The 1500mah battery is pretty small for that motor. You should look at 3000 and up for that plane. http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-3300-4s1p.html http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-4000-4s1p.html This may add a little confusion because they come with 4mm banana connectors. If you wanted to stay with Deans, you would need to change them over or build an adapter. Buzz.

RE: Great Planes Goldberg Anniversary Cub Kit
I have to agree. I have had two of them for almost 20 years now. Mine never had a tip stall problem. I could hang them on the wing in a gentle breeze and fly them with a zero ground speed. My last one is a super heavy pig of a plane. Colortex covered then about half of it is painted. I flew it with an O.S. 70fs at about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. It just sort of floated through the air. My opinion is people would try to horse it off the ground, think of it as a light weight trainer and it came back to bite them and they blamed the plane, not the thumbs flying it. Buzz.

RE: Airtronics sd-10g-super OR Futaba 8fg
I am a long time Airtronics person. I have never had an issue with my gear. But I will play devils advocate here for a second. It was mentioned to use the FrySky Rx's with the HIGH dollar Futaba radio. Why spend the big bucks on a name brand radio then go CHEAP on the Rx's? I have never understood this part? If you are going to go cheap, then get a 9x radio from Hobbypartz. I do have one and it has been a good radio. I had done a few modes to it. But I used it in stock form for over a year and it was rock solid. Plus the 6 channel Rx's are $9.00. I have to say this is one of the few gems where you get a lot for your money. I can not say it is any where as nice as the 10G, yet after I upgraded the firmware, it is a lot of radio. I now have 15 planes on this radio. From 6 ounce foam park flyers to 60 sized glow and 2.3m sail plane. http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-th9x-r9b-9channel-radio.html http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-r6b-receiver.html Buzz.

No you do not have to use digital servos. That is only on the 10 channel Rx. If you use the 8, 6, 5 channel Rx's analog servos work just fine. You can bind all of the Airtronics Rx's to the 10G. Buzz.

RE: Beginner TX probably Airtronics RDS 8000
Well a lot of radios now come with just Tx, Rx, chargers. If you wanted to fly a micro electric the standard servos would be a waste, if you bought the radio for a giant scale the servos would be a waste. The type and size of servos is a huge change over the years. From the tiny 3.5 gram to the monster's that have 500 ounces of torque. Standard servos are cheap. Even name brand servos are $15.00 or so each. I have (2) of the RDS8000 and it is a great radio. Does a whole lot for a good price. They have never let me down, easy to program. You can not go wrong with a RDS8000. For standard servos, I have a bunch of these. http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php/airtronics-94102z-standard-servo-z-connector.html Buzz.

First off welcome to the forum. Ten minutes, you are an older timer now :) I am not a Spectrum person so I do not really know them to well. Is the Rx a real one or one of the orange clones? Have you tried another Rx? I would do a some serious range testing!! If you are alone, you can make paddles that attach to the control surfaces with clothes pins. That way you can see if they twitch or move as commanded from a long distance. Others should chip in who know the spectrum a lot better then I do. Buzz.

Well if you look at a Park 450 1200kv motor, 9X5 APC "E" prop. You will get just under two pounds of thrust. So that would fly a foam plane in the 20 ounce range. Here is a free online calc program. http://www.s4a.ch/eflight/motorcalc_e.htm It has a bunch of turnigy motors to pick from so you can try batteries, props to get an idea of what they might produce. RE: E-Flight 25 in a Hobbico 40 balsa ?
Well the ESC would be to small for the 11X8 and a 4s battery. If you go to a 3s battery, but you would have to increase the prop size. It is a balance between battery, and prop. Lower cell count of battery means larger prop, so there is a trade off. With a 3s battery would only give about 53 ounces of thrust. Not enough to really fly it. May need to make taller gear, or go with a higher cell count battery. Buzz.

RE: E-Flight 25 in a Hobbico 40 balsa ?
You can use this online calc program to test motor battery and prop combo's You did not say if you have a battery or not. So I picked a 4s 4000mah. http://www.s4a.ch/eflight/motorcalc_e.htm2 Using a 4s 4000mah lipo, Eflite .25, 12X5 prop you would be right at the limit of the ESC. Says you will pull 42 amp at 88 ounces, -5.5 pounds of thrust. Would be better to get a 60 amp ESC Using an 11X7 APC E prop brings thrust up to 96 ounces or 6 pounds of thrust at 42 amps ESC http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-flyfun-60a.html Buzz.

RE: Goldberg Cub Conversion
What level of performance are you looking for? If you want a super sonic cub or a real scale like flyer? If you have not built the wings yet, I would suggest you use dual ailerons servos. 60 sized motor. Use an APC 18X6 or so prop. Lots and lots of power. http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m606-bigfoot60-4030-400kv.html ESC http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e08-proton-80a.html Battery http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-5500-6s1p.html Now if you want a more scale like flyer Motor Use an APC 13X5, 12X6, 12X8. One old time method is to boil water, dropping in baking soda, as it dissolves in the boiling water. Keep adding baking soda until the water can not hold any more and it starts to settle on the bottom of the pan. Wait till the water cools, put in a spray bottle. Cheap kicker. Buzz.

Easy to build, easy to fly, fun to fly, great plane, loved the 3 of mine. Do not fly to low inverted, then pull full up, that is how #1 ended. Was very exciting for 1/2 of a second. Put a 60 in it and have fun. I wore the treads out on my second one. I started with treaded wheels and ended up with smooth tires I flew it so much. Buzz.

RE: [Awaiting Approval]
I think all of the newer radios are leaps and bounds ahead of the older radios. Yet Futaba and hitec let me down. I have flown Airtronics for many, many years now without a glitch, hiccup or any problems. My old 72 Futaba, it was not if I got hit but how many times per flight. Hitec was perfect for just over a year, then I would not use the radio radio, I did not trust it. Asking if there is a radio out there that does not loose signal is like asking if there is a car that does not break down. If it is put together by humans, it can and will fail. I wish my thumb was as reliable as my radios, it would save me a lot of money :) Not sure about control line either, I have had lines break. Might take up free flight, no radio to worry about. But then again, if you use a mechanical timer, that might fail. Buzz.

12v would fry the retract in a blaze of smoking glory. They are rated at the same voltage as a servo. Does this plane have landing gear doors? If so, they should plug into a sequence board. Is this the 47 inch wing span Mustang? Did it come with "Y" connectors? Plug the aileron servos into a "Y" connector, both retracts into another "Y"? Is the single wire really only one wire or are there 2 very small wires? Looks like it is for the wing tip LED? Buzz.

RE: Newbi with motor ,esc, batt questions ?Falcon foamie.
Well the RimFire running a 1600mah 3s 11.1v battery 11X5 APC "E" prop pulls 13 amps and give 30 ounces of thrust. So for that setup you would need a larger ESC Using the AXI 2212/26 with a 3s battery 11X6 prop give 30 ounces of thrust. So if your planes ready to fly are in the 16 to 20 ounce weight range, they should fly well enough. ESC http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e02-proton-18a.html Battery http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-1300-3s1p.html Might even be able to go to a lower MAH battery http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-1000-3s1p.html Buzz.

RE: Any Advice on Great Planes PT-60 Conversion?
Ahhhhh, where to start? You will need to have the batteries, motor, ESC on hand. You will need to make a hatch so you can swap the batteries without taking off the wing. Here are some more pictures of my conversion. I went with the stand offs because I could not find a mount that was the right length. You may need to make new landing gear. I had to increase mine to clear the 18X6 prop. I used 5/32 piano wire and just used the stock gear as a template and made the gear 2 inches longer. It also help for ground clearance when I have a glider strapped on. Buzz.
