RE: What's on your building table or next in line?
My next build is a Senior Telemaster 95 inch wing, power will be a gas 23 cc, and the plane will be covered with 2.3 mill calendered vinyl to add some weight so it has less float at landing. Ken

Thanks rsad but I have to many things going on at this time to start another plane. Dumorian, you start flying off water and you will have a hard time ever putting wheels on a plane again. Ken

No rmadsen my garage is not a hanger, my drive is 300 feet long with corn fields across the road, I also have a 300 x 200 foot pond that I fly off that is on the back side of my garage. Ken

RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
Dumorian you are moving right along with yours, nice job. Warbird2 nice set up on your tail wheel. I think I have the same tail wheel on mine. I am hooking mine up to the rudder like the full size decathlon. I got my wing done, it ended up being a one piece wing did not like the crack in the center. I fly off my driveway so I don't have to transport it to a field. I went all 1/4 scale servo's, 1 for the rudder, 1 for the elevators, made up my own spliter, and 1 for each aileron. Hi torque, no stress. KEN

I started to do the sheeting on my right wing, boy did I get a bad bunch of bad sheeding wood. Hope I have some on hand to work with. The rest of the wood in the kit was fine. Ken

Well I got my fire wall and engine mount done, had to make a 1-3/4" stand-off. I made a fire wall out of ply don't like light ply for a fire wall. Been looking at making mine like the 8GCBC decathlon scout with tundra tires, there was another model of this plane that had a bigger wing span and flaps for landing in the bush. Ken

Nice work rmadsen. You are way ahead of me but I am old and slow now days. I am working on the fire wall and with the engine I am using a 32cc gaser and I need to box it out 1 3/8 off the fire wall, so I am dealing with how to box it right now. I like this build, been good reading and fun. Ken

RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
Steve nice job good to see you moving right along. Another thing you can do to add support to your fire wall is to drill some 1/16 holes in the side of the fuse into the fire wall and drive in a round tooth pick into the hole add some thin C A. I do this on all of mine. I got my horizontal stabilizer done, I did not want to do the laminated thing so I made the elevator out of balsa and added lighting holes to it. Will post some pictures later. I am going to run a 32.6 CC duropower engine on mine. Keep up the good work. Ken

Yes it is the type used for truck signs, but you have to use the right kind. Calendered vinyl is what you would use. The other type is Cast vinyl. Ken

RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
I like flaps too, anyone know why the full size Decathlon did not have flaps? I also will use a pull- pull system on the rudder and that tail wheel has to go. I will mount all my drive gear for the rear controls in th tail of the plane, I don't like long push rods. Ken

Mike, it is not like the films. I could cut you off a little and mail it to you, e-mail me your address. Some guys like some don't. I like it because it easy to use and strong, adds a little weight so I add a little more engine. Ken

RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
Hi Mike sorry I took so long to get back to you. Vinyl is what came on a lot of ARF planes when they first came out. It is self-adhesive so you only need a heat gun to tighten it up. It comes in many colors. I buy 10 yd. x 24" rolls for $18. Ken

RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
Come on guys don't let this build die. I started to build my today. I am going to cover mine with vinyl, very low cost cover and tuff. I am going to make mine a bush plane with them big tires. Here on the farm there is no telling what we will be taking off on, some times high grass and some times we just go out on the dirt road. I will be putting a 41cc up front for power, maybe I will put a big-o set of 5" air tires on her feet. Ken

Ryan trimmer engine
I got an old Ryan trimmer engine the other day. Know markings on the engine it came off a model 285. It has a stamped rod and counter balance, rear carb, short shaft. I think it is a old 28cc. Were any of these engines used for flying, if so how did they work out.
