RE: Warbirds Over Delaware 2012
ORIGINAL: warbirdfan2 Yeah... I Just started this job back in march, after being laid off from BAE for 9 mounths , and they work a 24/7 shedule. My brothers employer also started this same program in FEB, and we are on the same weekend shedule, so we can only make it on THURSDAY. ShUCKS!!!! Looks like not much in the way of food either??? How about Pilots/planes? WE are coming down from PA.
The Boy Scouts will be serving lunch, and most likely breakfast as well, on Thursday. While our big spectator days are Friday & Saturdays, Thursday has been a great day at WOD for the last couple of years, even though only about 60 - 70% of the pilots are there that day. A lot of the SKS video footage is shot on Thursday, if that gives you any type of reference to the activity. This event keeps us moving all week long. So, I doubt anyone would/could be disappointed on any day. I was at the field last night and there was a camper there. I'll be back there tonight for the meeting, and like I said, I'm sure that there are WOD participants and vendors already there. Brian

Most vendors, but not all, will be in attendance on Thursday. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple of them there now.

RE: Warbirds Over Delaware 2012
We actually have more than 79 pre-registered pilots. I took another last night, and then there are those who just don't pre-register.....rcpete2 and westwind two [:-] But, hey, I'll print your forms for ya! [:D] I've also noticed several pilots logging into the the database, but not clicking the "Register" button. I'm hoping that they don't think that just by logging in that they are registered. Oh well. We'll find out at the registration table. Of course, if anyone has input on our registration system, feel free to give input. There's many items on the list of things to improve and add, but it's something I've not had a lot of time to dedicate. Either way, we usually double our registered pilots at the event.

Hi Ken. In RC Airplanes >> RC Warbirds and Warplanes....the thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10889997/tm.htm Our event is next week. We're trying to keep all of the posts within the same thread, especially making it easy to find once people start posting pics. If this thread could be a sticky through July, that would be great. Thanks, Brian

RE: Warbirds Over Delaware 2012
Pilot pre-registration is now closed, of course you can still register at the event! Pilots who have pre-registered will have their pilot forms pre-printed at the registration desk. Weather forecasts are calling for cooler temps than the 90++ temps we've had here for the last 12 days. The forecast is calling for temps in the mid-80's with late afternoon isolated T-storms...which is typical for this area in the summer. Hello everyone. I've recently switched emails from my ISP that started having issues, but I failed to update the Pilot portal and pre-registration database with the new email address. So, if you've attempted to contact us via the pilot portal or database, or have pre-registered and have not yet received a confirmation or reply, please resend. Emails to info@delawarerc.org are now functional. Sorry for the inconvenience. Best, Brian

RE: Builder wanted
Hi Ed. I am also a member of First State R/C, since 1997, and Delaware R/C since 1999. We're getting ready for our Warbirds Over Delaware event in July. I've been a member of Delaware County R/C since 1984 and the Secretary of the Club since 1986. For some reason, I do recall your name. Not sure when you left First State and Delaware R/C. Thanks Larry for the words of encouragement. I'm sure things will be back to normal soon. I'm just impatient. For Pattern Pilot: I told you that I was Santa! RE: Builder wanted
Thanks again for the replies, everyone. I believe that I'm going to take a week off from work and finish the two projects currently on my bench. A little "TFB" (Time For Brian) I probably only have about 20 hours to finish them both. But, 20 hours of working in the shop would take 4 or 5 months with everything I have on my plate. It's been 25+ years since I built a Chaos, and I was really looking forward to the kit. So, I think I'll get to it sometime this summer. And, I can't find my Santa pictures. Sorry. [:(]

RE: Builder wanted
Who told you I was Santa? (I'll upload a pic later tonight) [;)] What I need is my life to return to normal. Being an executor to an estate has been "not fun". I was busy enough trying to balance my own family life and work schedules. My dog even hates me now. [&o] My storage unit is packed. My work shop went from 800 sq ft down to about 100 sq ft. I can't even fall down now without hitting my head. Oh, woe is me. Anyways, it's not critical that I get the Chaos built. I have an Intruder and a Javelin to get me through. Best, Brian

Builder wanted
Hello all. I am searching for a builder, experienced in Bridi kits. I'm clearing out an estate and my shop is jammed packed, and I have two projects on the workbench, one arf and one kit, which is preventing me from meeting my building goals for the past winter. I have several Bridi kits, from BlueJay Airplane kits, new in the box. But, I want my Utter Chaos 40 built for the upcoming flying season. Probably the simplest of the kits to build, but I just don't have the time or the space. I'm just looking for framing service. So, if you build, or can suggest someone, please contact me. I'm in north Delaware, but have no problem shipping. Best, Brian

RE: Warbirds Over Delaware 2012
Hello everyone. As we rapidly approach July, we are receiving many emails inquiring about hotels in the area. I've reached out to several hotels, but was disappointed in the responses. Of the responses I received, most weren't deals at all, and mostly quoting the price that was available online. Other responses were basically that they don't give quotes based on solicitation. The best I can suggest is that you visit the following [link=http://www.hotels.com/search.do?destination=19708]local hotels[/link] link for local hotels and their offerings. Also, many are inquiring as to what hotels most of the pilots are staying in. So, if you don't mind making this public information, feel free to post your lodging choice. Lastly, due to my ISP and cable provider not being able to resolve an issue, I will be switching providers in a couple of weeks. I will send out an email notice on the Warbirds Over Delaware Yahoo eGroup. If you are not a subscriber, feel free to subscribe at http://delawarerc.org/warbirds.htm just above the vendor/sponsor logos. This is an announcement only email list. See you in July! We've ordered great weather! Best, Brian

RE: security at the field
Whoops, I've just re-read your post, and with a fridge, I guess you do have commercial power. Why not invest in a digital DVR camera system and a motion sensor flood light? This should deter most people.

RE: security at the field
I'm guessing that you don't have commercial power or internet at the site. This is the situation that we've had at one of my flying sites. We've had problems with illegal dumpers, as well as some light vandalism at our site. I have a solar powered weather station that reports via APRS using ham radio at my flying site. The station has been vandalized twice over the last 3 years. Now, hold on to your hats everyone.....here's all we did....and it seemed to have stopped the issues. I bought a couple of [link=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004D8NZ52]fake security cameras[/link]. They have a blinking led, and it fooled most of the members in the club. Mounted up high, it's almost impossible to tell. I have coax running out of the camera and into the weather-proof box that holds the electronics for the weather station. RE: Man is Arrested for attempted Attack!
ORIGINAL: Sport_Pilot Why does anyone believe anything the Media says?
For the most part, people are stupid. We don't (or can't) think for ourselves. We need someone to tell us how things are. Most of our laws and the freedoms that we lose everyday are decided by ill-informed people. But, these same people think they know what's going on (because 'someone said so') and what is best for everyone else. America needs to wake up and we need to start thinking for ourselves. Until then, things are going to get much worse.

RE: Man is Arrested for attempted Attack!
The AMA should put out a press release correcting the news media's erroneous statements and asking all Clubs with a website post the AMA information so that the general public, when they do an internet search, will be flooded with pro-R/C and correct information regarding our hobby.
