making 2.2's fit a MLST?
i have the Hot Racing 1/10th adapters for the MLST and i hoping to get some HPI 2.2's to fit but i they don't leave enough axle to thread on the nut. what else can i try? i really want to get some 1/10th wheels to fit. are there any types of nuts available that will thread into the wheel?(there is a gape between the axle and the hole in the wheel) help

RE: ESC to Motor Connection, can i do this?
so the 3pin will sustain the current required and won't overheat? because they would be a lot more tidy than the ultras!

RE: ESC to Motor Connection, can i do this?
my mamba esc came with the female ends of the bullet type connector, i think 3.5mm. the male connections weren't shipped but were supposed to be included. i have 2 of the male deans ultra connectors (i am going to cut one in half) and i have 1 female connection from the stock 6 cell battery so i need 1 more i do have the 3pin deans ready to go

RE: ESC to Motor Connection, can i do this?
only problem with that is if i want to take only one item out i need to desolder it and i don't want to do that will the 3pin support the current?

ESC to Motor Connection, can i do this?
the Motor i bought didn't come with the bullet type connector (it was supposed too) and i don't want to wait another week or 2 to get them so i can run my truck. so here is what i am thinking. Motor is a YC22 and ESC is a Mamba 25. LHS doesn't have any in stock 1. Use a Dean's 3 pin micro connector, the connections look about as big as the wiring going into my motor, and are solid, just unsure of amp rating. this is the method i would prefer but am unsure if it will overheat or not 2. use some Deans's Ultra Plugs, only problem is i don't have enough female ones and really don't want to go spend another 6.00 just for 1 plug

RE: MLST ESC fried!
bump? i see the Mamba 25 now supports brushed? that could possibly work if it will support 2 brushed motors for now until i can drop the rest of the money on a BL motor? otherwise i am going to get into a Cobalt, but still need a new ESC

MLST ESC fried!
it has been giving me trouble for a few weeks now and i was just running it inside my apt. and the thing smoked really really good. one of the things on the bottom now has a hole in it and it will just spin the wheels with no input whatsoever. i had to actually unplug the battery to get it to stop. so now i need a new ESC, i am thinking since it is only about 3 weeks old i should be able to get a new one from losi, but i am also thinking of moving to a different motor setup. brushless isn't an option now, but a Cobalt 14T might be ok. what can i get for a brushed ESC that will handle a 7 cell pack with no problems?

RE: Four star build
well chad, maybe perhaps after you crash many airplanes, you will understand why people try to help you out and give you "lectures" at the rate you are going if you are aspiring to become a real licensed full scale pilot, you will never make it. i guarantee you, and if you do, it will take you 200 hours to get a Private Pilot license when legally it only requires 40 hours. i had more, but you seem to be an ungrateful kid and not worth my time which i do not have much of. sorry for trying to help.

RE: GP Super Decathlon
ORIGINAL: buzzard bait I've seen so many posts over the years about tip stall problems with this plane and it is puzzling because the wing is not tapered and not high aspect ratio, and I'm sure it is a standard semi-symmetric airfoil. If you looked at the wing alone it is probably just like the wings of dozens of successful sport models. So it must be something else. I think the something else is the stab. It looks extremely small. I suspect the stab actually stalls first, then quickly causes loss of control over the angle of attack and a wing tip stalls. I've been tempted to get one of these planes just to try to prove the point. I would measure the stab area and the tail moment and then use the standard formulas to see there is a problem. I bet there is. Then I would build a bigger stab according to the formula. Just as a guess, I suspect if the stab were increased 15 - 20% (increasing the area about 30 - 40%) the plane would be much nicer to fly. Jim
i've flown full scale Decathlons, the mode'sl empennage looks the same as the empennage on the full scale.

RE: GP Super Decathlon
i have a TT pro 46 in my Decathlon and i had to tie it to the ground when i broke in my engine because at idle it wants to pull away, so it seems to be more than enough power for this plane.

RE: GP Super Decathlon
nice thread, i am downloading the video now. I have had my GP Decathlon completed for 2 years, but i have not flown it yet because i am afraid of it. I have only flown a Duraplane which i have pretty much mastered but i still won't fly the decathlon. I am sure it would be fine but i am going to build a fly a sig 4*40 for next summer and fly that first, maybe by the end of next summer i will try mine out.

RE: How long was it before you crashed for the first time?
I crashed my duraplane with in the first 5 minutes i soloed it. I had about 15 minutes on it prior on a different day. so i decided to take it flying in a 30 mph wind, whoops. so i take it up and the wind grabs it as soon as i get 30 feet off the ground. it climbs a good bit, then gets drifted a 1/4 mile before nosing in. i broke the carb and prop, the wing was ok, but i bent the hell out of the aluminum fuse part. oh well, didn't do that again, and it have probably had about 50 flights since i got it fixed up :)

Fuel tank for an LT-40
i think a 14 ounce tank is too big. i have a decathlon with a TT pro46 and it has a 12 ounce tank, i haven't flown it yet, but on the ground it will run for about 20-25 minutes varying between 3/4 and full throttle. myabe get a more powerful engine, and a enlarge the tank compartment. I think sullivan has flexible tanks, check out tower hobbies.
