has anyone tried the electric retracts from Sonic electric (LD-MERS-AM100), what about quality and or durability? Price seems great.

RE: switch to spectrum equipment
this System was purchased in March 2007, prior to the fixes and I have not bought another receiver since the original purchase, no need to since it holds several models, what ticks me off is the total ignorance and non response of the MFG to the issue

why should I have to wait for the possible problem to show up if there are known faults with the system?

switch to spectrum equipment
do to very poor or no response to a issue which is detailed in the " Futaba Radios Direct support forum ", I'm switching to Spectrum. No more Futaba equipment for me, if they cant service what they sell, they don't need my business.

RE: Futaba 6 EX 2.4 Systems Upgrades
your welcome TimBle, I'm still waiting on UPS to send me a free shipping code to return the TX to the service center for a new RF Board and or upgrade. From talking to several other FUTABA TX owners with the same problems, this was NOT advertised and not all Futaba TX owners where contacted about this issue. This is not good service we expect from FUTABA. I'll keep you posted about this issue.

Futaba 6 EX 2.4 Systems Upgrades
I sure would like to have this explained in detail and what has to be done to insure safe operation: Here is a exert from the article I read in R/C Model Reviews: Problems for Futaba FASST owners RECALL IN EUROPE BUT NOT THE USA Futaba made a very bold statement when they launched their much-awaited 2.4GHz spread spectrum radio control system. Futaba transmitter "Futaba gets it right the first time" was the proud claim made on the FASST website. The site went on to say "Futaba takes great pride in making sure that every new product performs flawlessly before it's offered to our customers". Now if you're going to make claims like that you'd better be 100 percent sure that you do get it right first time and unfortunately, in the case of some FASST products, they didn't. It seems that the GUID (a magic number that uniquely identifies each transmitter) programmed into the 6EX, 7C and TM7 FASST modules was either shipped with a zero value or is able to be accidentally zero'd in the field. Futaba has acknowledged that there is a problem but the way it's being handled varies dramatically from one country to another. In Europe, the Futaba distributor has taken the bold and praiseworthy step of issuing a general recall that applies to all 6EX, 7C and TM7 units. Once returned to base, those units either have a new circuit board or new software installed. In the USA however, Hobbico has declined to follow the European lead and is simply telling customers they can return their systems for an "upgrade" if they want to. Whereas the European distributor was very pro-active in ensuring that this problem doesn't cause people to lose planes or suffer injury, Hobbico has taken a far more laid-back approach, initially discounting reports of problems and then claiming they were unable to reproduce the problem (therefore it wasn't a problem). From a technical perspective, FASST remains probably the most sophisticated and robust 2.4GHz spread spectrum system on the market. From a marketing and support perspective it depends very much on which part of the world you live in as to the quality of service you receive. If you have a Futaba FASST 6EX, 7C or TM7 sytem it is strongly recommended that you check the website for the distributor in your country and make sure you have returned your set so it can be checked, upgraded or repaired. Bob93447, yes, that is a speed record for Tower, my deliveries from that firm usually take up 10 days. Most other sources ship much faster.

Park Zone Radian & Futaba 6EX-2.4
I'm having trouble getting the elec. Motor to run in my brand new Radian, Elev. and Rudder respond as desired. I reset all functions in the Transmitter to Factory defaults, i.e. started off with no programming left in the Radio. I turn on the Transmitter, then plug in the ESC, it beeps several times but will not run. It ran when I first started experimenting with it, but continued to run even after the Transmitter was turned off, so I unplugged the Connection at the ESC and started to find out was was wrong. Everything seems to be plugged in ok, the receiver and voltages are fine, but why cant I get the motor to respond like I need too. Any Help is appreciated.

RE: congratultions, Tower Hobbies
Hello Edwin. Yes, the cust. # has changed, they added a digit to it, but that still does not make it right. Tower accepted the order and billed me soon before I called to complain. They later, after I called Cust. Support again the next day, cancelled the order as requested by me. All of it still does not add up to the refusal of the ad, since the ad does not specify any clauses, ( first time customer etc.). I too was happy with the way Tower treated me for many years, but this not accepting a Tower Ad, was the straw that broke the camels back. It is up to Tower now to make things right if they want to keep me as a customer. I have been in the retail business for some years, and can attest that it takes much time and efford to gain a good customer and just ONE screw up to loose one. thanks for responding.

congratultions, Tower Hobbies
after being a loyal customer for over 30 years and spending thousands of dollars on Hobby products with TOWER HOBBIES, they finally done me in for good. I ordered a servo and some hardware last night via the net, when finalizing the sale, they would not honor my ad ( # 011DY) that was send in a Tower Talk Flier last week. What really gets me is the way it was advertised, It says and I quote: The time has come to make you the most generous offer EVER in Tower Hobbies history. Place a minimum$ 24.99 order now, and we'll take $ 10.00 off. When the transaction finished and the order neglected to subtract then$ 10.00 from my bill, I called Tower but Customer Service done left for the day, so I called back this morning to find out why the ad offer was not accepted. The customer service person kind of was looking for words obviously paused several times and but finally said well it was for first time customers only. My reply was, cancel the sale, take me off your mailing list and don't bother to call on me again. If Tower is that cheap, they sure a hell don't need my business and I'll be glad to shop someplace else. With this kind of unethical business tactics, it will not be long before Tower goes Belly UP. Just thought I'd share this experience.

yes it can be fixed. Find a machine shop or someone who has a Mill and remove it with a carbide 3 or 4 flute e-mill, slow speed and lot's of coolant. A good machinist can work wonders.

glassing question
when fiber glassing a large wing ( 85" WS), do you go in sections or one wing half at a time. If so, do you just keep mixing new rosin as you go or start with a large batch, since it gets hard in about 15 - 20 min. ( Z-poxy). If you go smaller section at a time, lets say from center wing to out side the Gear-wells, do you let the section you just glassed cure, sand and then continue or keep adding rosin while the previous section is hardening? Since this stuff cures kind of quick and I'm not Speedy Gonzales,( it is my first glassing job), I would like to know the proper sequence or the best way to do this.
