glow plug ignitors..help!!
i got a glow plug ignitor from redcat with my volcano t2..just the plain one that u can see the battery on top of....hsp is the battery..its never worked right....it holds enough charge to start it maybe 3 times max...i charged it for 8 hours before using it it you are wondering... so i bought a new on from the same guy i got my truck from..sposed to be himoto with the meter on top and a new charger...i got it and it was a redcat with the meter.....same hsp battery as the other one but a prettier package...lol either the meter just doesnt work or it wont charge...the meter jumps sometimes if you move the end around but wont go up to the top of green..i havent tried to use it yet so i might work..but im doubting its charging cause the battery never gets warm.... the chargers are the same for both...the light doesnt come on on the first charger so the charger may be faulty..but i dont know..what do you guys think? how many starts do you usually get out of a ignitor before you have to charge them?

RE: Volcano t2
hey that was me with the oring problems....after several calls and emails i was able to send in my truck..they did me right...didnt charge me for certain parts then only half for the rest....BUT they didnt even fix it all the way after i taped a note to the specific broke part AND emailed them asking about it after they said it was all fixed...and they checked it and fixed more parts but NOT that part...lol they cut my antenna off too...in half..no clue why..but after i saw it wasnt completely fixed i called and they sent me out the parts no problem and no charge.. so my best advice is to CALL redcat..dont email them....call and ask for nick..he should help you out..as of now my t2 is up and running good after i replaced the rest of the parts..although i noticed its missing a nut on a piece they replaced and they messed up the header gasket or didnt put permatex or something back on it.....so i need to fix that too...... ..so im not too impressed with the tech that fixed mine up..but the price was good and the turn around was fairly quick good luck.

RE: what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
heres the email i got from them yesterday evening....... """Ok the tech came to me today with your truck completed. He tested the radio and was getting a messed up signal from it but said the tip of the antenna was missing so one he replaced it there was no more signal problems. He fixed all parts and the only thing that needs payment for it 01007, 62008, and 02044 He fixed the servo that was damaged in the crash with on that he had so there wont be a charge for it. He also put o-rings in the drive cups and made sure they aren't able to come out. Here is what the order total will be 01007 $4.99 (front arm plate) 62008 $4.99(brake pads and plates) 02044 $3.99 (spur gear) Total $13.97 Discount 50% $6.99 Shipping $12.00 Order total $18.99""""" BUT thats not all the parts that were cracked and broken...i know the front lower arm was cracked.(i stuck a tag on it and wrote a note so they wouldnt miss it).the dogbone in the front going from the body to the wheel was bent...and the fuel tank had a hole almost rubbed in it from the brake setup...and the engine? i couldnt make it do anything at all.. i emailed him back and told him all this so we will see..im not trying to be picky but i just want to make sure its all ready to go when i get it back...... the price to get it fixed is great..not complaining at all..just wondering what about the rest of it?... and the antenna wasnt missing the top piece when i sent it...do you think that would actually cause it to lose control???? i think the servo went crazy and caused the crash..not the other way around... what do you think?

RE: best after run oil?
i ordered a couple fuel filters and the hobbico and racers edge after run oil....they were both pretty cheap so i figured i'd use the racers edge on the traxxas and hobbico on the redcat and just see if there is any difference... ive seen people use the wd-40 on guns just as a general cleaner and oil to keep them from rusting and lubed up..it doesnt work too well....ive seen several rust spots after them using wd-40...thats just why i wouldnt use it in my rc engine...never tried it and it seems like some swear by it though so it must be okay

RE: Idle Adjusting Screw
im wondering what fuel he is using too....im glad i have basic knowledge of the adjustments from being a small engine mechanic...i'd be completely lost myself if i didnt undersand that... i hope hes not just using weedeater type fuel...would the nitro engines even start on 2 cycle mixed gas?

best after run oil?
ive been doing alot of looking on other forums on here and it seems like everyone has a different opionin on which is the best after run oil... on the video i got with my traxxas they say to use wd-40...im not going to do that because wd-40 draws moisture in..while its a good lube i dont think it fits this purpose... some people say just use marvel mystery oil or 2 cycle oil that you mix with the gas for use in weedeaters etc.. then there is the actual 'after run oils' hobbico and the others..what is your opinion on it?

RE: what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
thanks for your input chevyderek..but i never said it was a bad quality....just that maybe it as a faulty one from the factory...like he told me there were supposed to be red o rings in the couplers...and there WERENT...and yea im a beginner but im not a blithering idiot......how can their customer service be top notch is 1. i NEVER got a reply from the first warranty claim i emailed them. 2. it took over 48 hours and two phone calls to get a simple answer in what all and how i needed to send the truck in? ...i understand they are a company and they are busy...but i also know it takes about 30 seconds to reply to an email. when i first got my t2 i was excited and wanted a couple extra bodies..so i called and ordered them...the guy i talked to that day was nice and the service was top notch..inexpensive and fast shipping... i have to agree with lanslide bill...my car was just made on one of those days...just got a lemmony one.... and another thing chevyderek...if you were actually readin my posts instead of just picking out parts to be a .... about then you would have read that i was going to get another rc truck ANYWAYS... i dont think the extra money was for nothing either...the tmaxx is built way better than the volcano is..yes the price refects that but peace of mind is priceless.... i cant wait to get my t2 back...if i would have crashed it myself i woulda sucked it up and replaced the parts..i wouldnt have cared what it 'costed' i think the servo or servos went haywire..ive read tons of stuff on here about the stock ones being crappy......

RE: what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
lol i already got a traxxas tmaxx 3.3 after all the problems i had with the redcat and the support...i just couldnt wait and i was wanting 2 anyways. i was planning on waiting. but decided to just go ahead and get a second one...the weather here has been total crap so i havent even been able to break it in yet, just look at it since monday morning... from the looks of it, it is way better built than the volcano.....i hope they get the volcano fixed for me (just sent it off after calling a second time today) it was a blast to drive... and from the specs it will go faster than the tmaxx... a buddy of mine at work has a the tmaxx 3.3 and he is rough rough rough with it...doesnt do very good maintenance or antyhing and it seems to take a licking and keep on ticking...im not planning on doin what all he does with his but its nice to know its possible...

RE: what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
well it doesnt 'look' bad...theres not much to look bad on it..just by looking at it things look ok other than front arm bar holder being busted..i have the drive shaft in there and i did adjust it..so it was in there when it crashed...i know i could replace the broken arms etc on the front that got bent or cracked but since it wont start and it still just sits there and twitters and jitters with the electronics turned on i have no clue where to start other than replacing both servos etc...plus the engine now.. i'll still take a pic of it and put it on here but i dont think that will be of much use...most of my serious problems now is the running of it...or lack thereof...i'll get a pic of it up for u tho....

RE: what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
here is the reply i just recieved from redcat """I am very sorry to hear about all of your troubles. The volcano line is a very solid unit and rarely has any trouble. The front drive cups should have little red o-rings in them to center the dog bones in the cups. Perhaps yours fell out or didn't have them. IF you still have the dog bone i can send you the o-rings to put in the drive cups. I am not sure what would cause the break disc to wallow out but I will send you another set of breaks. For the radio issue sounds like there was some radio interference or something like that since you used the truck a few times before the crash i don't thing the radio is bad. I can take 50% off of any parts needed to repair your truck, and if you would like you can send the truck in and I will have the tech go threw it and repair it for you and I can just get a hold of you for payment for parts. That way we can make sure that it is back in proper working order when you get it back.""" im kinda afraid to send it in for repairs because of cost...but if they get it they may just decide to send a whole new one? heres to hoping.... and the little red o rings he was talking about..i never saw them so either they got lost the first time it fell out or they were just not installed...and thats why it fell out.. i dont know..but i told him i wanted to just send it in so it could be gone through by a tech since i had no clue what caused the prob in the first place..

RE: what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
yep the shafts are basically the same..i dont know if someone maybe installed the wrong one in the front drive shaft place from the factory? the back one fits in pretty snug. and yea the brake assembly is in front of the trans between the steering servo and gas tank.. im planning on calling today to see if i can find out anything..im not a very patient waiter especially when i submitted the first warranty claim over a week ago with no reply

RE: what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
the drive shaft from trans to the front..i think they call them dog bones on the parts list? ...it seems like its a hair too short..so if you put what i would call the couplers that the ends fit into, all the way on where they are supposed to go the drive shaft is just super loose so it just falls out....when i tried moving the coupler on the trans shaft that also has the brake disc on it foward to make it tighter on the driveshaft the coupler and the shaft kept falling out.... i thought the same thing about something with the same frequency causing interferance but i played with it in the same area all week and had had no problems with that aspect of it? as far as i know there was nothing that couple be would of cause interferance with it but im not positive what all could actually interfere with it......lol i think the t2's are built a little differently than the sv's....the breakdowns arent the same...not sure what all is different though. i dont think the chassis getting bent interfered with any thing really all that is bent on it is the very front corner so it just makes the bumper cockeyed a small bit.. im pretty sure the high pitched noise was the engine...if it wasnt i couldnt hear the engine over it..im almost positive it was the engine....the throttle was at the fullest speed it could go..like if a governor goes out on a mower or something (im a small engine mechanic..mowers and weedeaters and such) i dont know much at all about the rc's though....the motor turns over..its not locked up at all...it seems to have okay compression but just wont fire off... i want to get into and look at the cylinder sleeve just to see but im waiting on word from redcat about warranty before i get into it.. i think the brake disc was just cut a little off at the factory.... when you asked about the noise maybe being the flywheel rubbing on the brake shoe mounting screw it reminded me that that is another problem ive had with this dang tuck!! that mounting screw and plate has been rubbing up agains the gas tank and has almost rubbed a hole in it... i emailed redcat a week ago about this and ive tried calling but no answer to either...i just resubmitted another warranty claim today..we will see...

what do you all think? faulty volcano t2
i just got a volcano t2 2 weeks ago monday...it was dead by the first friday....i followed all the instructions about threadlocking and the breakin etc...it was okay but the front drive shaft has never stayed in right...ive only toppled the truck once.ive been very careful with it the whole time...ive been puttin the drive shaft back in and fixing it more than ive been playing with it! the brake disk was wallowed out from the factory and its never had brakes because the coupler just spins in the disc..the engine was running great..last friday it was acting glitchy going full speed by itself when i was driving it etc...so i changed all the batteries in it..i was just running it around my front yard so it was maybe a 10 foot radius that i was driving it in...i put duracell batteries in it and started it up..i drove it around for a minute and it just went crazy and ran full throttle into a concrete porch...its now basically totalled.. the front end is all messed up..it bent a couple of the rods..broke the front arm holder. bent the bottom plate chassis that everything is bolted to...messed up the bumper...and when it did this the engine started making a high pitched noise and i cant get it to start again so im assuming its fried too...and in doing all that it stripped the spur gear too in a spot...both servos twitch and humwhen i turn the switches on.....im not happy at all with this truck and i think it was defective.. ive emailed the redcat warranty and they havent emailed me back..ive called and left messages and they wont call me back... what do you all think?
