RE: Jet Product Supply Monopolies
Plus one on that Dave !!...what bothers me is why are these hobby shops willing to work for so small a profit ,after all one slight mistake on an invoice leads to a loss .!!! End users think this is great ,getting new realeased models at nearly cost ,but in the end they will suffer ,because their local shop wont be interested in stocking these items ,.... no profit ...no point !! I also wonder does the end user honestly think that discount shops dont need profit !...if so where do they get it ? they have to screw it from someone..their only optiion is from their customers discretely on smaller items and especially carriage. The distributor suffers as instead of having 100 's of customers spreading their goods out to every model shop in the land and giving everyone at either end of the country a chance to look in the flesh at their products he is left with two or three big retailers who now will be in a posisition to dictate prices at wholesale and retail level (bad for everyone ) I get it once a week ,customer buys item heavilly discounted ,then who does he come to when he dosnt understand it or it dosnt work!

RE: Offaly Jets JMAI Ireland 7-8 of July
Yes sure was a brilliant weekend ,although a few didnt turn up we did a lot of flying ,it felt like there were dozens of pilots ,we were certainly well entertained by Mike all weekend (he should be on TV)..it was also good to meet Martin and Steve as well,we are all firm friends now and thats exactly what its all about. As for the local B&B now that is something else ,5 star hotel would not have a look in !!!...the hospitality and banter really made the weekend ,I could go to Offally jets without a model and still have a great time . The Legend Harry never bent a pin all weekend ,(Dave W .will not be at all well.... no business once again ) Thanks Andreas ....we really have to work on some of the UK guys to get them to come over soon !!

RE: Question on protecting rudder servo from tailpipe???
I would always use thin balsa sheet ,covered with thin aluminium /chrome tape ,tacked in place with a few blobs of silicone adhesive, if you are worried about heat place a piece of heatshrink on top of the protected servo or the underside of the balsa sheet and check after a few runs or short test flights to see if it has shrunk ,tiny bit of weight added ,but will give you confidence to fly your jet knowing mr. rudder servo is COOL!

RE: YS115 wont start
modellers argue about fuel all the time ,the one I use has 20 per cent synth oil and has never given me a problem in ten years since I moved from cool power ...will stick with it ... now I know what to lookout for .. when my engine wont start .

RE: YS115 wont start
hey four stroker ..was using Weston Pro Synth 10 per cent ..use this in all my engines ...the YS agent in the UK said it would be fine ,but then again he dosnt answer e-mails or phone calls when you have a problem Weston fuel is mixed by volume not weight so is better than most other fuels at 20 per cent . I knew this question would crop up... eventually ! Hard to believe I know, but my friend who runs a YS110 and was laid up for a few months using the same fuel ,just contacted me to say his valve had stuck open as well ... maybe fuel has something to do with it !!................. but I would bet its the lack of constant use . at that rate might have to sell some models

RE: YS115 wont start
thanks for the help guys ......got it sorted ...the valve was stuck down in the open posisition leaving at a guess 5mm clearance to the rocker ,that is why even with fuel in the carb and top of the piston there was no pop and no compression....... I used release oil and tri flow spray flooded around the valve seat...............,heated it all as hot as I could with a solarfilm heat gun then used small needle nosed forceps to gently pull the valve up closed .............and again flooding the whole area with tri flow oil ,turning the prop a few times and with a little help from the forceps the valve now pops up every time .... knew it couldnt be carbon build up as engine has only ran a few tanks of fuel from new .....I think the 3 month lay up period was the curlprit , brought the model out side and first time started running like a little clock !!

RE: YS115 wont start
tried everything on this engine ,put small amount of fuel in plug hole and then into carb still no pop! took rocker cover off ...bingo !!! valve stuck closed ....about 5mm clearance on tappet !!! does anyone have sugestions on how to fix this or does it have to be returned for service !

RE: YS115 wont start
Hi Petec thanks for the reply ....have taken the high needle out and turned over the engine but not a drip of fuel !! I took pump cover off and had a look........ the diaphram is hard like a hard plastic washer with a pimple on it ....... to obviously open the fuel inlet valve ........whole assembly is sealed with one "o" ring ...... any ideas now ?

YS115 wont start
My new YS 115 wont start, had a few flights with it about three months ago ,brought it out today and all is quiet ! fuel dosnt seem to be getting to the engine........... ,when feed line is pulled off at carb, fuel spurts out ........and the tank has loads of pressure when vent is opened. There dosn't seem to be much compression , also a lot of oil around the airbox and carb ,glow is fine ,OS 4 stoke plug ok ....am sure it is something simple but what .?thanks in advance for any ideas .
