also that engine is the 50lx with the black pipe. He doesnt have it on the web site, but if you call him he will make you one to use with pylon props and high rpms.

RE: repost of viper 500 video with jett 50lx
i cant remember exactly what prop it was. We were messing around and i think it was a apc carbon 7.4x8.5. It was hitting 22,000 on the ground. Not good to run it like that. After the second flight i blew the plug right out of the top. good thing dub makes his engines with a removable top insert. A better prop to run would be a 8.5x9 or around that area with rpms of around 17,500 on the ground. the smaller prop sounded faster but was hard to tell without having a radar gun.

RE: Wingmaster Midget Mustang Question
The cloth reinforcement is not needed. Between my bro and myself we have four of these birds. The ones at his house both have about 200 flights on them of fast pylon racing. Just make sure you have no gap and get plenty of glue on the wing spar. Also get rid of the cheap wing bolts and use 1/4-20 nylon bolts for the wings. ken

I sure wish i had a saito 82 that can turn a 13x8 over 15000rpms. Only way he would hit 113 is if he was flying with 40+mph winds.

They work the same. When air is applied to the brakes they should stop. Try taking the skymaster brakes apart to make sure they are installed properly.
ORIGINAL: rmenke Dude: See, thats what happens when you get just a little older. Am still a skeptic that that old clapped out 50 will turn a 8.75 X 9 22,000, would hardly pull that Krangke F3d near 100 mph, smoked by a 35 yet. Oh, sorry, it just would not turn? Yes, said hello back on pm. Be well. Rog Think i'm getting just a little delusional in addition to cranky!!
lol you must be getting old[X(]. I never said it was a 8.75x9. the prop used to get that rpm was a 8.4x7 carbon. Also if i remember correctly when my bro and I flew are f3ds your comment was you guys are crazy and you quietly put yours away.

Hey roger, i have that engine in florida. What i didnt mention to say was that i blew the glow plugs right out of the eninge doing that. You can call dub up and ask him how many 50 size head inserts the pfisters have bought, you would laugh.

RE: Engine Dyno
what bob said. What he didnt mention is how you get hp from how much torque you have. If you could somehow measure the torque on your engine you would use this formula to get your horsepower number. example: If you had a engine that produced 0.88ft lbs of torque at 15,000rpms. You would take those two numbers and multiply them together and then divide that by 5252. this will give you your horsepower number. .88 times 15000/5252=2.5hp If you are curious this will work for any type of engine

RE: Midget Mustang Info?
the wingmakers kit is a world models kit. the only reinforcements i did was strengthen up around the firewall from behind, and any of the main formers that looked like they lacked any glue. Finished weight with the jett90lx was just a tad under 8bls.

RE: Kyosho kelly + saito 100
from what ive seen it is will be to big. My bro has one with a jett 50 in it. He said it flies good with that combo. I guess if you really wanted to stick a 1.0 in it you could with a lot of modifications and a bunch of extra tail weight to offstet the large engine, but i think you would be wasting your time.

RE: I have been Evacuated due to the Socal Fires
Razor, glad to hear you and your family are ok. Ive been working the santiago cyn fire for the last three nights from 10pm to 8am. Not acctualy fighting the fires but making sure our water tanks have enough water to fight it. Scarry stuff being that close. Only help we can give is putting out the small flare ups around are stations to keep them from burning. we lost two pump stations that we had to put emergency pumps at, and have had to install generators at the rest so we can keep on pumping the water. This is my last night until monday. Hopefully by then they will have this under control. ken

RE: ducati steering
steering these bikes is just like steering a real motorcyle. Most people dont understand the countersteering process. On a real bike you can lean off your bike to change the center of gravity on the bike so you are able to give more steering input. These bikes steer the same way, but since you cant change the center of gravity you cant just keep adding more steering input at speed. Once you have started your turn let off the gas just a little and then return your steering to neutral. This will let the front wheel go straight after it is leaning witch will make the bike turn better. Of course if you dont let of the gas enough the bike will go straight back up. Takes time to perfect the tight turns. If you just keep giving more input at speed it will not do anyting. Hope this helps, kinda hard to explain.

RE: thewingsmaker.com - midget mustang
Sorry it took so long for me to get back on this. The jett90lx was a perfect match for this plane. The thing that i like best about the midget out of all the 1/4 scale racers that i have had is that you can perform 3d with this plane as well as going fast. Knife edges, hovering and torque rolls are obtainable with this plane. Surprising though, my little toni with a jett90l that was turning 500rpms less was faster when my bro and i raced them. Here are the pics of the engine install. I used the little toni exention set up that jett sales to fit the muffler.
