RE: Brushless Pinion Issue
It's a exceed buggy. Very similar set up to the redact exp. when I mess the years usually use a piece of paper to get the first adjustment. After that by feel and tone of the gears running. Hoping these harden gears will work. We shall see! Thanks for the help.

Brushless Pinion Issue
Have a small issue of tearing up pinions on my brushless motor. I recently installed a 3950KV brushless motor in my buggy. The buggy has a harden aluminum 48 Pitch 64 tooth spur gear. I use some nickel plated pinions which lasted a full 30 seconds. I bought some Robinson Racing Harden Brushless Pinion, but did not read all and found out they were for 5mm shafts. My motor shaft is 1/8 inch. Bought the adapter and tore a gear up immediately, to me it look like when I tighten down the set screw it would angle the pinion some. Did not look like a true mess. Now I just ordered some Robison Racing Super Hard "Absolute" Pinions 48 pitch to see if this would work. I have two other brushless cars and trucks with smaller KV motors and have no issues with the pinions that are in them. They are steel I believe(no brand name on pinion). Looking for any suggestions on good pinions to buy to mess up to a harden aluminum or steel gear?? I am currently building this buggy to a dirt oval car so will need some speed!! :)

RE: Volcano EXP PRO
A great up grade is to covert to Traxxas shocks. Do away with the eight shock set up and go to using just four shock set up. I did this and it handles alot better. My son has one and we are running the Trunigy nano-tech batteries. He is running the 50c-90c 2s 4000mah. And it will last longer than 2 tanks on my nitro Volcano. I do agree though it is alot faster and and had to turn his down some so he could handle it. Great little truck for the price though. Two things I keep in stock in the tool box, stub axles and dog bones. My son seems to bend the dog bones and break the stub shafts all the time. Any time I order upgrades or parts. I order set of those

RE: Dirt oval Tire Question
Track is very new. We have a off road track but a lot of interest in the dirt oval came about once we started working on it. Not sure yet on how it will end up being prepared, have not had a race on it yet. probably will play it safe and run some low profile off road tires. Yeah i am real curious to see how the brushless is going to work, might end up building some sort of wheelie bar to keep the front on the ground. I know plan on weighting the left side some to help in the turns. Any advice on set ups will help also thanks

Dirt oval Tire Question
i am kinda new to the dirt oval. I am building a late model out of a 1/10th scale 4wd buggy. I ahve my chassis and set up going good, but question on tires. I see some people running foams and some have buggy type tire. Which would be the best to go with? looking for thoughts and ideas thanks. this will be a Brushless Electric car.

RE: Volcano Sandrail
You plain this being a nitro truck? If so the Volcano S30 should hold up. I have a .21 in my Volcano S30 with good grip tires on the rear adn have had no issues with the rear diff at all. I have run, I know a gallon a fuel through it. I did start to see alot of slack in the front diff between the ring and pinion and changed them as precaution. I run this truck hard. Had very little issues. With the new shock set up the truck lands alot better.

RE: ESC Light Stays Red/
Yes. I have programmed this ESC once before when I had to change the LVP. But now when u turn it on u can hear a slight hum/whin and u cannot turn the center driveline? I used the same steps to try and program it but no luck. The motor is running around 120 when it shuts off?? When the truck is off the motor runs freely. I have also tried to calibrate the ESC to the radio with no luck their either. I have tried two different radio and receivers with same affect?

ESC Light Stays Red/
My sons Exceed Monster truck has EZ-run s10 ESC in it. When you turn the truck on it turns red. It will go forward but will not go in Reverse. It acts like it is keeping the brake on at all times. I can throttle it forward and it will turn green, but as soon as I let it come back to the neutral position the motor breaks and the light turns green. I have tried several time to program it, with out luck. I am thinkng the ESC is Fried. Tried using a different radio and reciever and it did the samething. Anyone else had this issue? Just FYI I noticed this recently when the trucl would not go into reverse and the truck was shutting off with the motor extremely hot to the touch

RE: Avalanche xte
Guess that is why it is called a Hobby!!!:) Just run them pray you don't have to repair them. But I agree, I have had Traxxas, 1/8 ofna buggy and now the Redcat Volcano. If i can get 12 tanks without tearing something up i am happy. Between my sons truck and mine...the pocket book keeps digging deeper..[&:]

RE: Traxxas Shocks on Volcano S30
Yes they will work. I have some pictures but cannot get them to post. My son has Exceed Monster truck which is identical to the Volcano EXP . There is some differnece in the suspension, but will work. I am using the Nitro Stampede Rear shocks all the way around. I noticed with the old shocks my truck would bounce after it jumped(shocks bottoming out) but after installing these shocks it lands good. The traxxas shocks are longer and bigger bore. Should work fine

RE: Traxxas Shocks on Volcano S30
I agree on the straightening. i am constantly straightening my sons out. Just something I decided to try when I installed the .21 in mine and had to use the single shocks on the rear. So i ordered another set to put back on my Stampede, than realize that the front of the truck seemed to have shorter travel on the shocks. Used the shocks I ordered on the front and found out how much better the truck handled!! I have a couple pictures will try and post tomorrow. I launched this truck over 6 feet in the air and had no issues with the land.

Traxxas Shocks on Volcano S30
I have installed Shocks from a Traxxas Stampede and have notice alot better handling. The XX-long shocks(rear shocks on a Nitro Stampede) have alot more travel than the stock ones. SO instead of having two shocks per corner I just have one. It jumps better and lands better. Few improvements that I have found you can do.

RE: volcano with trx3.3 upgrade
I like the way it handles with these shocks on the back. Its balanced pretty good right now. I am running a 18T bell. I can almost turn it on a dime and it will pick up th inside wheel when I gas on it. I have another set of shocks which i am going to try on the front and see if I can get this thing balanced real good. We have a local track so trying to get it tuned in to race. I looked at going bigger but could not find a tank I liked that was the right dimensions, trying to keep as much as the stock look as possible. Here are the updated pictures with the tank in. Only other thing i have done is upgrade the steering servo to a 9kg servo and installed a piece of aluminum on my servo saver so the truck will steer better. Yes I know i could of gone to the aluminum servo saver but I liked this better;)

RE: Which Redcat?
I heard that about NitroRC. But I look at it this way u pay for what you get;). I have had to replace a couple dog bones and upgraded the pinion and diff gear in it. Ordered all the parts through Redcat and they fit fine. Did a lot of research before I bought his and found that the Redcat was the same not found any parts difference so far.

RE: Which Redcat?
I have a redcat volcano S30, which i really like. I have added a .21 engine to it. If your looking for inexpensive R/C cars and trucks check out this website http://www.nitrorcx.com/ I got my sone one of the Exceed Infinitive monster trucks. It is built identincal to the Volcano EPX. The one I got was a brushless truck, and other than the norm of the front pinion and steering knuckles the truck has been flawless. Its a few dollars cheaper and all the parts from the Volcano EPX will fit it. We are running a Lip 2S 4000mah in it and it is freaking FAST!!! I have turned it way down just so he can run it with out wrecking. Here is couple pictures. His is the green one.

RE: volcano with trx3.3 upgrade
Thats a cool truck set up you have. I have a Volcano S30 also. With a GS.21 in it. Bought a used .21 engine and installed it on mine. Finally was able to order a new bell pinion for it to get a better gear in it. I changed out the rear shocks to Traxxas Stampedee rear shock on mine. Only cause the pipe i have on it was right where the shock was. Only other bad thing was it burns through the fuel really fast. My sons electric truck which out last mine. I order a 100cc tank that is from HPI and am in the process of putting it back together. Will have get some pics up later.
