Or you can use the new Halftrack board that they designed for the WSN M-16 Halftrack and of course you can set it up with the correct engine sounds etc sound board already included in the price and built into the board, and it uses front end servo steering. http://www.el-mod.de/pdf/M16_english.pdf?osCsid=39jsp7f39618iiivb2ill30mq7 Phil

Super Smoker is Back Super Smoker II
Well finally its back, and even better, now the Super Smoker II. This unit runs off of 7.2 volts and it has proportional smoke output linked to speeding up or reducing the speed of your motors. It uses a special Fog liquid made of Glycerol, so no greasy residue. The units work in Heng long, Tamiya, SLU, and EL MOD. Although the EL MOD is its own version, and cost $ 60.00 as it has a variable resistor to adjust how the smokes output as it interacts with the EL MOD electronics. http://rctankwars.com/Products.asp Phil

RE: Coming soon to this forum (not for the rivit counters)
ORIGINAL: Tanque Certainly not for rivet counters either. It is my opinion that this sort of discussion doesn't have any place in a topic specific rc forum. Perhaps in a different era or time but not now. Perhaps some other societies are more lenient to this sort of thing than ours is. If you want to set off little rockets or firecrackers go to a forum for such activity. We don't need to add the trappings of a lunatic fringe element to an otherwise excellent hobby. Bigmig I'm sure you are a clever builder of things but its been my observation that you come and go with your emotional whims. How many times have you threatened to ''leave the forum once and for all''? In other words despite what you might believe you don't have any substantial investment in this hobby any therefore you don't really concern yourself what harm you may do it and to those of us who might be in it for the long run. I'm sure my opinion will raise the ire of many, there it is. Jerry
I like to idea of shooting something as much as the next guy, but there is a lot of wisdom in what Jerry writes. I think that sometimes you just put your own ego aside and say, yea the other guy is right and even if we feel we have the right to say it or do it, what is the greater good? Phil

Hello All, Clips for the video was taken from our last two battles, one in June & the latest early July. The video show some shots of a good scrap with a few different angles of the same kill. My US Halftrack, well that is what I get for taking on Merle in his Stug III and Harvey with his Jagdpanther! We had a good turnout at the last battle, considering guys were on vactions & others had obligations. We still had 4 on 4 and got in 9 very competitive battles. Hey All, I sell the DBCRC2 without the IR components (picture below shows all the IR components and the 2nd sound card which comes with the full kit.) but I do include in the price $ 105.00 one sound card with a custom cannon sound and you have all the connectors on the board should you want to upgrade later to the IR battle components, they will just be plug n play. Here are the specs for what you get Adjustable weight classes damage (1, 3, 5, 9) reduction in speed when damaged (approx50%@1,1,1,1) (approx25%@1,2,3,5) reload times (2, 3, 5, 9) in seconds 15 seconds from death to mobility (engine shuts down on destruction, restarts and ready to move after 15s) temporary invulnerability after death (20 ,15, 12, 10) in seconds Momentum/inertia option affected by weight class slow acceleration coasts to a stop soft braking (partial opposite stick) hard braking (full opposite stick) Super Spin disable option Enabled by default disables super spin completely allows much smoother control of skid-turning at low speeds and when accelerating into a turn from rest Radio failsafe: sets tank to neutral after losing radio signal for ~1/4second Remote config after power on (until ignition pressed) You can program with your Hobby Radio can (en/dis)able Momentum can (en/dis)able Super Spins useful for having "realistic" motion for recreational driving, but full capability when battling useful for disabling momentum when driving in confined spaces (protects fragile add-ons) can (en/dis)able recoil blocking IR input & hit LEDs interface compatible with Tamiya "apple"/TBU or DBU IR output compatible with standard IR LED (including Tamiya's) Thanks, Phil
