RE: improved vibration
When I first ran the new engine I did notice this and found that metal filings were jammed in the gear teeth causing hard to rotate. It might need cleaning by spliting the case and cleaning the filings from the gear teeth. I have not had a problem since.

RE: 30% nitro in a RCV120SP???
regarding the leak at the joint, mine does the same thing. don't worry about that. at least you know the bearings are getting oiled. there is a rubber O ring in there that might need replacing some time in the future. Glad to hear you got it figured out.

RE: improved vibration
Good eye, believe it or not it is a wheel collar with a wire soldered onto it. I used a small fiber washer to space the collar off the plug and use the set screw to hold it in place. so far I have had no problems. I kept reading stories about regular plug caps falling off, and this was one of the cures mentioned. simple, give it a try.

RE: improved vibration
yeah, I rotated the lower half so the socket is on the side, just for my preference. I really love this engine and plan to buy another for my P 47. Once it's broken in and tuned it's one bad mother, swinging an APC 15.5x12 4 blade prop at 5800rpm.

RE: improved vibration
I have more then 3 gallons of fuel through mine on the bench, and it has calmed right down. When I first started and ran the engine for the first time, it would vibrate my field box right off the table. but now she runs quite smooth. It seems to be a 3D vibration coming from the torsional force of the prop and the unbalanced force of the piston and crank counter weight. I did buy a Great Planes rubber fire wall mount but have not tried it yet. The rubber grommets are very stiff with large mounting hardware. I know it says not to use one of these but what other choice do we have. here is my set up on a Top Flite Corsair.

RE: 30% nitro in a RCV120SP???
the carb should be set up to idle with a 1/16'' opening gap in the carb barrel. put a 1/16 drill bit into the carb opening and set the servo to idle at this setting. now you can adjust the low idle screw to find the sweet spot with good transition.

do you use the 1/16'' drill bit trick on the carb set up?

RE: 30% nitro in a RCV120SP???
I would stay within the 10%-15% range, like you said it's not fully broken in yet. I have over 2 gallons of 10% run through mine with a reliable idle at 1500 rpm. It did take some time for the engine to loosen up and smooth out. I would also get a new OS type F plug. I think you might run into over heating issues with the 30%. Does it smoke allot at idle?

RE: 120SP idle question
yes, the idle adjust screw is in the throttle barrel. I had the same problem at idle, let it warm up a bit so every thing is at operating temp then let it idle and do your adjustments with the engine warmed up. the more fuel you put through it the better.

RE: Finding an engine mount for the RCV-130. Any recommendation?
Have you looked into the two piece mounts, the ones that look like T's. They should work just fine because you can mount them as wide as you want. I have a pair that measure 104mm from the firewall to the end of the mount. If you are interested, I can give them to you.

RE: RCV120SP mounting options
What you should do is just mount the engine 90' to the right "without" splitting the case and that will give the exhaust on the left and the carb on the top and the starting bolt on the right. Having the vent on the top should not be a problem.

RE: RCV120SP mounting options
hi, One thing I was told was to break in the engine as it came from the factory and then open it up and clean out the case, metal filing do build up. then rotate it and clean it out again after your happy with the tuning and several tanks of fuel. what i did was rotate the lower half 90' to the right so the exhaust is still on the bottom. It is mounted in a top-flite corsair. I asked Kondor Model Products this same question and they told me it can be mounted it any position. I just did not want a big hole in the top of the cowl. the vent is on the side as well with no problems, I think having the vent on the side keeps some oil in the case to keep the gears lubed up and keeps them cool as well. Also, starting this engine does get easier the more fuel you run through it. hope that helps.

RE: RCV120SP mounting options
Yes you can rotate the top half to make the exhaust come out either side. I rotated mine to have the starting socket on the right. but you must time it before you loosen the bolts and lock the cylinder so it does not move, ( a pin through the exhaust and carb openings works great). once you have done that, lift the top half off the gears the rotate 90' left or right. make sure that the crank and piston are at TDC, top dead center. then carefully lower the top half down on the gears making sure nothing moves. it may take a few try's before your sure that it is timed corectly. it is farlly straight forward. hope that helps.

RE: RCV 91CD full throttle problem
Hi, I think the pitch of your prop is wrong. since being a 2/1 gear, your pitch should be around 12. check the prop instructions for prop size and rpm. let me know what you find out. good luck.

RE: Another engine/prop question for Keith.
Hi, It seems to me that you are all over the map with props. In my understanding, when changing from 3 blade to 2 blade you add 1'' to the prop (15x12 4 blade to 16x12 3 blade to 17x12 2 blade). also the weight of the custom 3 blade may be much more than a standard 3 blade. Have tried 15% Omega? please don't quote me on this I would would like to see how thing turn out

RE: prop driver removel rcv 120sp
the prop backing plate is what I need to remove. it is on a tapered collet which fits on the prop shaft. I need to pull the prop backing and the collet off the prop shaft so I can get at the bearing and remove it. since it is a tapered collet, It is a press like fit. I need to use some sort of puller to get behind the prop hub and pull it straight off. I guess my question is what can I use as a puller without bending the fins on the prop backing. I hope that's a little more descriptive. thanks
