RE: What happened to
I heard from a fellow local flyer that he opened up in Newcastle. Maybe that's where Jim opened his? If I figure out anymore I'll post it.

What happened to "The Realm"?
Hey guys, I have been on an RC plane sabatical for a while but still got all my stuff. Coaching t-ball and church activities with the kids have taken priority and lots of "hobby" time away, lol. I was gonna sell a couple of my more advanced planes since I don't keep up the practice and noticed that The Realm of Hobbies and Games is closed in Moore, OK. I know RCKen used it and a few others here did too. I was gonna hang them up there for sale but can't and was just wondering if anyone knew what happened?

RE: What happened to my retract servo?
I was wrong about the servo brand. It's this one. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=JSP20080 It doesn't show specs for 6V, do you think there might be a problem using a 6V battery?

RE: What happened to my retract servo?
Yeah I stripped a gear. It still works but has a bit of slip wher the teeth are stripped in a small section. I think I messed it up because I had the retainers at the outermost ends of the arm and it wasn't going a full 180 degrees to stop.

RE: What happened to my retract servo?
ORIGINAL: oldvet70 Well Brett the good thing about mechanical retracts is that they either work or they don't. But they still require attention. Have you figured it out yet?
I'll have to look at it when I get home from work. First thing on my to do list.

Are 4 strokes more likely to grenade like that than 2 strokes? It seems like I've seen more fragged 4 strokes than 2 strokes.

RE: OS 55 AX dead sticks
ORIGINAL: bigdanusa I started with a 12-6 prop on my 55ax with a pitts muffler on my new phoenix extra 300s and it dead sticked on me the first 2 flights and ran awful. I switched to a 11-7 and ran great the next 78 flights with no dead sticks. big dan
It's not the prop, I had the exact same setup. The engine ran fine but not enough thrust for the plane. With the 12x4 she has unlimited vertical now.

What happened to my retract servo?
I was checking everything once again and all of a sudden when I lowered the gear, the servo kept running. It still goes up and down just fine but it keep running when it drops the gear as if it is stripped. What's the deal? I haven't had a chance to remove it and look at it yet. I had one guy tell me not to run it with a 6V battery but nobody else said anything. Its a hobbico piece. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPB42&P=ML

RE: OS 55 AX dead sticks
ORIGINAL: w8ye Run a 11 X 6 on the engine and let it breathe a little.
That's too little prop for a large airplane such as the dc. That may work on a small fast plane but I wouldn't recommend it. I do think the 13x6 is too big as well though. The 12x4 or 13x4 would probably be the best for that combo, but as always test them all.

RE: OS 55 AX dead sticks
If its the plug you broke it in with then it may need a new one. You'll be surprised the difference a plug will make. Pull it and look at it. Hook the glow igniter up and see if the whole thing is glowing bright red or just a portion.

RE: Tx flap switch question
ORIGINAL: oldvet70 From Bax in the Futaba Forum: You can assign channel 5 or 7 to be operated with switch G, which is a 3-position switch on the 2.4 GHz FASST 7C transmitter. That will give you three flap positions: up, 1/2 down, full down.
Sweet, I didn't even think about plugging into channel 7 since I had the battery there. Can you tell this is my first plane over 4 channels?[:)]

Is it possible to put my flaps on a switch rather than the turn dial on my 7C? I would like to use the 3 position switch, but can't seem to figure out a way or find one in the manual. Thanks!

RE: Too pretty to maiden?
I think I was holding the tach too close, if I hold it at the recommended range the rpms drop. I tuned it from there to about 9200 and when I hold the plane straight up it continues to run just fine. I loosened my grip on it a bit and it tried to take off vertically.[X(] I think its making plenty of power!

RE: Too pretty to maiden?
ORIGINAL: jakesterama A plane in pieces that provided 5 minutes of fun is worth more than a plane in the rafters IMHO. Fly it! If you don't feel 100% get a smaller cheaper plane to boost you confidence! If it makes you feel any better I blindly put up a T-28D after 20 flights on the sim with no expo or DR on the 6i and it went just fine! Edit cause I can't speel
It's not so much my confidence level as it is just my personality. I have maidened every plane I own except my trainer. EDF jet, pz corsair, extra 300 (only my second plane), Skyraider mach 2, Seagull super decathlon, spad 13, corospad, and now this one I'll prolly hand over to ken.[:)] LGM makes me look like a weenie![:D]

RE: Kyosho Focke Wulf 50 size ARF Build Thread
Is the correct CG the one from the instructions or does it need changing? I have heard they fly like a low wing sport plane, is that true? Getting mine all setup for the maiden and want to be completely sure of everything.

it would screw up the covering on my focke wulf, but shouldn't hurt ultracote. Remember, its basically nail polish remover only stronger.

RE: Too pretty to maiden?
ORIGINAL: jimmyjames213 glad to see its in one piece again, how did the covering repairs turn out? i think ken is looking for a excuse to tell the boss (wife) that he needs to take a day off, while hes in ok city he will buy a few planes to save on ''gas money'' [:D][:D][:D][:D] heck might as well take up the offer, to get ken out of the house and at the field (and hobby shop), and if he smashes your plane you can tease him on the forums [:D][:D][:D]. if i was you i wouldnt fly the plane if you arnt comfortable with the engine, if it will hold a high idle i wouldnt worry about it (can always kill the engine on landing), but if it wont idle at all dont take the chance.
Here are the comparison pics in another thread of the fix. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9127603/anchors_9127603/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#9127603 I played with it some more and got it to idle pretty well. I think it was the LSN just needing some love.[:)] Gonna maiden it at my airfield, Baxter Field at Draper Lake. This weekend the weather is supposed to be cold and wet so it will have to atleast wait one more week. If anybody wants to come just pm me. I'll get in touch with you Ken.

You'll want a water rudder for sure if you ever want to fly it in less than ideal conditions. My water spot is usually like glass, but not always.

A couple 4 stroke set up questions
1. The drain nipple on the bottom of the engine is now on top because of the inverse mounting. How do I set that up? 2. How well do these engines prime without the use of the choke? The engine sits so far back that the linkage is blocked by the mount. I may drill a hole in it and run some flexible HSN cable from it. 3.It's for the focke wulf, so it has a large cowl. Do you guys cut the cowl so it will slip around the muffler or do you just put a hole in it and screw the muffler on if their is the access to it available? Thanks! She's almost ready for the maiden flight!
