RE: Yellow Aircraft F 18 Hornet Twin Build
I have the ARF also. The largest servo that I know that will fit due to depth is a JR 8411,. 155 oz-in @ 4.8V, 188 oz-in @ 6V Speed: .18 sec/60° @ 4.8V, .15 sec/60° @ 6V Length: 1.54 in Width: 0.75 in Height: 1.36 in Since Im running All JR HV servos the 8911 HV is .82 in width which wont fit, but i designed in cad a new hatch cover that is cnc to allow servo case to fit flush with top surface of the servo cover. I will cnc the cover plate fron 1/16 carbon fiber plate and cover the plate to hide the servo with .005 G10. Ill bevel the edges of the G10 so it wont protrude below wing skin where the cover meets the skin. This should be way stronger than the ply servo hatch cover, even with part of it machined away for the servo

RE: SM A4 Upgrades
Well my painter stopped by last week to look at some small cracks and incorrect lettering from skymaster.. After Doug (Oversprayer, if youve seen his work, wow) inspected things, several much larger stress cracks were found.. Looks like she's gonna get a full repaint, and since I know how awesome the paint will turn out, Looks like I have to take this one to the next level. First up, Operational Canopy. Bit of a challenge since the rear edge of the Canopy and opening are completely vertical. I designed a hinge assy that moves the rear of the canopy vertically first to clear the back of the fuse and then the canopy rotates open. CNC'D the Parts and it works perfect. Operational Tailhook and detailed Speed Brake doors/openings next.

RE: SM A4 Upgrades
Scott, was thinking about offering as a kit, can customize mounts for different aircraft installation. I have dimensions from hinge line to pivot points so geometry is correct and I used a UP 7/16 dia 1" stroke on the wheel door and a UP 5/16 dia 3/4" stroke on the strut door, tx Steve

SM A4 Upgrades
I bought Pablo's Skymaster A4, Pablo was great and disclosed the known issues he had.. The main gear doors would never stay closed inflight.. Really bad geometry with them hinged on the outside and air cylinders having to be mounted on the inside. After a fair amount of head scratching and several versions I've finally come up with a design that really works. The components are cnc'd out of .125 fglass plate and C/F plate. Lots of leverage now as the side to side movement of the air cylinder is transfered to a vertical push pull. They close really tight. Also in the open position the large wheel door linkage travels overcenter and cannot try to close with air loads.

Help with Jet Central Gear Sequencer
Just installed it in my BVM F86, and trying to increase the time after gear extension for the doors to close. I have both door close settings at 2.0 which should be a little over 6 seconds. On retaction it works perfect, doors open, gear retracts, and doors close 6 seconds later. but for extension the doors open and gear extends, but doors close in about 1 second after gear extends. What am I missing

RE: A4 Skyhawk build
Will do, I think I'll probably be using a smaller version on the rear door also as its linkage geometry is wrong also. Pablo said that both doors were coming open inflight. Will let you know how it works out.. Thanks, Steve

RE: A4 Skyhawk build
Alex, I think why the magnet, and he had a small air cylinder mounted in the front to pin door shut didn't work was the air flow as the door tried to close all the way prevented the door from closing far enough to get the magnets close enough to do their job. I'm going to use a larger dia cylinder to increase force, although I'm not sure I'll need it

RE: A4 Skyhawk build
Alex, Pablo had tried the earth magnet to no avail, but without the helper spring, Here is what I've come up with, a motion transfer arm and mount. Now the air cylinder side to side moves the door actuator rod vertically. the adjustment holes and rod length will allow the linkage to travel over center in the open position to provide positive opening lock(the air cylinder at full exstension and positive closed lock with the door linkage arm in a line with the transfer arm pivot point. Any thoughts, thanks, Steve.. BTW the door cylinder has to be replaced with a 1.5" stroke, this is the one originally installed and everything is just tacked in place for now

RE: BVM F-4 build
The rest of the story!! Saturday Dustin did the Maiden after a few owners and my Phase 1 thru 4 inspection and repair. A low time BVM F4, but not flown in a few years. After a perfect take off and great flight, ( Anyone who has seen Dustin Fly can attest to his skills), time to land, Gear Down and NO LEFT MAIN!!!!!! After every manuever in the book, and low fuel light blinking, time to land. With only the Nose Gear and Right Main down, A perfect landing with the engine shut down and NOT A SCRATCH . UNBELEIVEABLE!!!!!! I can't even begin put into words what an incredible stick Dustin is.. Two more flights today to finalize trims and systems and I'm ready for many sorties . I cannot begin to express my appreciation to Dustin.. I can say without reservation, I Fly BVM

RE: Did I do this for nothing?
Tam offered a retract with the Y/A strut and his tires/wheels/brakes as a substitute for the 15. I had a set at one time that looked identical to what you have. I think it was to improve the tire setup from Y/A that were some type of foam.

no need to use a dual channel with the smart fly. I had gyros on rudders and ailerons on my F15 with the EQ10. you connect the gyro between the receiver and the EQ10

F18 Nose Gear Detail
Ck out the CNC details I've added to my Tam's Superhornet.. The landing light has D4S high output led and the LLS box has 3 micro led's on a board that has a sequencer Dan built So the Green, Red and amber lights come on in a random order for a few seconds each. After 2 or 3 sequences it finally goes green and stays green. Only starts the sequence after a gear up and then gear down command from TX.. Thinking about doing some resin casts of the parts if theres any interest
