RE: 1st attempt at aerial video with Raptor 60 Nitro Heli
Very nice flying indeed! How come there's not nitro smoke visible in the vid?

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
Good for you e Heli. That's quite a feat. I tried flipping my 36 once - one of the links came off and the head exploded into many many pieces. [&:] I still have most of my 36 CNC parts. Maybe one day I'll rebuild it just for giggles. BB

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
Yes definitely still flying. I've gone into bigger birds and aerial photography. Still doing tons of mods - unfortunately no time to post them. The 36 has been put to rest. The swash control (mCCPM) is just not up to the job, especially if you're doing aerobatics. I swapped the whole swash + head from the Trex 450, and never looked back. Unfortunately, helifreak (link above) deleted that mod. What a waste. Cheers, BB

Wow. This is an old thread. [:D] Anyway, the 401 has worked for me since the very beginning, and still has 3 years later. Probably the best investment I made, electronics wise. Cheers.

RE: DF36 eCCPM Conversion
I started with the 36, but finally ended up with a Shogun. They are both basically the same heli. I finally moded it to CCPM. Here's the link: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=604806&highlight=shogun+ccpm+borneobear I'm still flying the same heli, one year on. Does 3D, no problem. Lots of work, but the satisfaction is priceless. Good luck. borne

RE: Walkera 36 upgrades for sale
Hi Soneebee!!! Yes it has been a long long time. My blinged out 36 is now a shogun with Trex CCPM head. Its flying fantastic. I'm learning basic 3D now. Wish I changed to CCPM earlier. [;)] I also got myself a Century Swift - 30 size electric heli. Its FANTASTIC!! Cheapheli?? He called me a few months ago, and said his wife doesn't allow him to go out much since the accident. And last week I saw him posting his #60 in the local "For Sale" site. I think thats the end of his flying days... http://www.i-putra.com.my/community/discussion/dsc_message.cfm?page=1&roomid=18&threadid=3609 You take care of yourself. And beware of the vendor Speedstick.

RE: WALKERA 60
Hi Soneebee, I got a call from CheapHeli- remember him? The forum member with the Carbon Fibre frame for the 60 - well he first had apendics and had to rest for a while (no flying). Well, turned out he had a very bad car accident after that. He survived the crash and is now on 6 months rest. He called me yesterday, and wanted to me to tell you that he still wants to be an active heliman and will return here upon his recovery. The guy is half dead on a hospital bed and he still wants to fly. Put things into perspective -some guys give up just cuz they broke a heli blade. [8|]

It is therefore, with a heavy heart, I boot myself out of here, and place a thread at some obscure and extremely unpopular place at helifreak.com on the mods of the Shogun frame and one Walkera part: http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?p=186180#186180 I wish you all happy flying and good luck - it has been a blast.

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
Anyway, getting over the dissapointment was quick (but not easy). The above parts came on Wednesday. Two weeks earlier, I had pastered Jeff to sell me the other parts for the Shogun V2 frame, and finally he relanted. He sold me these parts well below the complete set price, and they arrived two days after the above (Friday). So that Saturday night, when all seemed dark and gloomy, I realized that it was time to put the Walkera behind me, and move on to the Shogun frame.

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
What a huge mistake. Upon spool up - (and mind you I did this after I had set up the heli completely - another half a day's work!) - I could see tiny dust starting to fly from the motor area. Upon inspection, I could see the motor was eating away at my brand new main gear! Oh horror! So I had to dismantle the whole heli, and re-do the whole process. I re-sealed the holes I drilled, made new ones - and eye balled the alignment again. I did this 4 times, each time drilling new holes, or making them larger. ALL FAILED By late saturday night, I surrendered and said my farewells to my frame. [&:]

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
There was no other way. The plastic spacers were in the way of the mounts and, well, being over confident that I could align the motor to the main gear perfectly, I filed them completely off: The motor mount screw holes was then drilled onto the frame (yellow arrow) with no other referance other than me eye-balling the motor pinion being straight with the main gear.

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
This is how they mounted, after half a saturday's work of hacking off and flattening the front portion of the frame. Everything at the front had to go, including the stock frame plastic spacers that I had originally used as guides for my earlier motor mount.

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
Here goes [8|]: I got these CNC Shogun V2 servo and motor mount from XMSELLER (of eBay). Jeff was kind enough to sell them to me separate from the kit ( - I seriously don't think anyone else gives this kind of servise). Well hey ho!! I was happy as hell. Another cool upgrade.

RE: Ultimate #36 Mod Thread (& Shogun Parts)
Well its been a while. Not that I haven't been doing anything - the problem is (was) I got too cocky with the mods. I was so sure that I could mod everything, and it would turn out great. Well, here's one that didn't. And it has led to the painful destruction of my one and only frame.

RE: WACKED CANOPY FIX (sorry only pictures)
ORIGINAL: drtmind01 lets strat by saying. I hate you, your too smart and can fix anything lol. omg i saw the threat on how you made it now i see how u fixed it.
I was gonna be quiet - but c'mon don't hate me. [:)] There's nothing smart here. I use CA throughout (okay, maybe a little epoxy) + CA powder (from my other file jobs), and fibreglass cloth (get from any hobby shop). File joined canopy back to shape (and get more CA powder) and sandpaper to smoothen, then paint! Takes half a day to do (mainly waiting for glue to harden) and you save a bunch of bucks (to buy upgrades).

RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
ORIGINAL: nuhelo what type of modding did you have to do and do you have picks? did you switch out your pinions so that the teeth would meet properly or is 12 teeth nothing to worry about. thanks for the fast response.
The mods to put is a Trex gear is extensive, post 28 onwards: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4365788/mpage_2/key_/tm.htm I have shifted to a shogun V2 frame and modded it to also except the Trex main gear - will update the above thread shortly. The work as tedious but its well worth it. The motor pinion groove size for the Trex, 36, Zoom, Zap and Shoguns are all the same, so you can interchange according to your motor torque, kv, etc. Pinions can go as low as 8T (wobble) to as high as 14T (insane).
