RE: 42 cc homelite
I use a apc 16x8 prop on that size of motor myself if you are low on power check the compression of the motor it may need re ringed or replaced . a 14/7-3 blade may still be to small , it was for me good luck

RE: .40-.46 build plans
The end angles of the ribs change for the curve of the hull which make it handle better while turning . If it was the same all the way down the side it would dig in very easily and flip Ok the odd measurements are the length of the angle measured from the top outside edge of the rib to the bottom outside edge of the rib if this makes any since to you \___/ The height of the rib is the same all the way across Hope this helps

RE: First airboat build
Hmm that strange cause most of us run with the fuel tank just under the motor and a 46 will keep the fuel pressure up Have you tried a oneway valve on the fuel line ? Remember if the motor was tuned for airplane running before you need to tune it for boat running now As a airboat motor it doesnt unload as airplane does plus we very the throttle a lot faster & it doest cool as much like it does in the air [;)] Hope these thoughts help

RE: air cleaner?
Heres my thought If you have a airfilter & it gets wet the dirt turns to mud & mud clogs the filter or runs into the motor, than theres a big chunk mud in the motor It does more damage than just the water flooding the motor Have you ever noticed the airboaters have the cleanest motors [8D]

RE: Engine Mounting Advice
Doubling the 3mm ply would make a better stronger stand with a hull that narrow you may be to top heavy with a 46 on top of it instead of turning it will just flip [:-] don't just glue the motor stand in PUT SCREWS IN IT The engine vib's will break the glue lose from the coro & you will have a runaway mess This boat was to narrow & flipped all the time its has a 46 on it

RE: 3D product design project
Well heck i'll give it a shot 1. I use air rudder , water rudders get hung up on weeds & rocks no fun there 2. Bacon grease , hahaha i have no real idea 3. fishing line stretch s & dry rots, metal linkages is the only way to go 4. How big of prop are you using ? How high is the center of gravity ? really Yes 5. a water proof box & radio box tape 6. expoy fiberglass paint 7. C Orange & white I have a airboat with those colors 8. Pay more to have reverse assuming its a eletric powered , reversing nitro would be cool 9. Have no idea sorry 10. A cage or prop guard is a very good idea. Had the end of my finger cut off by a airboat & it had a cage i could of lost a hand if it didn't

RE: bad porpoising please help..
Sounds like you need a bit of weight add to the nose of it a few oz. in right place may calm it down if you need more than 6oz. to settle it down , you need to see about changing the motor angle some more Hope this helps

Point the nose of the motor up by adding a washer under both front mounting bolts holes that should help some, thats 2 or 3 degree incline should help alot on the porpoising

RE: how is a rooster tail formed?
Cavitation happens when the rpm of the prop is greater than the flow of water into the prop creating a air pocket around the prop & not letting water into the blades to provide thrust a rooster tail is just water existing the rear of the prop moving at high speed hitting slow or none moving water & breaking the surface tension of the water & spraying in the air This is about as techy as i can get on this subject [8D] Hope this helps
