RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
I like the price and specs on the Accucel-6..but alas I don't always like having no AC input..I like to charge at home also. This means either buying a battery or a powersupply to run that charger..the DuraTrax Onyx 230 AC/DC operates both.

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
here is where I buy all my batteries.. www.hangtimes.com and if you need heavy ones to balance out the tail heavy su-26, go for the 3000 sanyo Nimh with dual hd leads.. if you go for A123, you will need an A123 capable charger. this is the charger I prefer, DuraTrax Onyx 230 AC/DC as it does my charging at the field and also at home..Charges 1-8 cell NiCd or NiMH (1.2 - 9.6V) cells and 1-3 cell LiPo, Li-Ion or LiFe (A123) (3.7 - 11.1V) cells. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTCK1&P=ML

approx 2 degrees right thrush.. for a bigger horsepower engine, i.e. 62-65cc you might want to make 2.5 degrees..as they can crank up more thrust with bigger props.

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
low rate ailerons 1-1/4" with 40% expo elevator 1" with 40% expo rudder approx 70% of max throw with 40% expo high rate ailerons approx 90% max throw with 60% expo elevator approx 80% of max throw..with 60% expo rudder max throw with 60% expo (These are extreme throws and should only be used by those accomplished in 3d flight/control) for IMAC sequence, the low rate is tame, but I do keep my rudder on high rate at most all times. throttle - curve set to make throttle stick at 50% to equal approx half rpm of engine (3500 rpm) DA-50. This is done on my JR9303. (note: The DX-7 cannot set throttle curves on aircraft, only heli).

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
I use a 3 1/2 for my 50cc and 4" for my 80cc. I also prefer the DaveBrown (chief Aircraft) for around $28. You can spend over $150 on a tru-turn..but I don't believe that a spinner should cost as much as the plane!! I also have bought from maxxprod.com and like there spinners alot. http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-11.html

Here is switches on the left and refueler on the right. I just make a filler wood panels for 2 of the existing slots..then built my own "right" size opening for switch.

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
Yes..since the designers of the arf had no foresight on leaving any blank area for the switches and making the numberous slots the wrong size for almost any switch on the market, I found the easiest way was just make a plate in convenient area and mount switches there. I did mine slightly behind the cowl.

no..I used hardware that I trust..Nelson hobbies ball links and airwild arms. hs-5955tg servos. Carbon fiber tailwheel, titanium axles with double collars. Dual 4200 NIMH batteries with HD JR switches, hd leads to JR9100. I can alway use the su-26 hardware on some cheaper nitro plane. bobzilla

I think Talon58..if you read this thread..you are quite spot on what you said. The thread hopefully educates some potential buyers to beware and also maybe to show/suggest some alternatives. Wildhare has some awesome planes and usually some goods buys under $500.

big time power..but expensive at $735 (engine w/muffler +tax/shipping). we have 2 at our field..and the autochoke never worked right... I would rather invest in a DA-85. Almost any 50cc engine (5 to 5.5hp) will fly most all 30% planes fine.

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
EastRC seems to sell almost everything at FULL RETAIL price..they have no idea that us hobbiest/flyers are the "Carnivores of Good Deals" and certainly would be comparing prices/features to similar planes from other manufactures.. Too bad NitroPlanes has the spec reversed on that plane..as I'm sure it would generate more sales if listed correctly.

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
we have had this Nitroplanes yak at our field and it flew great with a 45cc. It is a smaller plane...then then su-26 (81" vs 87.5 wingspan) I think a da-50/dl-50 would be a good fit and quite 3d capable.

If you do some research on other true 50cc planes..not reactor 45cc/1.60size, you will find almost all only require one servo per wing of 250-400oz.. What makes the reactor need 4 servos is beyond me!

sd-models now carried as TOC series at www.acehobby.com I don't know about spares..but I do think that both chief and troybuilt are getting out of the sd-models business. Troybuild carries a new line called MagicHand. I think chief carries whatever they can get their hands on cheap.

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
If you really really read the whole thread..you would see that already figured out... they put the wings too far forward by about 1 inch. This makes the plane tail heavy from the get-go. If you look at at pics of first couple pages..the rudder tray is built in already in middle of hatch. We have discussed about moving the elevators servos and possible ways to work (pull-pull elevator?). I have measured a the Lanier Yak 30% same length and my toc30%, both same length as su-26, but the su-26 wing is more forward. Here are some factory specs..of other arf..and you will notice that the su-26 has one of the least Wing Area for similar size..but Nitroplanes lists the arf capable of an 85cc engine..now that I find hard to believe would be a good flyer!! I think marketing is jumping the gun at NitroPlanes, trying to tell us this plane is an 85cc plane..when in fact is clearly NOT! This also has the WEAKEST motor box I have ever seen in any of my 30% planes. Do what ever you can to get weight up front..on this arf.

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
FROMECO receiver packs must be charged with a lithium charger set to "2 series" or "7.4 volts" After charging, FROMECO receiver packs must not exceed 8.4 volts Charge FROMECO receiver packs at a rate not to exceed 1C. Use a lower rate (0.5 to 0.8) for longest life. FROMECO packs should be charged at temperatures above 50F (10C) Do not store lithium packs at temperatures above 140F (60C), because cells may degrade. Read below link to learn more about intial charging and conditioning new NIMH or NICad batteries. http://hangtimes.com/rcbattery_faq.html If you only have a wall charger at 50mah..a 3800mah battery would take about 36 hours to charge I do my "formation" charging at about 400mah on my new NIMH batteries twice..before I put NIMH battery in service. I do my quick field charge (top off) if needed with my triton at 1amp.
